Dear Women of China,
I＇m interested in your magazine, but there＇s no way for me to get copies of it where I live. I see that your website has an electronic version of the magazine, but it＇s only one issue, it＇s a few months old, it＇s difficult to read （because you have to wait for the pages to enlarge）, and you have to click on the pages to flip them back to the table of contents or reload the whole page. It＇s extremely aggravating and not at all easy for readers to use.     

荒山里的“绿色梦”

Kejing, a town in Jiyuan, in Central China＇s Henan Province, is a mountainous area. Li Rui, a woman from the region, has dedicated her life to changing the once-barren mountain in Zaomiao, her home village （which is in the town＇s boundary）, into an oasis. During the past three decades, she and Zhu Wen, her husband, have entered into contracts to plant trees on nearly 1,000 mu （164 acres） of barren mountain land. Their persevering efforts have paid off： they have established, on the once-barren mountain, a large tree farm, and they have opened it as a resort -- to tourists.     

Improving System to Care for Rural Left-behind Children

The Chinese Government and countless people in society attach importance to the healthy growth of rural left-behind children. In recent years, officials fl＇om the Department for Children, under the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）, have emphasized the need to enhance existing system for caring for rural left-behind children. They have explored ways of providing services to care for rural left-behind children.

Improve System to Care for Floating, Rural Stay-at-home Children
More than 61 million stay-at-home children and more than 28 million floating children live in rural China. The Chinese Government and countless people in society attach importance to the children＇s healthy growth. In recent years, officials from the Department for Children, under the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）, have emphasized the need for the caring-service system for floating and rural stay-at-home children, and they have explored new methods for providing related services to the children.

The phrase ＂nil hanzi＂ （manly woman） has become popular in recent months; in tact, the features of＂nil hanzi＂ have been listed and discussed extensively on the Internet. Such women, who are independent and who have tough personalities, don＇t act like spoiled children. They don＇t like to wear makeup. They make friends with men easily. They work hard to support their families. They are capable of dealing with problems, both at home and in the workplace.

Dear Women of China,
I＇ll be studying Chinese in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, in the summer, but my school is rather small and doesn＇t have its own cafeteria or dining plan. Students have to purchase their meals or cook for themselves in their apartments. I know there will be restaurants nearby, but I want to save money instead of spending extra for meals.

It is my pleasure to be here in Hong Kong at the Beijing ＋ 15 Forum of Status of Women amid the elegance and charm of China＇s Pearl of the Orient, and to have the opportunity to meet and discuss with the women of Hong Kong their good works. As this year marks the 15th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, it is an apt date indeed for the Hong Kong Federation of Women to hold this forum. One hundred years ago, the Second International Socialist Women＇s Conference designated March 8 International Women＇s Day. Since then, March 8 has been a festival for women around the world.     

Anhui Children Benefit from CCTF Charity Tour

The China Children and Teenagers＇ Fund （CCTF） organized a children＇s charity tour, in East China＇s Anhui Province, from October 26-29, 2014. According to the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）, China has 61 million left-behind children, whose parents have left their hometowns to earn a better living in urban areas. To ensure the proper development of the left-behind children. ACWF and CCTF launched the ＂Safeguarding Childhood,Walking Together with Love＂ nationwide project on July 28, 2014. The project was announced ill Beijing.
