A multivariate linear calibration problem, in which response variable is multivariate and explanatory variable is univariate, is considered. In this paper a class of generalized inverse regression estimators is proposed in multi-univariate linear calibration. It includes the classical estimator and the inverse regression one (or Krutchkoff estimator). For the proposed estimator we derive the expressions of bias and mean square error (MSE). Furthermore the behavior of these characteristics is investigated through an analytical method. In addition through a numerical study we confirm the existence of a generalized inverse regression estimator to improve both the classical and the inverse regression estimators on the MSE criterion.  相似文献

Subset selection is an extensively studied problem in statistical learning. Especially it becomes popular for regression analysis. This problem has considerable attention for generalized linear models as well as other types of regression methods. Quantile regression is one of the most used types of regression method. In this article, we consider subset selection problem for quantile regression analysis with adopting some recent Bayesian information criteria. We also utilized heuristic optimization during selection process. Simulation and real data application results demonstrate the capability of the mentioned information criteria. According to results, these information criteria can determine the true models effectively in quantile regression models.  相似文献

Summary. We present a technique for extending generalized linear models to the situation where some of the predictor variables are observations from a curve or function. The technique is particularly useful when only fragments of each curve have been observed. We demonstrate, on both simulated and real data sets, how this approach can be used to perform linear, logistic and censored regression with functional predictors. In addition, we show how functional principal components can be used to gain insight into the relationship between the response and functional predictors. Finally, we extend the methodology to apply generalized linear models and principal components to standard missing data problems.  相似文献

In this article, we aim to study the linearized ridge regression (LRR) estimator in a linear regression model motivated by the work of Liu (1993). The LRR estimator and the two types of generalized Liu estimators are investigated under the PRESS criterion. The method of obtaining the optimal generalized ridge regression (GRR) estimator is derived from the optimal LRR estimator. We apply the Hald data as a numerical example and then make a simulation study to show the main results. It is concluded that the idea of transforming the GRR estimator as a complicated function of the biasing parameters to a linearized version should be paid more attention in the future.  相似文献

In this paper, a robust estimator is proposed for partially linear regression models. We first estimate the nonparametric component using the penalized regression spline, then we construct an estimator of parametric component by using robust S-estimator. We propose an iterative algorithm to solve the proposed optimization problem, and introduce a robust generalized cross-validation to select the penalized parameter. Simulation studies and a real data analysis illustrate that the our proposed method is robust against outliers in the dataset or errors with heavy tails.  相似文献

By incorporating informative and/or historical knowledge of the unknown parameters, Bayesian experimental design under the decision-theory framework can combine all the information available to the experimenter so that a better design may be achieved. Bayesian optimal designs for generalized linear regression models, especially for the Poisson regression model, is of interest in this article. In addition, lack of an efficient computational method in dealing with the Bayesian design leads to development of a hybrid computational method that consists of the combination of a rough global optima search and a more precise local optima search. This approach can efficiently search for the optimal design for multi-variable generalized linear models. Furthermore, the equivalence theorem is used to verify whether the design is optimal or not.  相似文献

Abstract.  Mixed model based approaches for semiparametric regression have gained much interest in recent years, both in theory and application. They provide a unified and modular framework for penalized likelihood and closely related empirical Bayes inference. In this article, we develop mixed model methodology for a broad class of Cox-type hazard regression models where the usual linear predictor is generalized to a geoadditive predictor incorporating non-parametric terms for the (log-)baseline hazard rate, time-varying coefficients and non-linear effects of continuous covariates, a spatial component, and additional cluster-specific frailties. Non-linear and time-varying effects are modelled through penalized splines, while spatial components are treated as correlated random effects following either a Markov random field or a stationary Gaussian random field prior. Generalizing existing mixed model methodology, inference is derived using penalized likelihood for regression coefficients and (approximate) marginal likelihood for smoothing parameters. In a simulation we study the performance of the proposed method, in particular comparing it with its fully Bayesian counterpart using Markov chain Monte Carlo methodology, and complement the results by some asymptotic considerations. As an application, we analyse leukaemia survival data from northwest England.  相似文献

Many model‐free dimension reduction methods have been developed for high‐dimensional regression data but have not paid much attention on problems with non‐linear confounding. In this paper, we propose an inverse‐regression method of dependent variable transformation for detecting the presence of non‐linear confounding. The benefit of using geometrical information from our method is highlighted. A ratio estimation strategy is incorporated in our approach to enhance the interpretation of variable selection. This approach can be implemented not only in principal Hessian directions (PHD) but also in other recently developed dimension reduction methods. Several simulation examples that are reported for illustration and comparisons are made with sliced inverse regression and PHD in ignorance of non‐linear confounding. An illustrative application to one real data is also presented.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Modeling diagnostics assess models by means of a variety of criteria. Each criterion typically performs its evaluation upon a specific inferential objective. For instance, the well-known DFBETAS in linear regression models are a modeling diagnostic which is applied to discover the influential cases in fitting a model. To facilitate the evaluation of generalized linear mixed models (GLMM), we develop a diagnostic for detecting influential cases based on the information complexity (ICOMP) criteria for detecting influential cases which substantially affect the model selection criterion ICOMP. In a given model, the diagnostic compares the ICOMP criterion between the full data set and a case-deleted data set. The computational formula of the ICOMP criterion is evaluated using the Fisher information matrix. A simulation study is accomplished and a real data set of cancer cells is analyzed using the logistic linear mixed model for illustrating the effectiveness of the proposed diagnostic in detecting the influential cases.  相似文献

This article primarily aims to put forward the linearized restricted ridge regression (LRRR) estimator in linear regression models. Two types of LRRR estimators are investigated under the PRESS criterion and the optimal LRRR estimators and the optimal restricted generalized ridge regression estimator are obtained. We apply the results to the Hald data and finally make a simulation study by using the method of McDonald and Galarneau.  相似文献

