This paper gives necessary and sufficient conditions on σ, s, t and on μ, s, t for an array with s+t rows to have strength s and weight σ, or to be balanced and have strength s and weight μ. If a balanced array can exist, the conditions provide a construction. The solutions for t=1,2 are also given in an alternate form useful for the study of trim arrays. The balanced solution for t=1 is more detailed than that known so far, and permits one to determine whether or not a solution exists in possibly fewer steps.  相似文献

A connection between a balanced fractional 2m factorial design of resolution 2l + 1 and a balanced array of strength 2l with index set {μ0, μ1,…, μ2l} was established by Yamamoto, Shirakura and Kuwada (1975). The main purpose of this paper is to give a connection between a balanced fractional 3m factorial design of resolution V and a balanced array of strength 4, size N, m constraints, 3 levels and index set {λl0l1l2}.  相似文献

For 2m1+m2 factorial designs, this paper investigates balanced fractional 2m1 factorial designs of resolution 2l+1 with some nuisance parameters concerning the second factors. They are derivable from partially balanced arrays and further permit estimation of the effects up to the l-factor interactions concerning the first factors orthogonally to the nuisance parameters.  相似文献

Factor screening designs for searching two and three effective factors using the search linear model are discussed. The construction of such factor screening designs involved finding a fraction with small number of treatments of a 2m factorial experiment having the property P2t (no 2t columns are linearly dependent) for t=2 and 3. A ‘Packing Problem’ is introduced in this connection. A complete solution of the problem in one case and partial solutions for the other cases are presented. Many practically useful new designs are listed.  相似文献

Complete sets of orthogonal F-squares of order n = sp, where g is a prime or prime power and p is a positive integer have been constructed by Hedayat, Raghavarao, and Seiden (1975). Federer (1977) has constructed complete sets of orthogonal F-squares of order n = 4t, where t is a positive integer. We give a general procedure for constructing orthogonal F-squares of order n from an orthogonal array (n, k, s, 2) and an OL(s, t) set, where n is not necessarily a prime or prime power. In particular, we show how to construct sets of orthogonal F-squares of order n = 2sp, where s is a prime or prime power and p is a positive integer. These sets are shown to be near complete and approach complete sets as s and/or p become large. We have also shown how to construct orthogonal arrays by these methods. In addition, the best upper bound on the number t of orthogonal F(n, λ1), F(n, λ2), …, F(n, λ1) squares is given.  相似文献

A weighted A-optimality (WA-optimality) criterion is discussed for selecting a fractional 2m factorial design of resolution V. A WA-optimality criterion having one weight may be considered for designs. It is shown that designs derived from orthogonal arrays are WA-optimal for any weight. From a WA-optimal design, a procedure for finding WA-optimal designs for various weights is given. WA-optimal balanced designs are presented for 4 ⩽ m ⩽ 7 and for the values of n assemblies in certain ranges. It is pointed out that designs for m = 7 and for n = 41, 42 given in Chopra and Srivastava (1973a) or in the corrected paper by Chopra et al. (1986), are not A-optimal.  相似文献

Simulating a stationary AR(p), Xt = ∑pi=1αiXti + Zt, when the innovations {Zt} are assumed to be i.i.d. is straightforward. Starting the process in the stationary state, however, requires generation of (X1,X2,…,Xp) from the stationary p-dimensional distribution. When Zt is normal this may be achieved by generating Xi as a linear function of X1,X2,…,Xi−1 and an independent normal variate for i = 2,3,…, p. It is shown that the ability to initialize a stationary AR(p) in this way characterizes the normal distribution.  相似文献

Nonparametric regression techniques such as spline smoothing and local fitting depend implicitly on a parametric model. For instance, the cubic smoothing spline estimate of a regression function ∫ μ based on observations ti, Yi is the minimizer of Σ{Yi ‐ μ(ti)}2 + λ∫(μ′′)2. Since ∫(μ″)2 is zero when μ is a line, the cubic smoothing spline estimate favors the parametric model μ(t) = αo + α1t. Here the authors consider replacing ∫(μ″)2 with the more general expression ∫(Lμ)2 where L is a linear differential operator with possibly nonconstant coefficients. The resulting estimate of μ performs well, particularly if Lμ is small. They present an O(n) algorithm for the computation of μ. This algorithm is applicable to a wide class of L's. They also suggest a method for the estimation of L. They study their estimates via simulation and apply them to several data sets.  相似文献

Let q = mt + 1 be a prime power, and let v(m, t) be the (m + 1)-vector (b1, b2, …, bm + 1) of elements of GF(q) such that for each k, 1 ⩽ km + 1, the set {bibj:i∈{1,2,…m+1} − {m + 2 − k}, ji + k(mod m + 2) and 1⩽jm+1} forms a system of representatives for the cyclotomic classes of index m in GF(q). In this paper, we investigate the existence of such vectors. An upper bound on t for the existence of a v(m, t) is given for each fixed m unless both m and t are even, in which case there is no such a vector. Some special cases are also considered.  相似文献

