Promoting Implementation of National Programs
To promote the implementation of the National Program for Women＇s Development （2011-2020） and the National Program for Children＇s Development （2011-2020） （the two new NPAs）, the Working Committee on Children and Women of Miyi County （in Southwest China＇s Sichuan Province） in recent years has established and/or improved the following nine mechanisms：     

鸟巢儿童体验中心

As the world＇s only Olympic-situational-experience project for children aged 3-12, the Children＇s Experience Center of Bird＇s Nest （National Stadium） advocates the idea that children should exercise regularly to improve their health.     

国务院妇儿工委办公室领导调研安阳两纲实施工作

Led by Su Fengjie, Deputy Director of the Office of the National Working Committee on Children and Women （NWCCW）, a team from NWCCW recently completed an inspection tour of Anyang （in Central China＇s Henan Province）, during which the team＇s members monitored the city＇s efforts to implement the National Program for Women＇s Development （2011-2020） and the National Program for Children＇s Development （2011-2020） （the two NPAs）.     

国务院妇儿工委办公室编制新两纲研讨会召开

The National Working Committee on Children and Women under the State Council （NWCCW） held a seminar on establishing two programs to promote the development of Chinese women and children. The seminar was held on April 7 2010, in Changsha, Central China＇s Hunan Province.     

Anhui Children Benefit from CCTF Charity Tour

The China Children and Teenagers＇ Fund （CCTF） organized a children＇s charity tour, in East China＇s Anhui Province, from October 26-29, 2014. According to the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）, China has 61 million left-behind children, whose parents have left their hometowns to earn a better living in urban areas. To ensure the proper development of the left-behind children. ACWF and CCTF launched the ＂Safeguarding Childhood,Walking Together with Love＂ nationwide project on July 28, 2014. The project was announced ill Beijing.     

Chongqing Improving Kindergarten Education for Migrant Workers＇ Children

A team, composed of representatives of the Office of the National Working Colnmittee on Children and Women （NWCCW）, the Office of the United Nations International Children＇s Emergency Fund （UNICEF） in China. the UNICEF Geneva Office and the IKEA Foundation, on September 5 monitored Chongqing （a municipality in Southwest China）＇s efforts to improve kindergarten education for migrant workers＇ children.     

湘贵甘三省儿童幸福家园项目培训启动

The Office of the National Working Committee on Children and Women （NWCCW） under the State Council and Plan International （China） on August 13 launched, in Shaoyang, in Central China＇s Hunan Province, the training course on the project of happy homcs for children. The project is being undertaken in Hunan, Guizhou （in Southwest China） and Gansu （in Northwest China） provinces.

西藏江孜县启动国家级妇女儿童发展纲要示范县工作 The government of Jiangzi County, in Southwest China＇s Tibet Autonomous Region, is promoting the implementation of the National Program for Women＇s Development （2011-2020） and the National Program for Children＇s Development （2011-2020） （two new NPAs）. The county was recently designated one of the experimental counties in which the programs will be implemented.     

什么是“两纲”？

The ＂2 NPAs＂ refer to the National Program for Women＇s Development （2001-2010） and the National Program for Children＇s Development （2001-2010）. Prior to the 2 NPAs, China had issued the National Program for Women＇s Development （1995-2000） and the National Program of Action for Child Development in China in the 1990s.     

“停止对儿童的暴力促进儿童保护”主题宣传活动在京举行

The All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF） and the United Nations Children＇s Fund （UNICEF） in Beijing launched, in conjunction with National Legal Knowledge Publicity Day （on December 4, 2013）, an activity to call on society to make a concerted effort to combat violence against children, to protect their legal rights and interests. Tan Lin, Member of the Secretariat of ACWF, and Geeta Rao Gupta, Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF, spoke during the activity. Jiang Yue＇e, Director of ACWF＇s Legal Department, hosted the event.     

关爱儿童

《我国家庭教育指导服务现状调查报告》发布 Initial findings are in and, based on the survey＇s results, the Chinese Government plans to play a greater role in the guidance of family education across the nation. The Chinese Family Education Guidance Service Report was released -- by officials from the China Family Education Society （CFES）, the Department for Children of the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）, and the China National Children＇s Center （CNCC） during a news conference in Beijing, on September 15.     

