China Population Today is an English journal devoted to population studies. It is hosted by China Population and Development Research Center under the administration of the National Population and Family Planning Commission. It is currently the only demographic journal that can be searched by POPLINE （a database of demographic literatures funded by the United States Agency for International Development and maintained by Hopkins University of the United States）.

An International Forum on Population and Development was held during, September 7-9 in Wuhan, capital city of central China‘s Hubei Province, to mark the lOth anniversary of both the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) and the Partners in Population and Development (PPD). Jointly organized by PPD, the National Population and Family Planning, Commission of China and the Population, Resources and Environment Committee and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chinese People‘s Political Consultative Conference, the forum was attended by about 400 participants front member countries of the Partners, international organizations, NGOs and donor institutions. CPDRC Successfully Convened Side Event on PADIS- INT during the XXVII International Population Conference

O n the afternoon of August 26, 2013, during the XXVII IUSSP jlnternational Population Conference, Population China and Development Research Center （CPDRC） and Digital China（China）, Ltd. convened a side event on PADIS-INT, a web-based Population Projection Software. Main Findings from Survey on Knowledge of HIV/AIDS Prevention and Puberty of High School Students in Rural China

The purpose of the PO2 project is to improve the special health education on reproductive health and HIV/ AIDS prevention knowledge in classroom education in the rural junior high schools of China. The First International Training Workshop on PADIS-INT Convened in CPDRC

On September 26-30,2011,China Population and Development Research Center(Hereinafter referred to as CPDRC) held the first international training workshop on PADIS- INT in Beijing.Dr.Mikhala Lumula Kizito,Director of Technical Service Directorate of National Coordinating Agency for Population and Development of Kenya(NCAPD),Mr.Francis Kundu, Senior Population Officer in NCAPD Policy and Research and researchers from CPDRC attended the workshop.     

Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Published the First Report on Development of Ageing Undertaking in China

Report on Development of Ageing Undertaking in China (2013), produced by China Research Center on Aging and published by Social Sciences Academic Press, was released on February 26 in Beijing. It is the first blue book on development of ageing undertaking in China. The blue book points out that in 2053 the number of aging population in China will reach the peak value of 487 million, a sevenfold increase compared with that in 2010     

Workshop on Population Projection Models and Technology and Review Meeting on PADIS-INT was Convened in Beijing

On September 2, 2013, the iWorkshop on Population Pro- jection Models and Tech-nology and Review Meeting on PADIS- INT was held in China Population and Development Research Center （CPDRC）. Prof. Jiang Zhenghua, Former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People＇s Congress attendedthe meeting and delivered a speech. Mr.Arie Hoekman, Representative, United Nations Population Fund （UNFPA）Beijing Office; Mr. Hu Hongtao, Commissioner, Department of International Cooper- ation, National Health and Family Plan- ning Commission （NHFPC）; and MI： Jiang Weiping, Director General of CPDRC attended the meeting.     

An Empirical Study on the Laddering Migration of China’s Floating Population

Using data collected by Center for Population and Development Studies of Renmin University of China in 2009 in Chaoyang district of Beijing, Dongguan city of Guangdong province and Zhuji city of Zhejiang province, this paper does an empirical study on the laddering migration of China’s floating population. The findings indicate that floating population’s geographical laddering migration, occupational laddering migration and family laddering migration exist in the process of migration. Geographical laddering migration is influenced by demographic characteristics, migration experience and pathfinder effect of parents. Occupational laddering migration is influenced by migration experience, stability of occupation and social interaction with local residents in destination. Family laddering migration is influenced by family member’s characteristics, area of arable land, migration experience and the number of relatives in destination.     

An Evaluation of the Impact of the Integrated Project on Rural Women from a Gender Perspective

In July 2000 and May and June 2001, a group of experts from China Population Information and Research Center and Nanjing College of Population Management conducted assessment surveys in Tumote Qian Banner (Inner Mongolia), Longhua (Hebei), Jinchuan (Gansu), Pingyao (Shanxi) and Minhe (Qinghai) for the International Integrated Project (FP/MCH/parasite control) that was jointly implemented by JOICFP, SFPC and China Family Planning Association. Professor Zhai Zhenwu, born in February 1954, is now a member of the National Population and Family Planning Committee of Experts and Director of the Demography Institute under the Key Research Institutes of Humanities and Social Science of the Ministry of Education. Besides, as a doctoral supervisor and one of the academic leaders in China＇s population studies, he now serves as the Dean of the School of Sociology and Population Studies and the Director of the Population and Development Research Center in Renmin University of China. Moreover, he is also the Chairman of Beijing Population Society and Executive Vice Chairman of China Population Society. Right now, he is devoted to demography and the study of population, resources and environmental economics.
