Lack of access to funding is the main obstacle to women in rural China who want to start their own businesses.
To counter that problem, Liaoning Women＇s Federation has made unremitting efforts to implement the Small Secured-Loan Discount-lnterest Policy in recent years. For example, the federation has monitored the policy＇s implementation in villages, and it has conducted research in the villages to determine what women need and how it can meet those needs.

Beauty in the Fields
Situated on Zhegu Mountain, which has a thick forest and clear springs, Suomo Region, in Ma＇erkang County, in Southwest China＇s Sichuan Province, is widely considered to be the home of beautiful women. A dozen Tibetan villages are situated in the quiet valleys, which are surrounded by green trees.

Yinchuan, capital of Northwest China＇s Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, is one of China＇s important commercial cities. The city is inhabited by more than 800,000 Hui and Han women and children. Over the past several years, the Yinchuan Women＇s Federation has taken the lead in establishing women＇s organizations, such as ＂Carnation Home＂ （an organization that provides financial aid, psychological counseling and free physical checkups to single mothers）, mutual-aid groups to benefit left-behind women （whose husbands have left home to work elsewhere）,

The Yinchuan Women＇s Federation （in Northwest China＇s Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region）, in recent years, has scored outstanding achievements in improving women and children＇s lives, and in encouraging women to participate in the management and decision- making of social affairs.To protect women and children＇s legal rights and interests, the federation has taken the lead in establishing the home for women and women＇s rights-protection work station, and in formulating the system, in which lawyers take turns to handle （for free） women＇s letters and visits.

Alongside the rapid development of China＇s modernization and deepening economic and political reforms, the Women＇s Legal Aid Center of the All- China Women＇s Federation （ACWF） has achieved great progress in protecting women＇s rights and interests. How？ It has been offering better services and legal aid to women. At the same time, many new problems and difficulties have emerged.

THE All-China Women's Federation(ACWF) has established some 60.000 basic units in Party and government organizations above the county level throughout the country. The units include women's committees in 78 ministries and commissions of the State Council Program Director Ms. Zhang Xiaoyuan noted that the ACWF has extended its basic organizations from villages and neighborhoods to tens of millions of women workers and cadres nationwide since 1993. The effort has opened a new network serving urban professional women, and meets the new demands the reform and opening have placed on work for women. The results have thus proved highly beneficial.     

青岛市妇儿工委办进一步推进为妇女儿童办实事工作

The Shandong Provincial Party （Communist Party of China） Committee has included work related to the protection of women and children＇s legal rights and interests in the standards for the evaluation of government organs＇ work. Officials of the Qingdao （a city in East China＇s Shandong Province） Working Committee on Children and Women recently monitored the city＇s work related to women and children, and they concluded the city had done the following during the first half of this year：

沈跃跃会见新加坡驻华大使 Shen Yueyue, Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People＇s Congress and President of the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）, met Loh Ka Leung, Singapore＇s Ambassador to China, at the Great Hall of the People, in Beijing, on September 27. They relations and women＇s exchanges between exchanged opinions on how to improve China and Singapore.

The ＂Chinese Dream＂ has become deeply rooted in Chinese people＇s hearts because it involves China＇s prosperity and rejuvenation, and because it involves Chinese people＇s happiness. The dreams of Chinese women are not merely a part of the ＂Chinese Dream;＂ instead, the dreams make up a key foundation of the ＂Chinese Dream.＂     

妇女进步与我们的未来 全国妇联副主席孟晓驷在香港“北京＋15妇女地位论坛”上的演讲（摘要）

It is my pleasure to be here in Hong Kong at the Beijing ＋ 15 Forum of Status of Women amid the elegance and charm of China＇s Pearl of the Orient, and to have the opportunity to meet and discuss with the women of Hong Kong their good works. As this year marks the 15th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, it is an apt date indeed for the Hong Kong Federation of Women to hold this forum. One hundred years ago, the Second International Socialist Women＇s Conference designated March 8 International Women＇s Day. Since then, March 8 has been a festival for women around the world.

