The ＂Mother An＇xin Project,＂ with the theme ＂Improve women＇s healthcare service,＂ was launched by China Women＇s Development Foundation in the Great Hall of the People, in Beijing, on March 22, 2010. Chert Zhili, Vice-Chairperson of the National People＇s Congress Standing Committee and President of the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）, attended the ceremony. Song Xiuyan, Vice-President of the ACWF, delivered a speech during the ceremony. Huang Qingyi, President of China Women＇s Development Foundation （CWDF）, and Zhen Yan, Vice-President of the ACWF, Zhengli Jinfen, Chairwoman of Amway （China） Co. Ltd, attended.     

Campaign to Prevent Breast Cancer Launched in Beijing,Tianjin, Sichuan

To promote healthy living and to raise women＇s awareness of the importance of improving their health, the Women＇s Development Department of the All- China Women＇s Federation （ACWF） launched the long-distance-run campaign, entitled ＂running for health and beauty,＂ in late October. The event, which was held in Beijing, Tianjin Municipality （in North China） and Sichuan Province （in Southwest China）, was also intended to promote the implementation of the cancer-screening project. Thousands of women, who wore pink T-shirts, participated.

＇Showing a Beautiful World＇ Exhibition Held To commemorate the 100th anniversary of International Women＇s Day （IWD）, the women＇s federation in Baoshan District, Shanghai, held the ＂Showing a Beautiful World＂ Exhibition to display works by Baoshan women. Although IWD was on March 8, the exhibit was held in Shanghai on March 1. In December 2009, the Baoshan Women＇s Federation announced its plan to collect original works by Baoshan women. The response was positive. Women contributed more than 120 calligraphies, paintings, photographs and embroideries, among other works. The items reflected the wisdom of the women, displayed Baoshan women＇s pursuit of beauty, and extended the women＇s best wishes to the World Expo 2010 Shanghai. The expo will open on May 1.

Michelle Bachelet, former President of Chile （2006-2010）, on September 14, was named Under- Secretary-General for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women （UN Women） of the United Nations. UN Women, a newly created United Nations office to promote gender equality and the empowerment of women, was established on July 2 by the UN＇s General Assembly, which merged four gender entities into one. UN Women will promote the interests of women and girls across the globe. ＂Ms Bachelet brings to this critical position a history of dynamic global leadership, highly honed political skills and uncommon ability to create consensus and focus among UN agencies and many partners, in both the public and private sector,＂ UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said when he announced the appointment. ＂

Shen Attends Sixth World Women University Presidents Forum
Shen Yueyue, Vice-Chairperson of the NPC （National People＇s Congress） Standing Committee and President ot＂ the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）, attended the opening ceremony of tile Sixth World Women University Presidents Forum. The event was held in Beijing on September 6, 2014.     

China-Canada Project Teaches Wuyi Women Tailoring

HOT as it was, He Suhua was exceptionally happy at the opening ceremony of the Seventh Dress-making Training Class in Wuyi County, as part of the China Canada Women in Development Project. He, a head of women at Huaifu Village, dressed in clothes made by a woman who had studied in the third dress-making training class, led 11 new trainees to the county seat

JUNE 5, 1994 has been mandated World Environment Day. On this day the first meeting on Women and the Environment in China was held in Beijing and the Declaration of Chinese Women on Environment was established.
