In this article, we use the empirical likelihood method to construct the confidence region for parameters in autoregressive model with martingale difference error. It is shown that the empirical log-likelihood ratio at the true parameter converges to the standard chi-square distribution. The simulation results suggest that the empirical likelihood method outperforms the normal approximation based method in terms of coverage probability.  相似文献

In this article, we consider empirical likelihood inference for the parameter in the additive partially linear models when the linear covariate is measured with error. By correcting for attenuation, a corrected-attenuation empirical log-likelihood ratio statistic for the unknown parameter β, which is of primary interest, is suggested. We show that the proposed statistic is asymptotically standard chi-square distribution without requiring the undersmoothing of the nonparametric components, and hence it can be directly used to construct the confidence region for the parameter β. Some simulations indicate that, in terms of comparison between coverage probabilities and average lengths of the confidence intervals, the proposed method performs better than the profile-based least-squares method. We also give the maximum empirical likelihood estimator (MELE) for the unknown parameter β, and prove the MELE is asymptotically normal under some mild conditions.  相似文献

Abstract

This paper investigates the first-order random coefficient integer valued autoregressive process with the occasional level shift random noise based on dual empirical likelihood. The limiting distribution of log empirical likelihood ratio statistic is constructed. Asymptotic convergence and confidence region results of empirical likelihood ratio are given. Hypothesis testing is considering, and maximum empirical likelihood estimation for parameter is acquired. Simulations are given to show that the maximum empirical likelihood estimation is more efficient than the conditional least squares estimation.  相似文献

The purpose of this article is to use the empirical likelihood method to study construction of the confidence region for the parameter of interest in semiparametric varying-coefficient heteroscedastic partially linear errors-in-variables models. When the variance functions of the errors are known or unknown, we propose the empirical log-likelihood ratio statistics for the parameter of interest. For each case, a nonparametric version of Wilks’ theorem is derived. The results are then used to construct confidence regions of the parameter. A simulation study is carried out to assess the performance of the empirical likelihood method.  相似文献

Generalized partially linear varying-coefficient models (GPLVCM) are frequently used in statistical modeling. However, the statistical inference of the GPLVCM, such as confidence region/interval construction, has not been very well developed. In this article, empirical likelihood-based inference for the parametric components in the GPLVCM is investigated. Based on the local linear estimators of the GPLVCM, an estimated empirical likelihood-based statistic is proposed. We show that the resulting statistic is asymptotically non-standard chi-squared. By the proposed empirical likelihood method, the confidence regions for the parametric components are constructed. In addition, when some components of the parameter are of particular interest, the construction of their confidence intervals is also considered. A simulation study is undertaken to compare the empirical likelihood and the other existing methods in terms of coverage accuracies and average lengths. The proposed method is applied to a real example.  相似文献

In this paper we use the empirical likelihood method to construct confidence interval for truncation parameter in random truncation model. The empirical log-likelihood ratio is derived and its asymptotic distribution is shown to be a weighted chi-square. Simulation studies are used to compare the confidence intervals based on empirical likelihood and those based on normal approximation. It is found that the empirical likelihood method provides improved confidence interval.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with statistical inference for partially nonlinear models. Empirical likelihood method for parameter in nonlinear function and nonparametric function is investigated. The empirical log-likelihood ratios are shown to be asymptotically chi-square and then the corresponding confidence intervals are constructed. By the empirical likelihood ratio functions, we also obtain the maximum empirical likelihood estimators of the parameter in nonlinear function and nonparametric function, and prove the asymptotic normality. A simulation study indicates that, compared with normal approximation-based method and the bootstrap method, the empirical likelihood method performs better in terms of coverage probabilities and average length/widths of confidence intervals/bands. An application to a real dataset is illustrated.  相似文献

In this article, we consider the application of the empirical likelihood method to a partially linear single-index model. We focus on the case where some covariates are measured with additive errors. It is shown that the empirical log-likelihood ratio at the true parameter converges to the standard chi-square distribution. Simulations show that the proposed confidence region has coverage probability which is closer to the nominal level, as well as narrower than those of normal approximation method. A real data example is given.  相似文献