China＇s rural economy has undergone rapid development in recent years, and that economic growth has given rise to a new profession -- agricultural-products agents. Many of those agents are women; they are active in all aspects of agricultural production, and they are playing important roles in promoting rural economic development.     

千里结亲情帮扶献爱心——全国妇联定点帮扶漳县成果显著

Zhangxian County, in Gansu Province （in Northwest China）, covers 2,164 square kilometers. There are 160 villages and 17 towns （townships） in the county. Since 1998, when the State Council, the Chinese Government＇s cabinet, designaled the county as one of the All-China Women＇s t,ederation （ACWF）＇s poverty-alleviation target areas, ACWF has been dedicated to promoting the area＇s economic and social development, and to helping the residents escape poverty.

At the invitation of Leul Gebreab, President of the National Union of Eritrean Women （NUEW）, Meng Xiaosi, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）, led a delegation of Chinese women to pay a visit to Eritrea from June 8 to 10. Meng met Hagos Gebrehiwet, Head of Economic Affairs of the People＇s Front for Democracy and Justice （PFDJ, the ruling party in Eritrea）.     

"Bainiaoyi, " Bamboo-Pipe Wind Instrument Troupe

The "Bainiaoyi," or Bamboo-Pipe Wind Instrument Troupe, consists of young men and women of Miao nationality of the mountain villages in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Each of them can dance and sing well, and are often invited to perform in provinces and cities across China. Because of this, these young peasants who live deep in the mountain villages get a chance to leave their isolated homelands to visit other parts of the world and broaden their scope. The Miao people aren't the only ones to benefit from these travels. More and more people now have the opportunity to     

Federation Promotes Women＇s Handicrafts Brand for Charity

Mother＇s Art was established by Sichuan Women＇s Federation in October. The Mother＇s Art project is intended to spur development of the craft industry in Sichuan Province. Under the project, the women＇s federation provides financial assistance to underprivileged women, so they can acquire the skills needed to make crafts and, in turn, make money to care for their families. The project benefits women and children. Each woman who works in the province＇s craft industry, and each business that sells crafts made by the province＇s women, will join the project.     

2014年“三八”妇女维权周活动在京举行

To promote the spirit of the 18th CPC （Communist Party of China） National Congress and the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee, and to help women better understand the nation＇s laws, the All- China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）, the Office of the Central Committee for Comprehensive Management of Social Security, and China＇s Ministry of Justice on February 12 issued the notice that the 2014 Women＇s Rights- protection Week would be held in March.     

2013女性传媒大奖

Ten Chinese women were named ＂Models of the Year＂ during an annual awards ceremony on December 9, 2013, in Beijing. The Women Media Awards ceremony was sponsored by lady. 163.com and the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women （UN- Women）. It was the first event of its kind in China, which has made a commitment to the promotion of gender equality and women＇s progress in various sectors.

Invited by the president of Polish Women＇s League, a four-member delegation of Chinese women visited Poland and attended the event to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Polish Women＇s League from October 18-20, 2013. The delegation, headed by Mu Hong, Director-General of the International Department of the All-China Women＇s Federation, visited grass-roots organizations of Polish Women＇s League. A. Michalak, President of Polish Women＇s League, met with the delegation. Both sides shared their opinions on improving the friendly cooperation between Chinese and Polish women. The visit helped to renew the traditional friendship between ACWF and Polish Women＇s League.

Officials of the Guizhou Provincial Women＇s Federation organized a meeting, in October, so they could hear experts＇ analyses of cases that involved the protection of women and children＇s rights and interests.     

全国妇联和联合国儿基会赴云南实地调研

Officials from the Legal Department of the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）, the United Nations Children＇s Fund （UNICEF）, and the women＇s federations in Tianjin （municipality） and Hubei, Jiangsu and Yunnan provinces visited Huaning County, Yuxi, a city in Yunnan Province, on January 9, 2014. The purpose of the trip was to allow officials to see firsthand how the 12388 hotline （used to protect women＇s rights and interests） operates, and to visit local women＇s homes and various cmnmunity-based child- protection projects.