共享蓝天，快乐成长——吉林省妇联关爱儿童试点工作取得良好成效

The Sharing Blue Sky, Growing Up Happily -- Caring For Children Project was implemented provincewide by Jilin Women＇s Federation on June 8. The project is intended to help disabled children, migrant children and left-behind children （in rural areas） to grow up in a healthy way. Officials from the women＇s federation intend to help 10,000 children, and their parents, this year.     

青岛市妇儿工委办进一步推进为妇女儿童办实事工作

The Shandong Provincial Party （Communist Party of China） Committee has included work related to the protection of women and children＇s legal rights and interests in the standards for the evaluation of government organs＇ work. Officials of the Qingdao （a city in East China＇s Shandong Province） Working Committee on Children and Women recently monitored the city＇s work related to women and children, and they concluded the city had done the following during the first half of this year：     

2014年“三八”妇女维权周活动在京举行

To promote the spirit of the 18th CPC （Communist Party of China） National Congress and the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee, and to help women better understand the nation＇s laws, the All- China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）, the Office of the Central Committee for Comprehensive Management of Social Security, and China＇s Ministry of Justice on February 12 issued the notice that the 2014 Women＇s Rights- protection Week would be held in March.     

Educating Juvenile Offenders

Leaders of Zaozhuang （a city in East China＇s Shandong Province） Women＇s Federation visit orphans and disabled children in Zaozhuang Children＇s Welfare Office. The hospital of the 22nd Regiment of the Second Agricultural Division of the Xinjiang （in Northwest China） Production and Construction Corps, in Xinjiang＇s Hejing County, recently distributed, among doctors and nurses, a handbook to illustrate the importance of working in the frontier.     

Campaign to Prevent Breast Cancer Launched in Beijing,Tianjin, Sichuan

To promote healthy living and to raise women＇s awareness of the importance of improving their health, the Women＇s Development Department of the All- China Women＇s Federation （ACWF） launched the long-distance-run campaign, entitled ＂running for health and beauty,＂ in late October. The event, which was held in Beijing, Tianjin Municipality （in North China） and Sichuan Province （in Southwest China）, was also intended to promote the implementation of the cancer-screening project. Thousands of women, who wore pink T-shirts, participated.     

听见爱的呼唤——“听障儿童救助专项基金”首批受益儿童来京治疗

Five hearing-impaired children arrived in Beijing on December 3, 2013, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, to receive free cochlear implants at the General Hospital of the People＇s Liberation Army （PLA）. The children became the first beneficiaries of a fund -- established by China Children and Teenagers＇ Foundation （CCTF）, the PLA General Hospital, People＇s Insurance Company of China （PICC） and Hangzhou Nurotron Biotechnology Co., Ltd -- to treat hearing-impaired children.     

联合国儿基会驻华代表考察宜昌市科学育儿指导中心

Gillian Mellsop, UNICEF＇s Representative to China, visited a children＇s center in Yichang （a city in Central China＇s Hubei Province） on August 28, 2014. During her visit, Mellsop learned about the center＇s development and the services with the technical support of a project jointly by UNICEF and the All-China Women＇s Federation. The project has helped families learn about early childhood development, children＇s care and parenting skills.     

妇女发展

“两癌筛查”造福广大农村妇女 Women make special contributions to social progress and human development, as they give birth to and raise their children. Therefore, it is vital that their health be protected properly. In 2009, the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF） and China＇s ministries of Health and Finance implemented the cancer- screening project. Under the project, rural Chinese women can receive free screening for cervical and breast cancer （the ＂two cancers＂）. Tile project＇s aims are to raise awareness about the importance of healthcare and to detect the ＂two cancers＂ early so afflicted women can receive timely medical treatment.     

沈跃跃主持召开留守流动妇女儿童工作座谈会

Shen Yueyue, Vice-Chairperson of the NPC （National People＇s Congress） Standing Committee and President of the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF） on February 11, 2014, chaired the symposium on work related to migrant women and children and left-behind women and children. The symposium was held in Nanchang, capital of East China＇s Jiangxi Province.