In this article, we use bockwise empirical likelihood technique to construct confidence regions for the parameter of the single-index models under negatively associated errors. It is shown that the blockwise empirical likelihood ratio statistic for the parameter of interest is asymptotically χ2-type distributed. The result can be used to obtain confidence regions for the parameter of interest.  相似文献

This article deals with a new profile empirical-likelihood inference for a class of frequently used single-index-coefficient regression models (SICRM), which were proposed by Xia and Li (J. Am. Stat. Assoc. 94:1275–1285, 1999a). Applying the empirical likelihood method (Owen in Biometrika 75:237–249, 1988), a new estimated empirical log-likelihood ratio statistic for the index parameter of the SICRM is proposed. To increase the accuracy of the confidence region, a new profile empirical likelihood for each component of the relevant parameter is obtained by using maximum empirical likelihood estimators (MELE) based on a new and simple estimating equation for the parameters in the SICRM. Hence, the empirical likelihood confidence interval for each component is investigated. Furthermore, corrected empirical likelihoods for functional components are also considered. The resulting statistics are shown to be asymptotically standard chi-squared distributed. Simulation studies are undertaken to assess the finite sample performance of our method. A study of real data is also reported.  相似文献

We propose the penalized empirical likelihood method via bridge estimator in Cox's proportional hazard model for parameter estimation and variable selection. Under reasonable conditions, we show that penalized empirical likelihood in Cox's proportional hazard model has oracle property. A penalized empirical likelihood ratio for the vector of regression coefficients is defined and its limiting distribution is a chi-square distributions. The advantage of penalized empirical likelihood as a nonparametric likelihood approach is illustrated in testing hypothesis and constructing confidence sets. The method is illustrated by extensive simulation studies and a real example.  相似文献

We extend the empirical likelihood beyond its domain by expanding its contours nested inside the domain with a similarity transformation. The extended empirical likelihood achieves two objectives at the same time: escaping the “convex hull constraint” on the empirical likelihood and improving the coverage accuracy of the empirical likelihood ratio confidence region to $O(n^{-2})$ . The latter is accomplished through a special transformation which matches the extended empirical likelihood with the Bartlett corrected empirical likelihood. The extended empirical likelihood ratio confidence region retains the shape of the original empirical likelihood ratio confidence region. It also accommodates adjustments for dimension and small sample size, giving it good coverage accuracy in large and small sample situations. Kendall and Gehan estimating functions are commonly used to estimate the regression parameter in accelerated failure time model with censored observations in survival analysis. In this paper, we apply the jackknife empirical likelihood method to overcome the computation difficulty about interval estimation. A Wilks’ theorem of jackknife empirical likelihood for U-statistic type estimating equations is established, which is used to construct the confidence intervals for the regression parameter. We carry out an extensive simulation study to compare the Wald-type procedure, the empirical likelihood method, and the jackknife empirical likelihood method. The proposed jackknife empirical likelihood method has a better performance than the existing methods. We also use a real data set to compare the proposed methods.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the statistical inference for the varying-coefficient partially nonlinear model with additive measurement errors in the nonparametric part. The local bias-corrected profile nonlinear least-squares estimation procedure for parameter in nonlinear function and nonparametric function is proposed. Then, the asymptotic normality properties of the resulting estimators are established. With the empirical likelihood method, a local bias-corrected empirical log-likelihood ratio statistic for the unknown parameter, and a corrected and residual adjusted empirical log-likelihood ratio for the nonparametric component are constructed. It is shown that the resulting statistics are asymptotically chi-square distribution under some suitable conditions. Some simulations are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed methods. The results indicate that the empirical likelihood method is superior to the profile nonlinear least-squares method in terms of the confidence regions of parameter and point-wise confidence intervals of nonparametric function.  相似文献

