Through the Years——Chinese Women Celebrate March 8

Chinese women celebrated their first International Women's Day in 1924. The celebration was held at the No.1 Public Park in Guangzhou City, initiated by the Central Women's Department of the Kuomintang government. During the celebration, Madame He Xiangning, who was in charge of publicity affairs, chaired a meeting that was attended by more than 1,000 people from women's federations and more than 20 public women's schools of higher education or professional training, including a women drivers' continuation school.

China's First Data Base of Women's Documents Emerges IN order to greet the UN Fourth World Conference on Women and promote the academic exchange of women's studies at home and abroad, China's first data base of women's documents, which was developed by the Research Department of Women's Studies of the All-China Women's Federation opened to the public this March. China's women's studies programs started in the 1980s.
