This study treats an asymptotic distribution for measures of predictive power for generalized linear models (GLMs). We focus on the regression correlation coefficient (RCC) that is one of the measures of predictive power. The RCC, proposed by Zheng and Agresti is a population value and a generalization of the population value for the coefficient of determination. Therefore, the RCC is easy to interpret and familiar. Recently, Takahashi and Kurosawa provided an explicit form of the RCC and proposed a new RCC estimator for a Poisson regression model. They also showed the validity of the new estimator compared with other estimators. This study discusses the new statistical properties of the RCC for the Poisson regression model. Furthermore, we show an asymptotic normality of the RCC estimator.  相似文献

Goodness-of-fit tests based on the Cramér-von Mises statistics are given for the Poisson distribution. Power comparisons show that these statistics, particularly A2, give good overall tests of fit. The statistic A2 will be particularly useful for detecting distributions where the variance is close to the mean, but which are not Poisson.  相似文献

In this article, we investigate the efficiency of score tests for testing a censored Poisson regression model against censored negative binomial regression alternatives. Based on the results of a simulation study, score tests using the normal approximation, underestimate the nominal significance level. To remedy this problem, bootstrap methods are proposed. We find that bootstrap methods keep the significance level close to the nominal one and have greater power uniformly than does the normal approximation for testing the hypothesis.  相似文献

We present a test of the fit to a Poisson model based on the empirical probability generating function (epgf). We derive the limiting distribution of the test under the Poisson hypothesis and show that a rescaling of it is approximately independent of the mean parameter in the Poisson distribution. When inspected under a simulation study over a range of alternative distributions, we find that this test shows reasonable behaviour compared to other goodness-of-fit tests like the Poisson index of dispersion and smooth test applied to the Poisson model. These results illustrate that epgf-based methods for anlyzing count data are promising.  相似文献

Many applications of the Inverse Gaussian distribution, including numerous reliability and life testing results are presented in statistical literature. The paper studies the problem of using entropy tests to examine the goodness of fit of an Inverse Gaussian distribution with unknown parameters. Some entropy tests based on different entropy estimates are proposed. Critical values of the test statistics for various sample sizes are obtained by Monte Carlo simulations. Type I error of the tests is investigated and then power values of the tests are compared with the competing tests against various alternatives. Finally, recommendations for the application of the tests in practice are presented.  相似文献

The rootogram is a graphical tool associated with the work of J. W. Tukey that was originally used for assessing goodness of fit of univariate distributions. Here, we extend the rootogram to regression models and show that this is particularly useful for diagnosing and treating issues such as overdispersion and/or excess zeros in count data models. We also introduce a weighted version of the rootogram that can be applied out of sample or to (weighted) subsets of the data, for example, in finite mixture models. An empirical illustration revisiting a well-known dataset from ethology is included, for which a negative binomial hurdle model is employed. Supplementary materials providing two further illustrations are available online: the first, using data from public health, employs a two-component finite mixture of negative binomial models; the second, using data from finance, involves underdispersion. An R implementation of our tools is available in the R package countreg. It also contains the data and replication code.  相似文献

A new modified Jackknifed estimator for the Poisson regression model   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The Poisson regression is very popular in applied researches when analyzing the count data. However, multicollinearity problem arises for the Poisson regression model when the independent variables are highly intercorrelated. Shrinkage estimator is a commonly applied solution to the general problem caused by multicollinearity. Recently, the ridge regression (RR) estimators and some methods for estimating the ridge parameter k in the Poisson regression have been proposed. It has been found that some estimators are better than the commonly used maximum-likelihood (ML) estimator and some other RR estimators. In this study, the modified Jackknifed Poisson ridge regression (MJPR) estimator is proposed to remedy the multicollinearity. A simulation study and a real data example are provided to evaluate the performance of estimators. Both mean-squared error and the percentage relative error are considered as the performance criteria. The simulation study and the real data example results show that the proposed MJPR method outperforms the Poisson ridge regression, Jackknifed Poisson ridge regression and the ML in all of the different situations evaluated in this paper.  相似文献

In this paper, we develop diagnostic methods for generalized Poisson regression (GPR) models with errors in variables based on the corrected likelihood. The one-step approximations of the estimates in the case-deletion model are given and case-deletion and local influence measures are presented. Meanwhile, based on a corrected score function, the testing statistics for the significance of dispersion parameters in GPR models with measurement errors are investigated. Finally, illustration of our methodology is given through numerical examples.  相似文献

We present a simple framework for studying empirical-distribution-function goodness-of-fit tests for discrete models. A key tool is a weak-convergence result for an estimated discrete empirical process, regarded as a random element in some suitable sequence space. Special emphasis is given to the problem of testing for a Poisson model and for the geometric distribution. Simulations show that parametric bootstrap versions of the tests maintain a nominal level of significance very closely even for small samples where reliance upon asymptotic critical values is doubtful.  相似文献

The zero-inflated Poisson regression model is commonly used when analyzing economic data that come in the form of non-negative integers since it accounts for excess zeros and overdispersion of the dependent variable. However, a problem often encountered when analyzing economic data that has not been addressed for this model is multicollinearity. This paper proposes ridge regression (RR) estimators and some methods for estimating the ridge parameter k for a non-negative model. A simulation study has been conducted to compare the performance of the estimators. Both mean squared error and mean absolute error are considered as the performance criteria. The simulation study shows that some estimators are better than the commonly used maximum-likelihood estimator and some other RR estimators. Based on the simulation study and an empirical application, some useful estimators are recommended for practitioners.  相似文献