In this paper we prove the consistency in probability of a class of generalized BIC criteria for model selection in non-linear regression, by using asymptotic results of Gallant. This extends a result obtained by Nishii for model selection in linear regression.  相似文献

Existing research on mixtures of regression models are limited to directly observed predictors. The estimation of mixtures of regression for measurement error data imposes challenges for statisticians. For linear regression models with measurement error data, the naive ordinary least squares method, which directly substitutes the observed surrogates for the unobserved error-prone variables, yields an inconsistent estimate for the regression coefficients. The same inconsistency also happens to the naive mixtures of regression estimate, which is based on the traditional maximum likelihood estimator and simply ignores the measurement error. To solve this inconsistency, we propose to use the deconvolution method to estimate the mixture likelihood of the observed surrogates. Then our proposed estimate is found by maximizing the estimated mixture likelihood. In addition, a generalized EM algorithm is also developed to find the estimate. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed estimation procedures work well and perform much better than the naive estimates.  相似文献

In order to obtain optimal estimators in a generalized linear regression model we apply the minimax principle to the relative squared error. It turns out that this approach is equivalent to the application of the minimax principle to the absolute squared error when an ellipsoidal prior information set is given. We discuss the admissibility of these minimax estimators. Furthermore, a close relation to a Bayesian approach is derived.  相似文献

Conventionally, a ridge parameter is estimated as a function of regression parameters based on ordinary least squares. In this article, we proposed an iterative procedure instead of the one-step or conventional ridge method. Additionally, we construct an indicator that measures the potential degree of improvement in mean squared error when ridge estimates are employed. Simulations show that our methods are appropriate for a wide class of non linear models including generalized linear models and proportional hazards (PHs) regressions. The method is applied to a PH regression with highly collinear covariates in a cancer recurrence study.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new semiparametric heteroscedastic regression model allowing for positive and negative skewness and bimodal shapes using the B-spline basis for nonlinear effects. The proposed distribution is based on the generalized additive models for location, scale and shape framework in order to model any or all parameters of the distribution using parametric linear and/or nonparametric smooth functions of explanatory variables. We motivate the new model by means of Monte Carlo simulations, thus ignoring the skewness and bimodality of the random errors in semiparametric regression models, which may introduce biases on the parameter estimates and/or on the estimation of the associated variability measures. An iterative estimation process and some diagnostic methods are investigated. Applications to two real data sets are presented and the method is compared to the usual regression methods.  相似文献

Screening procedures play an important role in data analysis, especially in high-throughput biological studies where the datasets consist of more covariates than independent subjects. In this article, a Bayesian screening procedure is introduced for the binary response models with logit and probit links. In contrast to many screening rules based on marginal information involving one or a few covariates, the proposed Bayesian procedure simultaneously models all covariates and uses closed-form screening statistics. Specifically, we use the posterior means of the regression coefficients as screening statistics; by imposing a generalized g-prior on the regression coefficients, we derive the analytical form of their posterior means and compute the screening statistics without Markov chain Monte Carlo implementation. We evaluate the utility of the proposed Bayesian screening method using simulations and real data analysis. When the sample size is small, the simulation results suggest improved performance with comparable computational cost.  相似文献

Compositional data are known as a sort of complex multidimensional data with the feature that reflect the relative information rather than absolute information. There are a variety of models for regression analysis with compositional variables. Similar to the traditional regression analysis, the heteroskedasticity still exists in these models. However, the existing heteroskedastic regression analysis methods cannot apply in these models with compositional error term. In this paper, we mainly study the heteroskedastic linear regression model with compositional response and covariates. The parameter estimator is obtained through weighted least squares method. For the hypothesis test of parameter, the test statistic is based on the original least squares estimator and corresponding heteroskedasticity-consistent covariance matrix estimator. When the proposed method is applied to both simulation and real example, we use the original least squares method as a comparison during the whole process. The results implicate the model's practicality and effectiveness in regression analysis with heteroskedasticity.  相似文献

In this paper we present a method for performing regression with stable disturbances. The method of maximum likelihood is used to estimate both distribution and regression parameters. Our approach utilises a numerical integration procedure to calculate the stable density, followed by sequential quadratic programming optimisation procedures to obtain estimates and standard errors. A theoretical justification for the use of stable law regression is given followed by two real world practical examples of the method. First, we fit the stable law multiple regression model to housing price data and examine how the results differ from normal linear regression. Second, we calculate the beta coefficients for 26 companies from the Financial Times Ordinary Shares Index.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with selection of explanatory variables in generalized linear models (GLM). The class of GLM's is quite large and contains e.g. the ordinary linear regression, the binary logistic regression, the probit model and Poisson regression with linear or log-linear parameter structure. We show that, through an approximation of the log likelihood and a certain data transformation, the variable selection problem in a GLM can be converted into variable selection in an ordinary (unweighted) linear regression model. As a consequence no specific computer software for variable selection in GLM's is needed. Instead, some suitable variable selection program for linear regression can be used. We also present a simulation study which shows that the log likelihood approximation is very good in many practical situations. Finally, we mention briefly possible extensions to regression models outside the class of GLM's.  相似文献

Distance-based regression is a prediction method consisting of two steps: from distances between observations we obtain latent variables which, in turn, are the regressors in an ordinary least squares linear model. Distances are computed from actually observed predictors by means of a suitable dissimilarity function. Being generally nonlinearly related with the response, their selection by the usual F tests is unavailable. In this article, we propose a solution to this predictor selection problem by defining generalized test statistics and adapting a nonparametric bootstrap method to estimate their p-values. We include a numerical example with automobile insurance data.  相似文献
