青岛市妇儿工委办进一步推进为妇女儿童办实事工作

The Shandong Provincial Party （Communist Party of China） Committee has included work related to the protection of women and children＇s legal rights and interests in the standards for the evaluation of government organs＇ work. Officials of the Qingdao （a city in East China＇s Shandong Province） Working Committee on Children and Women recently monitored the city＇s work related to women and children, and they concluded the city had done the following during the first half of this year：

The “special group” for protecting women and children＇s rights and interests, and for building peaceful families, in North China＇s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region held, in Hohhot （capital of the region） on July 7, a working conference on promoting the group＇s member units＇ roles in protecting women and children＇s rights and interests, and in building peaceful families.     

江苏省全力做好“十二五”妇女儿童发展规划编制工作

East China＇s Jiangsu Province has begun compiling the plan on children and women＇s development for the 12th Five-year Plan （2011-2015） period. Some of Jiangsu＇s cities, including Nanjing, Lianyungang and Taizhou, have some new ideas about and methods for compiling the plan. Federation Promotes Women＇s Handicrafts Brand for Charity

Mother＇s Art was established by Sichuan Women＇s Federation in October. The Mother＇s Art project is intended to spur development of the craft industry in Sichuan Province. Under the project, the women＇s federation provides financial assistance to underprivileged women, so they can acquire the skills needed to make crafts and, in turn, make money to care for their families. The project benefits women and children. Each woman who works in the province＇s craft industry, and each business that sells crafts made by the province＇s women, will join the project.

Shen Yueyue, Vice-Chairperson of the NPC （National People＇s Congress） Standing Committee and President of the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF） on February 11, 2014, chaired the symposium on work related to migrant women and children and left-behind women and children. The symposium was held in Nanchang, capital of East China＇s Jiangxi Province.

Yinchuan, capital of Northwest China＇s Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, is one of China＇s important commercial cities. The city is inhabited by more than 800,000 Hui and Han women and children. Over the past several years, the Yinchuan Women＇s Federation has taken the lead in establishing women＇s organizations, such as ＂Carnation Home＂ （an organization that provides financial aid, psychological counseling and free physical checkups to single mothers）, mutual-aid groups to benefit left-behind women （whose husbands have left home to work elsewhere）,     

山东省莒县颁布实施2014年度十件为妇女儿童办实事项目

The Office of Juxian County （in East China＇s Shandong Province）＇s Party （Communist Party of China） Committee and the Office of Juxian County People＇s Government in early April promulgated 10 projects to improve women and children＇s livelihoods in 2014. The projects （to be implemented throughout the rest of the year） include.     

儿童营养改善项目为贫困儿童送健康

The figures were alarming; in 2010, nearly 30 percent of the children under age 2 had anemia and more than 20 percent of the children under age 5 developed slower than ordinary children in poverty-stricken areas of China.
In 2012, the nutrition-improvement program （for children in poverty- stricken areas） was launched, in 100 impoverished counties in 10 provinces, by the National Health and Family Planning Commission and the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）, to improve the nutrition and physical conditioning of the regions＇ young children. Each child, between 6 months and 2 years of age, receive a nutritional package, which contains protein, vitamin and mineral supplements, every day. Officials of local women＇s federations also share nutrition and health information with the kids＇ parents.     

西安市建立妇女儿童发展研究基地

The Xi＇an （capital of Northwest China＇s Shaanxi Province） Women＇s Federation and Xi＇an Academy of Social Sciences recently hosted, in the academy, a conference to mark the founding of the Xi＇an Research Base of Women and Children＇s Development. More than 60 people -- including leaders of the federation and academy, liaison persons of the member units of the working committee on children and women under the municipal government, directors of the offices of the working committees on children and women under the governments of various districts and counties, and scholars dedicated to studying wolnen and children＇s development -- attended.     

国务院妇儿工委办公室组织专家开展“儿童纲要实施项目”国家级督导

To promote the National Program for Children＇s Development （2011-2020）, the Office of the National Working Committee on Children and Women （NWCCW） under the State Council, in cooperation with the United Nations International Children＇s Emergency Fund （UNICEF）, implemented a five-year （2011- 2015） project to promote implementation of the program in the 20 counties, cities or districts in which the project was introduced. The purpose of the project is to help solve the problems children face in their lives, to promote children＇s development and to protect children＇s legal rights and interests.