The hybrid bootstrap uses resampling ideas to extend the duality approach to the interval estimation for a parameter of interest when there are nuisance parameters. The confidence region constructed by the hybrid bootstrap may perform much better than the ordinary bootstrap region in a situation where the data provide substantial information about the nuisance parameter, but limited information about the parameter of interest. We apply this method to estimate the post-change mean after a change is detected by a stopping procedure in a sequence of independent normal variables. Since distribution theory in change point problems is generally a challenge, we use bootstrap simulation to find empirical distributions of test statistics and calculate critical thresholds. Both likelihood ratio and Bayesian test statistics are considered to set confidence regions for post-change means in the normal model. In the simulation studies, the performance of hybrid regions are compared with that of ordinary bootstrap regions in terms of the widths and coverage probabilities of confidence intervals.  相似文献

In this article, empirical likelihood inferences for the varying coefficient partially nonlinear models are investigated. An empirical log-likelihood ratio function for the unknown parameter vector in the nonlinear function part and a residual-adjusted empirical log-likelihood ratio function for the nonparametric component are proposed. The corresponding Wilks phenomena are proved and the confidence regions for parametric component and nonparametric component are constructed. Simulation studies indicate that, in terms of coverage probabilities and average areas of the confidence regions, the empirical likelihood method performs better than the normal approximation-based method. Furthermore, a real data set application is also provided to illustrate the proposed empirical likelihood estimation technique.  相似文献

Integer-valued time series models and their applications have attracted a lot of attention over the last years. In this paper, we introduce a class of observation-driven random coefficient integer-valued autoregressive processes based on negative binomial thinning, where the autoregressive parameter depends on the observed values of the previous moment. Basic probability and statistics properties of the process are established. The unknown parameters are estimated by the conditional least squares and empirical likelihood methods. Specially, we consider three aspects of the empirical likelihood method: maximum empirical likelihood estimate, confidence region and EL test. The performance of the two estimation methods is compared through simulation studies. Finally, an application to a real data example is provided.  相似文献

Variable selection in regression analysis is of importance because it can simplify model and enhance predictability. After variable selection, however, the resulting working model may be biased when it does not contain all of significant variables. As a result, the commonly used parameter estimation is either inconsistent or needs estimating high-dimensional nuisance parameter with very strong assumptions for consistency, and the corresponding confidence region is invalid when the bias is relatively large. We in this paper introduce a simulation-based procedure to reformulate a new model so as to reduce the bias of the working model, with no need to estimate high-dimensional nuisance parameter. The resulting estimators of the parameters in the working model are asymptotic normally distributed whether the bias is small or large. Furthermore, together with the empirical likelihood, we build simulation-based confidence regions for the parameters in the working model. The newly proposed estimators and confidence regions outperform existing ones in the sense of consistency.  相似文献

Effective implementation of likelihood inference in models for high‐dimensional data often requires a simplified treatment of nuisance parameters, with these having to be replaced by handy estimates. In addition, the likelihood function may have been simplified by means of a partial specification of the model, as is the case when composite likelihood is used. In such circumstances tests and confidence regions for the parameter of interest may be constructed using Wald type and score type statistics, defined so as to account for nuisance parameter estimation or partial specification of the likelihood. In this paper a general analytical expression for the required asymptotic covariance matrices is derived, and suggestions for obtaining Monte Carlo approximations are presented. The same matrices are involved in a rescaling adjustment of the log likelihood ratio type statistic that we propose. This adjustment restores the usual chi‐squared asymptotic distribution, which is generally invalid after the simplifications considered. The practical implication is that, for a wide variety of likelihoods and nuisance parameter estimates, confidence regions for the parameters of interest are readily computable from the rescaled log likelihood ratio type statistic as well as from the Wald type and score type statistics. Two examples, a measurement error model with full likelihood and a spatial correlation model with pairwise likelihood, illustrate and compare the procedures. Wald type and score type statistics may give rise to confidence regions with unsatisfactory shape in small and moderate samples. In addition to having satisfactory shape, regions based on the rescaled log likelihood ratio type statistic show empirical coverage in reasonable agreement with nominal confidence levels.  相似文献