Comparing the variances of several independent samples is a classic problem and many tests have been proposed in the literature. Conover et al. [Conover, W.J., Johnson, M.E. and Johnson, M.M., 1981, A comparative study of tests for homogeneity of variances with applications to the outer continental self bidding data. Technometrics, 23, 351–361.] and Shoemaker [Shoemaker, L.H., 1995, Tests for difference in dispersion based on quantiles. The American Statistician, 49 (2), 179–182.] find that the existing tests lack power for skewed sampling distributions. To address this problem, we studied the effect of an a priori symmetrization of the data on the performance of tests for homogeneity of variances. This article also updates the comprehensive comparative study of Conover et al.  相似文献

To study the equality of regression coefficients in several heteroscedastic regression models, we propose a fiducial-based test, and theoretically examine the frequency property of the proposed test. We numerically compare the performance of the proposed approach with the parametric bootstrap (PB) approach. Simulation results indicate that the fiducial approach controls the Type I error rates satisfactorily regardless of the number of regression models and sample sizes, whereas the PB approach tends to be a little of liberal in some scenarios. Finally, the proposed approach is applied to an analysis of a real dataset for illustration.  相似文献

Count data may be described by a Poisson regression model. If random coefficients are involved, maximum likelihood is not feasible and alternative estimation methods have to be employed. For the approach based on quasi-likelihood estimation a characterization of design optimality is derived and optimal designs are determined numerically for an example with random slope parameters.  相似文献

The hazard function plays an important role in survival analysis and reliability, since it quantifies the instantaneous failure rate of an individual at a given time point t, given that this individual has not failed before t. In some applications, abrupt changes in the hazard function are observed, and it is of interest to detect the location of such a change. In this paper, we consider testing of existence of a change in the parameters of an exponential regression model, based on a sample of right-censored survival times and the corresponding covariates. Likelihood ratio type tests are proposed and non-asymptotic bounds for the type II error probability are obtained. When the tests lead to acceptance of a change, estimators for the location of the change are proposed. Non-asymptotic upper bounds of the underestimation and overestimation probabilities are obtained. A short simulation study illustrates these results.  相似文献

Summary.  We establish asymptotic theory for both the maximum likelihood and the maximum modified likelihood estimators in mixture regression models. Moreover, under specific and reasonable conditions, we show that the optimal convergence rate of n −1/4 for estimating the mixing distribution is achievable for both the maximum likelihood and the maximum modified likelihood estimators. We also derive the asymptotic distributions of two log-likelihood ratio test statistics for testing homogeneity and we propose a resampling procedure for approximating the p -value. Simulation studies are conducted to investigate the empirical performance of the two test statistics. Finally, two real data sets are analysed to illustrate the application of our theoretical results.  相似文献

Negative binomial regression (NBR) and Poisson regression (PR) applications have become very popular in the analysis of count data in recent years. However, if there is a high degree of relationship between the independent variables, the problem of multicollinearity arises in these models. We introduce new two-parameter estimators (TPEs) for the NBR and the PR models by unifying the two-parameter estimator (TPE) of Özkale and Kaç?ranlar [The restricted and unrestricted two-parameter estimators. Commun Stat Theory Methods. 2007;36:2707–2725]. These new estimators are general estimators which include maximum likelihood (ML) estimator, ridge estimator (RE), Liu estimator (LE) and contraction estimator (CE) as special cases. Furthermore, biasing parameters of these estimators are given and a Monte Carlo simulation is done to evaluate the performance of these estimators using mean square error (MSE) criterion. The benefits of the new TPEs are also illustrated in an empirical application. The results show that the new proposed TPEs for the NBR and the PR models are better than the ML estimator, the RE and the LE.  相似文献

Overdispersion is a common phenomenon in Poisson modeling. The generalized Poisson (GP) regression model accommodates both overdispersion and underdispersion in count data modeling, and is an increasingly popular platform for modeling overdispersed count data. The Poisson model is one of the special cases in the collection of models which may be specified by GP regression. Thus, we may derive a test of overdispersion which compares the equi-dispersion Poisson model within the context of the more general GP regression model. The score test has an advantage over the likelihood ratio test (LRT) and over the Wald test in that the score test only requires that the parameter of interest be estimated under the null hypothesis (the Poisson model). Herein, we propose a score test for overdispersion based on the GP model (specifically the GP-2 model) and compare the power of the test with the LRT and Wald tests. A simulation study indicates the proposed score test based on asymptotic standard normal distribution is more appropriate in practical applications.  相似文献

An F-statistic which tests a hypothesized linear regression model against the general alternative is developed. Observations are grouped using “near neighbours” and a generalization of the usual lack of fit test is derived. Two data sets from Daniel and Wood (1971) are used to illustrate the methodology. Power considerations are discussed.  相似文献

In this article, an additive rate model is proposed for clustered recurrent event with a terminal event. The subjects are clustered by some property. For the clustered subjects, the recurrent event is precluded by the death. An estimating equation is developed for the model parameter and the baseline rate function. The asymptotic properties of the resulting estimators are established. In addition, a goodness-of-fit test is presented to assess the adequacy of the model. The finite-sample behavior of the proposed estimators is evaluated through simulation studies, and an application to a bladder cancer data is illustrated.  相似文献

Cumulative probabilities of a Poisson distribution can be written in terms of incomplete gamma function where the parameter of the gamma function is an integer. From this definition a new generalization of the Poisson distribution is obtained with two parameters. Asymptotic behavior of this distribution is shown to be normal. Some order properties of this distribution are also studied.  相似文献