Improve System to Care for Floating, Rural Stay-at-home Children
More than 61 million stay-at-home children and more than 28 million floating children live in rural China. The Chinese Government and countless people in society attach importance to the children＇s healthy growth. In recent years, officials from the Department for Children, under the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）, have emphasized the need for the caring-service system for floating and rural stay-at-home children, and they have explored new methods for providing related services to the children.     

共享蓝天，快乐成长——吉林省妇联关爱儿童试点工作取得良好成效

The Sharing Blue Sky, Growing Up Happily -- Caring For Children Project was implemented provincewide by Jilin Women＇s Federation on June 8. The project is intended to help disabled children, migrant children and left-behind children （in rural areas） to grow up in a healthy way. Officials from the women＇s federation intend to help 10,000 children, and their parents, this year.

Alongside the rapid development of China＇s modernization and deepening economic and political reforms, the Women＇s Legal Aid Center of the All- China Women＇s Federation （ACWF） has achieved great progress in protecting women＇s rights and interests. 全国妇联召开健全农村留守儿童关爱服务体系专题研讨会

The seminar on improving the system used to care for rural left- behind children was held in January 2014 by the Department for Children, under the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）. in Nanchong, a city in South China＇s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Various experts and the presidents and directors-general of the departments for children under the wonlen＇s federations of 14 provinces, autonomous regions or municipalities attended.     

卫生部：优先为农村妇女儿童建健康档案

China will establish this year＇s health files for at least 20 percent of rural residents, and will give priority to women, children and seniors, Deng Haihua, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, told a recent news conference. Deng said the ministry began, in 2007, to establish rural family health files in 13 counties nationwide as part of the country＇s medical service system reform. ＂Standard electronic documents will replace conventional paper documentation throughout the country,＂ Deng added. ＂We, and the Ministry of Civil Affairs （MCA）, have also made efforts to improve medical security for children suffering from congenital heart disease and leukemia. New rural cooperative medical insurance and the MCA medical allowance now cover 90 percent of these patients＇ treatment fees,＂ Deng added.     

Campaign to Prevent Breast Cancer Launched in Beijing,Tianjin, Sichuan

To promote healthy living and to raise women＇s awareness of the importance of improving their health, the Women＇s Development Department of the All- China Women＇s Federation （ACWF） launched the long-distance-run campaign, entitled ＂running for health and beauty,＂ in late October. The event, which was held in Beijing, Tianjin Municipality （in North China） and Sichuan Province （in Southwest China）, was also intended to promote the implementation of the cancer-screening project. Thousands of women, who wore pink T-shirts, participated.     

ACWF Offers Training to Providers of Services to Rural Left-behind Children

The govemment of Dianjiang County, in Southwest China＇s Chongqing Municipality, attaches great importance to caring for left-behind children＇s mental health. Over the years, the government has organized experts from Dianjiang Women＇s Federation, Dianjiang County Hospital, Dianjiang Prison and thecounty＇s education commission to study various issues associated with children＇s mental health.     

联合国儿基会驻华代表考察宜昌市科学育儿指导中心

Gillian Mellsop, UNICEF＇s Representative to China, visited a children＇s center in Yichang （a city in Central China＇s Hubei Province） on August 28, 2014. During her visit, Mellsop learned about the center＇s development and the services with the technical support of a project jointly by UNICEF and the All-China Women＇s Federation. The project has helped families learn about early childhood development, children＇s care and parenting skills.     

Anhui Children Benefit from CCTF Charity Tour

The China Children and Teenagers＇ Fund （CCTF） organized a children＇s charity tour, in East China＇s Anhui Province, from October 26-29, 2014. According to the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）, China has 61 million left-behind children, whose parents have left their hometowns to earn a better living in urban areas. To ensure the proper development of the left-behind children. ACWF and CCTF launched the ＂Safeguarding Childhood,Walking Together with Love＂ nationwide project on July 28, 2014. The project was announced ill Beijing.
