We prove that if pr and pr ? 1 are both prime powers then there is a generalized Hadamard matrix of order pr(pr ? 1) with elements from the elementary abelian group Zp x?x Zp. This result was motivated by results of Rajkundia on BIBD's. This result is then used to produce pr ? 1 mutually orthogonal F-squares F(pr(pr ? 1); pr ? 1).  相似文献

Two sufficient conditions are given for an incomplete block design to be (M,S- optimal. For binary designs the conditions are (i) that the elements in each row, excluding the diagonal element, of the association matrix differ by at most one, and (ii) that the off-diagonal elements of the block characteristic matrix differ by at most one. It is also shown how the conditions can be utilized for nonbinary designs and that for blocks of size two the sufficient condition in terms of the association matrix can be attained.  相似文献

Orthogonal Latin hypercube designs from generalized orthogonal designs   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Latin hypercube designs is a class of experimental designs that is important when computer simulations are needed to study a physical process. In this paper, we proposed some general criteria for evaluating Latin hypercube designs through their alias matrices. Moreover, a general method is proposed for constructing orthogonal Latin hypercube designs. In particular, links between orthogonal designs (ODs), generalized orthogonal designs (GODs) and orthogonal Latin hypercube designs are established. The generated Latin hypercube designs have some favorable properties such as uniformity, orthogonality of the first and some second order terms, and optimality under the defined criteria.  相似文献

Discrete discrepancy has been utilized as a uniformity measure for comparing and evaluating factorial designs. In this paper, for asymmetrical factorials, we give some linkages between uniformity measured by the discrete discrepancy and other criteria, such as generalized minimum aberration (Xu and Wu, 2001) and minimum projection variance (Ai and Zhang, 2004). These close linkages show a significant justification for the discrete discrepancy used to measure uniformity of factorial designs, and provide an additional rationale for using uniform designs. There are two different systems of contrast parameterization when analyzing the interaction effects among the factors with more than two levels, i.e., linear-quadratic system and orthogonal components system. Based on the former system and an ANOVA model, Xu and Wu (2001) introduced the generalized wordlength pattern for general factorial designs. This paper shows that the generalized wordlength pattern exactly measures the balance pattern of interaction columns of a symmetrical design ground on the orthogonal components system, and thus an alternative angle to look at the generalized minimum aberration criterion is given. Families of Repeated Measurements Designs balanced for residual effects are constructed (whenever the divisibility conditions allow), under the assumption that the number of periods is less than the number of treatments and that each treatment precedes each other treatment once. These designs are then shown to be connected for both residual and direct treatment effects.  相似文献

A connection between a balanced fractional 2m factorial design of resolution 2l + 1 and a balanced array of strength 2l with index set {μ0, μ1,…, μ2l} was established by Yamamoto, Shirakura and Kuwada (1975). The main purpose of this paper is to give a connection between a balanced fractional 3m factorial design of resolution V and a balanced array of strength 4, size N, m constraints, 3 levels and index set {λl0l1l2}.  相似文献

This is a continuation of Part I of our previous paper (1980) on conbinatorial aspects of t-designs with t ≥ 2. Along the same developments as in Part I, this paper provides tables, assorted examples of t-designs, and interesting unsolved problems. A brief background and a short review of the literature related to each unsolved problem is also provided. Some tables list parameters of designs whose existence or nonexistence is not established in literature. Notation and numbering of Part I are still used here.  相似文献

We consider a search design for the 2m type such that at most knonnegative effects can be searched among (l+1)-factor interactions and estimated along with the effects up to l- factor interactions, provided (l+1)-factor and higher order interactions are negligible except for the k effects. We investigate some properties of a search design which is yielded by a balanced 2m design of resolution 2l+1 derived from a balanced array of strength 2(l+1). A necessary and sufficient condition for the balanced design of resolution 2l+1 to be a search design for k=1 is given. Optimal search designs for k=1 in the class of the balanced 2m designs of resolution V (l=2), with respect to the AD-optimality criterion given by Srivastava (1977), with N assemblies are also presented, where the range of (m,N) is (m=6; 28≤N≤41), (m=7; 35≤N≤63) and (m=8; 44≤N≤74).  相似文献

This paper presents the trace of the covariance matrix of the estimates of effects based on a fractional 2m factorial (2m-FF) design T of resolution V for the following two cases: One is the case where T is constructed by adding some restricted assemblies to an orthogonal array. The other is one where T is constructed by removing some restricted assemblies from an orthogonal array of index unity. In the class of 2m-FF designs of resolution V considered here, optimal designs with respect to the trace criterion, i.e. A-optimal, are presented for m = 4, 5, and 6 and for a range of practical values of N (the total number of assemblies). Some of them are better than the corresponding A-optimal designs in the class of balanced fractional 2m factorial designs of resolution V obtained by Srivastava and Chopra (1971b) in such a sense that the trace of the covariance matrix of the estimates is small.  相似文献