By use of the algebraic structure, we obtain an explicit expression for the characteristic polynomial of the information matrix of a partially balanced fractional 2m1+m2 factorial design of resolution V derived from a partially balanced array. For 4≤m1+m2≤6, A-optimal designs considered here are also presented for reasonable number of assemblies.  相似文献

The norm 6A6 = {tr(A′A)}12 of the alias matrix A of a design can be used as a measure for selecting a design. In this paper, an explicit expression for 6A6 will be given for a balanced fractional 2m factorial design of resolution 2l + 1 which obtained from a simple array with parameters (m; λ0, λ1,…, λm). This array is identical with a balanced array of strength m, m constraints and index set {λ0, λ1,…, λm}. In the class of the designs of resolution V (l = 2) obtained from S-arrays, ones which minimize 6A6 will be presented for any fixed N assemblies satisfying (i) m = 4, 11 ? N ? 16, (ii) m = 5, 16 ? N ? 32, and (iii) m = 6, 22 ? N ? 40.  相似文献

Let GF(s) be the finite field with s elements.(Thus, when s=3, the elements of GF(s) are 0, 1 and 2.)Let A(r×n), of rank r, and ci(i=1,…,f), (r×1), be matrices over GF(s). (Thus, for n=4, r=2, f=2, we could have A=[11100121], c1=[10], c2=[02].) Let Ti (i=1,…,f) be the flat in EG(n, s) consisting of the set of all the sn?r solutions of the equations At=ci, wheret′=(t1,…,tn) is a vector of variables.(Thus, EG(4, 3) consists of the 34=81 points of the form (t1,t2,t3,t4), where t's take the values 0,1,2 (in GF(3)). The number of solutions of the equations At=ci is sn?r, where r=Rank(A), and the set of such solutions is said to form an (n?r)-flat, i.e. a flat of (n?r) dimensions. In our example, both T1 and T2 are 2-flats consisting of 34?2=9 points each. The flats T1,T2,…,Tf are said to be parallel since, clearly, no two of them can have a common point. In the example, the points of T1 are (1000), (0011), (2022), (0102), (2110), (1121), (2201), (1212) and (0220). Also, T2 consists of (0002), (2010), (1021), (2101), (1112), (0120), (1200), (0211) and (2222).) Let T be the fractional design for a sn symmetric factorial experiment obtained by taking T1,T2,…,Tf together. (Thus, in the example, 34=81 treatments of the 34 factorial experiment correspond one-one with the points of EG(4,3), and T will be the design (i.e. a subset of the 81 treatments) consisting of the 18 points of T1 and T2 enumerated above.)In this paper, we lay the foundation of the general theory of such ‘parallel’ types of designs. We define certain functions of A called the alias component matrices, and use these to partition the coefficient matrix X (n×v), occuring in the corresponding linear model, into components X.j(j=0,1,…,g), such that the information matrix X is the direct sum of the X′.jX.j. Here, v is the total number of parameters, which consist of (possibly μ), and a (general) set of (geometric) factorial effects (each carrying (s?1) degrees of freedom as usual). For j≠0, we show that the spectrum of X′.jX.j does not change if we change (in a certain important way) the usual definition of the effects. Assuming that such change has been adopted, we consider the partition of the X.j into the Xij (i=1,…,f). Furthermore, the Xij are in turn partitioned into smaller matrices (which we shall here call the) Xijh. We show that each Xijh can be factored into a product of 3 matrices J, ζ (not depending on i,j, and h) and Q(j,h,i)where both the Kronecker and ordinary product are used. We introduce a ring R using the additive groups of the rational field and GF(s), and show that the Q(j,h,i) belong to a ring isomorphic to R. When s is a prime number, we show that R is the cyclotomic field. Finally, we show that the study of the X.j and X′.jX.j can be done in a much simpler manner, in terms of certain relatively small sized matrices over R.  相似文献

Let Fq be a finite field with q elements, where q is a power of a prime. In this paper, we first correct a counting error for the formula N(K2ν,0(m)) occurring in Carlitz (1954. Arch. Math. V, 19–31). Next, using the geometry of symplectic group over Fq, we have given the numbers of solutions X of rank k and solutions X to equation XAX′=B over Fq, where A and B are alternate matrices of order n, rank 2ν and order m, rank 2s, respectively. Finally, an elementary q-identity is obtained from N(K2ν,0(0)), and the explicit results for N(Kn,2ν,Km,2s) is represented by terminating q-hypergeometric series.  相似文献

