In this article, we investigate the pricing of European-style options under a Markovian regime-switching Hull–White interest rate model. The parameters of this model, including the mean-reversion level, the volatility of the stochastic interest rate, and the volatility of an asset’s value, are modulated by an observable, continuous-time, finite-state Markov chain. A closed-form expression for the characteristic function of the logarithmic terminal asset price is derived. Then, using the fast Fourier transform, a price of a European-style option is computed. In a two-state Markov chain case, numerical examples and empirical studies are presented to illustrate the practical implementation of the model.  相似文献

In the real world, we introduce a dynamic model about the risky asset which is governed by Brownian motion, stationary compound Poisson process and its compensation process. By choosing Esscher transform parameters, we obtain a risk-neural measure Q under which the discounted value of the risky underlying asset is a martingale. Then, we give the pricing formulas of Exchange option by change of numeraire. At last, we analyze the option pricing formula and provide numerical illustrations by introducing BBY stock and SBUX stock.  相似文献

We consider several time series, and for each of them, we fit an appropriate dynamic parametric model. This produces serially independent error terms for each time series. The dependence between these error terms is then modelled by a regime-switching copula. The EM algorithm is used for estimating the parameters and a sequential goodness-of-fit procedure based on Cramér–von Mises statistics is proposed to select the appropriate number of regimes. Numerical experiments are performed to assess the validity of the proposed methodology. As an example of application, we evaluate a European put-on-max option on the returns of two assets. To facilitate the use of our methodology, we have built a R package HMMcopula available on CRAN. The Canadian Journal of Statistics 48: 79–96; 2020 © 2020 Statistical Society of Canada  相似文献

We investigate longitudinal models having Brownian-motion covariance structure. We show that any such model can be viewed as arising from a related “timeless” classical linear model where sample sizes correspond to longitudinal observation times. This relationship is of practical impact when there are closed-form ANOVA tables for the related classical model. Such tables can be directly transformed into the analogous tables for the original longitudinal model. We in particular provide complete results for one-way fixed and random effects ANOVA on the drift parameter in Brownian motion, and illustrate its use in estimating heterogeneity in tumor growth rates.  相似文献

We provide general conditions to ensure the valid Laplace approximations to the marginal likelihoods under model misspecification, and derive the Bayesian information criteria including all terms of order Op(1). Under conditions in theorem 1 of Lv and Liu [J. R. Statist. Soc. B, 76, (2014), 141–167] and a continuity condition for prior densities, asymptotic expansions with error terms of order op(1) are derived for the log-marginal likelihoods of possibly misspecified generalized linear models. We present some numerical examples to illustrate the finite sample performance of the proposed information criteria in misspecified models.  相似文献

In a microarray experiment, intensity measurements tend to vary due to various systematic and random effects, which enter at the different stages of the measurement process. Common test statistics do not take these effects into account. An alternative is to use, for example, ANOVA models. In many cases, we can, however, not make the assumption of normally distributed error terms. Purdom and Holmes [6 Purdom, E. and Holmes, S. P. 2005. Error distribution for gene expression data. Stat. Appl. Genet. Mol. Biol., 4(1) article 16 [Google Scholar]] have concluded that the distribution of microarray intensity measurements can often be better approximated by a Laplace distribution. In this paper, we consider the analysis of microarray data by using ANOVA models under the assumption of Laplace-distributed error terms. We explain the methodology and discuss problems related to fitting of this type of models. In addition to evaluating the models using several real-life microarray experiments, we conduct a simulation study to investigate different aspects of the models in detail. We find that, while the normal model is less sensitive to model misspecifications, the Laplace model has more power when the data are truly Laplace distributed. However, in the latter situation, neither of the models is able to control the false discovery rate at the pre-specified significance level. This problem is most likely related to sample size issues.  相似文献