A number of D-optimal weighing designs are constructed with the help of block matrices. The D-optimal designs (n,k,s)=(19,13,10), (19,14,7), (19,14,8), (19,15,7), (19,15,8), (19,17,6), (19,18,6), (23,16,8), (23,17,8), (23,18,8), (4n?1,2n+3,(3n+4)/2), (4n?1,2n+4,n+3), (4n?1,2n+4,n+2) where n≡0 mod 4 and a skew Hn exists, (31,24,8), (31,25,8) and many others are constructed. A computer routine leading to locally D-optimal designs is presented.  相似文献

Properties of abelian groups are used to unify the construction of cyclic and generalized cyclic designs. Necessary and sufficient conditions are obtained for the generation of fractional sets of blocks, and also for the generation of resolvable designs. It is shown how to apply these results in conjunction with efficiency arguments to obtain useful designs.  相似文献

5 and 6 have recently introduced power-sequence terraces. In this paper we have used these terraces for the construction of some new families of balanced cross-over designs of first and second order which are variance-balanced. We have also used them for the construction of some new families of balanced ternary cross-over designs.  相似文献

Theorems 5, 6 and 10, and Tables 1–2 in Ghosh (1981) are corrected. These are concerned with search designs which permit the estimation of the general mean and main effects, and allow the search and estimation of one possibly unknown nonzero effect among the two- and three-factor interactions in 2m factorial experiments. Some new results are presented.  相似文献

A supersaturated design (SSD) is a design whose run size is not enough for estimating all the main effects. The goal in conducting such a design is to identify, presumably only a few, relatively dominant active effects with a cost as low as possible. However, data analysis of such designs remains primitive: traditional approaches are not appropriate in such a situation and several methods which were proposed in the literature in recent years are effective when used to analyze two-level SSDs. In this paper, we introduce a variable selection procedure, called the PLSVS method, to screen active effects in mixed-level SSDs based on the variable importance in projection which is an important concept in the partial least-squares regression. Simulation studies show that this procedure is effective.  相似文献

The present article establishes equivalence between extended group divisible (EGD) designs and designs for crop sequence experiments. This equivalence has encouraged the agricultural experimenters to use EGD designs for their experimentation. Some real life applications of EGD designs have been given. It has also been shown that several existing association schemes are special cases of EGD association scheme. Some methods of construction of EGD designs are also given. A catalogue of EGD designs obtainable through methods of construction along with efficiency factors of various factorial effects is also presented. In some crop sequence experiments that are conducted to develop suitable integrated nutrient supply system of a crop sequence, the treatments do not comprise of a complete factorial structure. The experimenter is interested in estimating the residual and direct effect of the treatments along with their cumulative effects. For such experimental settings block designs with two sets of treatments applied in succession are the appropriate designs. The correspondence established between row–column designs and block designs for two stage experiments by Parsad et al. [2003. Structurally incomplete row–column designs. Comm. Statist. Theory Methods 32(1), 239–261] has been exploited in obtaining designs for such experimental situations. Some open problems related to designing of crop sequence experiments are also given.  相似文献

The norm 6A6 = {tr(A′A)}12 of the alias matrix A of a design can be used as a measure for selecting a design. In this paper, an explicit expression for 6A6 will be given for a balanced fractional 2m factorial design of resolution 2l + 1 which obtained from a simple array with parameters (m; λ0, λ1,…, λm). This array is identical with a balanced array of strength m, m constraints and index set {λ0, λ1,…, λm}. In the class of the designs of resolution V (l = 2) obtained from S-arrays, ones which minimize 6A6 will be presented for any fixed N assemblies satisfying (i) m = 4, 11 ? N ? 16, (ii) m = 5, 16 ? N ? 32, and (iii) m = 6, 22 ? N ? 40.  相似文献

An explicit expression for the characteristic polynomial of the information matrix MT of a balanced fractional 3m factorial (3m-BFF) design T of resolution V is obtained by utilizing the algebraic structure of the underlying multidimentional relationship. Also by using of the multidimensional relationship algebra, the trace and the determinant of the covariance matrix of the estimates of effects are derived.  相似文献

A projective (2n,n,λ,1)-design is a set D of n element subsets (called blocks) of a 2n-element set V having the properties that each element of V is a member of λ blocks and every two blocks have a non-empty intersection. This paper establishes existence and non-existence results for various projective (2n,n,λ,1)-designs and their subdesigns.  相似文献