A [v, k, t] trade of volume m consists of two disjoint collections T1 and T2, each of m k-subsets of a v-set V, such that each t-subset of V is contained in the same number of blocks of T1 and T2, and each element of V is contained in at least one block of T1. We study [v, k, t] trades, and investigate their spectrum (i.e., the collections of allowable volumes), using both theoretical techniques and computer-based searches.  相似文献

Covering arrays with mixed alphabet sizes, or mixed covering arrays, are useful generalizations of covering arrays that are motivated by software and network testing. Suppose that there are k factors, and that the ith factor takes values or levels from a set Gi of size gi. A run is an assignment of an admissible level to each factor. A mixed covering array, MCA(N;t,k,g1g2gk), is a collection of N runs such that for any t distinct factors, i1,i2,…,it, every t-tuple from Gi1×Gi2×?×Git occurs in factors i1,i2,…,it in at least one of the N runs. When g=g1=g2=?=gk, an MCA(N;t,k,g1g2gk) is a CA(N;t,k,g). The mixed covering array number, denoted by MCAN(t,k,g1g2gk), is the minimum N for which an MCA(N;t,k,g1g2gk) exists. In this paper, we focus on the constructions of mixed covering arrays of strength three. The numbers MCAN(3,k,g1g2gk) are determined for all cases with k∈{3,4} and for most cases with k∈{5,6}.  相似文献

Consider k( ? 2) normal populations with unknown means μ1, …, μk, and a common known variance σ2. Let μ[1] ? ??? ? μ[k] denote the ordered μi.The populations associated with the t(1 ? t ? k ? 1) largest means are called the t best populations. Hsu and Panchapakesan (2004) proposed and investigated a procedure RHPfor selecting a non empty subset of the k populations whose size is at most m(1 ? m ? k ? t) so that at least one of the t best populations is included in the selected subset with a minimum guaranteed probability P* whenever μ[k ? t + 1] ? μ[k ? t] ? δ*, where P*?and?δ* are specified in advance of the experiment. This probability requirement is known as the indifference-zone probability requirement. In the present article, we investigate the same procedure RHP for the same goal as before but when k ? t < m ? k ? 1 so that at least one of the t best populations is included in the selected subset with a minimum guaranteed probability P* whatever be the configuration of the unknown μi. The probability requirement in this latter case is termed the subset selection probability requirement. Santner (1976) proposed and investigated a different procedure (RS) based on samples of size n from each of the populations, considering both cases, 1 ? m ? k ? t and k ? t < m ? k. The special case of t = 1 was earlier studied by Gupta and Santner (1973) and Hsu and Panchapakesan (2002) for their respective procedures.  相似文献

The aim of this study is to assign weights w 1, …, w m to m clustering variables Z 1, …, Z m , so that k groups were uncovered to reveal more meaningful within-group coherence. We propose a new criterion to be minimized, which is the sum of the weighted within-cluster sums of squares and the penalty for the heterogeneity in variable weights w 1, …, w m . We will present the computing algorithm for such k-means clustering, a working procedure to determine a suitable value of penalty constant and numerical examples, among which one is simulated and the other two are real.  相似文献

Let (X,Y) be a pair of random variables with supp(X)⊆[0,1] and EY2<∞. Let m be the corresponding regression function. Estimation of m from i.i.d. data is considered. The L2 error with integration with respect to the design measure μ (i.e., the distribution of X) is used as an error criterion.Estimates are constructed by estimating the coefficients of an orthonormal expansion of the regression function. This orthonormal expansion is done with respect to a family of piecewise polynomials, which are orthonormal in L2(μn), where μn denotes the empirical design measure. It is shown that the estimates are weakly and strongly consistent for every distribution of (X,Y). Furthermore, the estimates behave nearly as well as an ideal (but not applicable) estimate constructed by fitting a piecewise polynomial to the data, where the partition of the piecewise polynomial is chosen optimally for the underlying distribution. This implies e.g., that the estimates achieve up to a logarithmic factor the rate n−2p/(2p+1), if the underlying regression function is piecewise p-smooth, although their definition depends neither on the smoothness nor on the location of the discontinuities of the regression function.  相似文献

Two independent samples from control with N(μ1, σ2) and treatment with pN(μ1, σ2) + (1 − p)N(μ2, σ2) are considered. A locally most powerful invariant test for testing H0: μ1 = μ2 against H1 : μ2 > μ1, where σ2 > 0, 0 < p < 1 are unknown, is obtained. Also, the robustness of the test statistic on the lines of Kariya and Sinha (Robustness of Statistical Tests (1989). Academic Press, New York) is studied.  相似文献

This short article shows an unified approach to representing and computing the cumulative distribution function for noncentral t, F, and χ2. Unlike the existing algorithms, which involve different expansion and/or recurrence, the new approach consistently represents all the three noncentral cumulative distribution functions as the integral of the normal cumulative distribution function and χ2 density function.  相似文献