Csàki and Vincze have shown that for an elementary tied-down random walk, the pair (maximum, instant of maximum) has the same law as (time spent in (0, 1/2), time spent above 1/2). Formal passage to the limit indicates that the former pair has for a Brownian bridge the same law as (local time at 0, duration of positivity). Pricing options is an important problem in financial engineering. In many scenarios of practical interest, financial option prices associated with an underlying asset reduces to computing an expectation w.r.t. a diffusion process. In general, these expectations cannot be calculated analytically, and one way to approximate these quantities is via the Monte Carlo (MC) method; MC methods have been used to price options since at least the 1970s. It has been seen in Del Moral P, Shevchenko PV. [Valuation of barrier options using sequential Monte Carlo. 2014. arXiv preprint] and Jasra A, Del Moral P. [Sequential Monte Carlo methods for option pricing. Stoch Anal Appl. 2011;29:292–316] that Sequential Monte Carlo (SMC) methods are a natural tool to apply in this context and can vastly improve over standard MC. In this article, in a similar spirit to Del Moral and Shevchenko (2014) and Jasra and Del Moral (2011), we show that one can achieve significant gains by using SMC methods by constructing a sequence of artificial target densities over time. In particular, we approximate the optimal importance sampling distribution in the SMC algorithm by using a sequence of weighting functions. This is demonstrated on two examples, barrier options and target accrual redemption notes (TARNs). We also provide a proof of unbiasedness of our SMC estimate.  相似文献

We present a method for estimating the parameters in indexed stochastic models via a least squares approach based on empirical transforms. Asymptotic approximations are derived for the distribution of the resulting estimators. An explicit expression for the mean-squared error provides a natural way of selecting the transform variable, and a numerical example illustrates the performance of the resulting method. A common finding, which we term 'diagonal optimization', occurs when multiparameter models are fitted by using transforms. Diagonal optimization arises when optimal performance results from equating the elements of the transform vector, and we provide a heuristic explanation of why this occurs.  相似文献

Herman Chernoff made fundamental contributions to analytical and computational methods for solving optimal stopping problems for Brownian motion. He also showed how these optimal stopping problems are closely related to some basic problems in sequential analysis and singular stochastic control. This paper gives a survey of these and related developments and describes some recent applications to option valuation in financial economics.  相似文献

Estimation and prediction in generalized linear mixed models are often hampered by intractable high dimensional integrals. This paper provides a framework to solve this intractability, using asymptotic expansions when the number of random effects is large. To that end, we first derive a modified Laplace approximation when the number of random effects is increasing at a lower rate than the sample size. Second, we propose an approximate likelihood method based on the asymptotic expansion of the log-likelihood using the modified Laplace approximation which is maximized using a quasi-Newton algorithm. Finally, we define the second order plug-in predictive density based on a similar expansion to the plug-in predictive density and show that it is a normal density. Our simulations show that in comparison to other approximations, our method has better performance. Our methods are readily applied to non-Gaussian spatial data and as an example, the analysis of the rhizoctonia root rot data is presented.  相似文献

Summary.  Structured additive regression models are perhaps the most commonly used class of models in statistical applications. It includes, among others, (generalized) linear models, (generalized) additive models, smoothing spline models, state space models, semiparametric regression, spatial and spatiotemporal models, log-Gaussian Cox processes and geostatistical and geoadditive models. We consider approximate Bayesian inference in a popular subset of structured additive regression models, latent Gaussian models , where the latent field is Gaussian, controlled by a few hyperparameters and with non-Gaussian response variables. The posterior marginals are not available in closed form owing to the non-Gaussian response variables. For such models, Markov chain Monte Carlo methods can be implemented, but they are not without problems, in terms of both convergence and computational time. In some practical applications, the extent of these problems is such that Markov chain Monte Carlo sampling is simply not an appropriate tool for routine analysis. We show that, by using an integrated nested Laplace approximation and its simplified version, we can directly compute very accurate approximations to the posterior marginals. The main benefit of these approximations is computational: where Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithms need hours or days to run, our approximations provide more precise estimates in seconds or minutes. Another advantage with our approach is its generality, which makes it possible to perform Bayesian analysis in an automatic, streamlined way, and to compute model comparison criteria and various predictive measures so that models can be compared and the model under study can be challenged.  相似文献

