A national survey jointly conducted by the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Public Security, China Federation of the Disabled, National Statistical Bureau and UNICEF in 2001 among 60,000 children, aged 0-6 and with disability, showed that nationwide, there were roughly a total of 1.395 million children with disability and 199,000 were added to the total number each year. Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Published the First Report on Development of Ageing Undertaking in China

Report on Development of Ageing Undertaking in China (2013), produced by China Research Center on Aging and published by Social Sciences Academic Press, was released on February 26 in Beijing. It is the first blue book on development of ageing undertaking in China. The blue book points out that in 2053 the number of aging population in China will reach the peak value of 487 million, a sevenfold increase compared with that in 2010

The Impact of Pollution on Labor Productivity

Based on Chinese provincial panel data from 1991 to 2010,the empirical study in this paper establishes partial equilibrium model, taking pollution as a variable, to examine the effects of pollution. The pollution affects labor productivity in two major ways: production and decision-making of labor input. The study indicates that pollution has positive influences on labor productivity in short term but negative ones in the long-term. Moreover the inverted "U" relation is found between pollution scale and labor productivity. While it is uprising when the pollution scale is small, the labor productivity is declining with the large pollution scale     

Total Population in Xinjiang Grows Steadily

Based on the sampling survey on population change in 2007 in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, it is estimated that by the end of 2007, the total residential population in Xinjiang reached 20. 9519 million, up by 451,900 compared with the previous year, and up by 2.2%.

A Study on the Feminization of Old Population in China

Based on the data of World Population Prospects 2010 visions, the paper analysis the feminization of old population in China. It is proved that like most countries of the world there exists the feminization of old population in China population, but both the level of the feminization of old population and the proportion of the oldest women among old women are much lower than the other countries. The paper point out that the higher mortality of female caused by gender discrimination in China contributes to the exceptional status of China. As the female mortality decreases with the socieconomic development, the level of feminization of old population in China will increase in the next decades.

There were his recent landscape creations on all the walls, including Bai Haba, which is near his hometown： Tuyugou＇s old villages on the southern slope of the Flaming Mountain. The tableau was profound, ancient and simple, with a sense of silence. It reflected his special emotion to his hometown.