The celebrated Black–Scholes model made the assumption of constant volatility but empirical studies on implied volatility and asset dynamics motivated the use of stochastic volatilities. Christoffersen in 2009 showed that multi-factor stochastic volatilities models capture the asset dynamics more realistically. Fouque in 2012 used it to price European options. In 2013, Chiarella and Ziveyi considered Christoffersen’s ideas and introduced an asset dynamics where the two volatilities of the Heston type act separately and independently on the asset price, and using Fourier transform for the asset price process and double Laplace transform for the two volatilities processes, solved a pricing problem for American options. This paper considers the Chiarella and Ziveyi model and parameterizes it so that the volatilities revert to the long-run-mean with reversion rates that mimic fast (for example daily) and slow (for example seasonal) random effects. Applying asymptotic expansion method presented by Fouque in 2012, we make an extensive and detailed derivation of the approximation prices for European options. We also present numerical studies on the behavior and accuracy of our first- and second-order asymptotic expansion formulas.  相似文献

This paper extends the classical jump-diffusion option pricing model to incorporate serially correlated jump sizes which have been documented in recent empirical studies. We model the series of jump sizes by an autoregressive process and provide an analysis on the underlying stock return process. Based on this analysis, the European option price and the hedging parameters under the extended model are derived analytically. Through numerical examples, we investigate how the autocorrelation of jump sizes influences stock returns, option prices and hedging parameters, and demonstrate its effects on hedging portfolios and implied volatility smiles. A calibration example based on real market data is provided to show the advantage of incorporating the autocorrelation of jump sizes.  相似文献

We propose a class of goodness-of-fit tests for the gamma distribution that utilizes the empirical Laplace transform. The consistency of the tests as well as their asymptotic distribution under the null hypothesis are investigated. As the decay of the weight function tends to infinity, the test statistics approach limit values related to the first non zero component of Neyman's smooth test for the gamma law. The new tests are compared with other omnibus tests for the gamma distribution.  相似文献

The probability density function (pdf) ofsingular elliptical distributions is represented as an integralseries of singular normal distributions. Explicit formulas for the pdf and the cdf of the generalized Chi-square distribution are derived under singular elliptical assumptions extending the result of Díaz-García [(2002). In econometrics and finance, variables are collected at different frequencies. One straightforward regression model is to aggregate the higher frequency variable to match the lower frequency with a fixed weight function. However, aggregation with fixed weight functions may overlook useful information in the higher frequency variable. On the other hand, keeping all higher frequencies may result in overly complicated models. In literature, mixed data sampling (MIDAS) regression models have been proposed to balance between the two. In this article, a new model specification test is proposed that can help decide between the simple aggregation and the MIDAS model.  相似文献

The paper proposes a Bayesian quantile regression method for hierarchical linear models. Existing approaches of hierarchical linear quantile regression models are scarce and most of them were not from the perspective of Bayesian thoughts, which is important for hierarchical models. In this paper, based on Bayesian theories and Markov Chain Monte Carlo methods, we introduce Asymmetric Laplace distributed errors to simulate joint posterior distributions of population parameters and across-unit parameters and then derive their posterior quantile inferences. We run a simulation as the proposed method to examine the effects on parameters induced by units and quantile levels; the method is also applied to study the relationship between Chinese rural residents' family annual income and their cultivated areas. Both the simulation and real data analysis indicate that the method is effective and accurate.  相似文献

We describe stationarity and ergodicity (SE) regions for a recently proposed class of score driven dynamic correlation models. These models have important applications in empirical work. The regions are derived from sufficiency conditions in Bougerol (1993 Bougerol, P. (1993). Kalman filtering with random coefficients and contractions. SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization 31(4):942959.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) and take a nonstandard form. We show that the nonstandard shape of the sufficiency regions cannot be avoided by reparameterizing the model or by rescaling the score steps in the transition equation for the correlation parameter. This makes the result markedly different from the volatility case. Observationally equivalent decompositions of the stochastic recurrence equation yield regions with different shapes and sizes. We use these results to establish the consistency and asymptotic normality of the maximum likelihood estimator. We illustrate our results with an analysis of time-varying correlations between U.K. and Greek equity indices. We find that also in empirical applications different decompositions can give rise to different conclusions regarding the stability of the estimated model.  相似文献
