We consider the estimation of the conditional hazard function of a scalar response variable Y given a Hilbertian random variable X when the observations are linked via a single-index structure in the quasi-associated framework. We establish the pointwise almost complete convergence and the uniform almost complete convergence (with the rate) of the estimate of this model. A simulation is given to illustrate the good behavior in the practice of our methodology.  相似文献

In this paper, we develop a semiparametric regression model for longitudinal skewed data. In the new model, we allow the transformation function and the baseline function to be unknown. The proposed model can provide a much broader class of models than the existing additive and multiplicative models. Our estimators for regression parameters, transformation function and baseline function are asymptotically normal. Particularly, the estimator for the transformation function converges to its true value at the rate n ? 1 ∕ 2, the convergence rate that one could expect for a parametric model. In simulation studies, we demonstrate that the proposed semiparametric method is robust with little loss of efficiency. Finally, we apply the new method to a study on longitudinal health care costs.  相似文献

Let {Xn, n ? 1} be a sequence of asymptotically almost negatively associated (AANA, for short) random variables which is stochastically dominated by a random variable X, and {dni, 1 ? i ? n, n ? 1} be a sequence of real function, which is defined on a compact set E. Under some suitable conditions, we investigate some convergence properties for weighted sums of AANA random variables, especially the Lp convergence and the complete convergence. As an application, the Marcinkiewicz–Zygmund-type strong law of large numbers for AANA random variables is obtained.  相似文献

In this article, the complete convergence for weighted sums of extended negatively dependent (END, for short) random variables is investigated. Some sufficient conditions for the complete convergence are provided. In addition, the Marcinkiewicz–Zygmund type strong law of large numbers for weighted sums of END random variables is obtained. The results obtained in the article generalise and improve the corresponding one of Wang et al. [(2014b), ‘On Complete Convergence for an Extended Negatively Dependent Sequence’, Communications in Statistics-Theory and Methods, 43, 2923–2937]. As an application, the complete consistency for the estimator of nonparametric regression model is established.  相似文献

We describe some simple methods for improving the performance of stationarity tests (i.e., tests that have a stationary null and a unit-root alternative). Specifically, we increase the rate of convergence of the test under the unit-root alternative from O p(T) to O p (T 2), then suggest an optimal method of selecting the order of the autoregressive component in the fitted autoregressive integrated moving average model on which the test is based. Simulation evidence suggests that these modifications work well. We apply the modified procedure to U.S. monthly macroeconomic data and uncover new evidence of a unit root in unemployment.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

We consider the estimation of the conditional cumulative distribution function of a scalar response variable Y given a Hilbertian random variable X when the observations are linked via a single-index structure. We establish the pointwise and the uniform almost complete convergence (with the rate) of the kernel estimate of this model. As an application, we show how our result can be applied in the prediction problem via the conditional median estimate. Also, the choice of the functional index via the cross-validation procedure is also discussed but not attacked.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the superimposed exponential signals in zero-mean multiplicative and additive noise when all the noise are independently and identically distributed. We use a three-step iterative procedure to estimate the frequencies of the considered model. It is observed that the estimators are consistent and work quite well in terms of biases and mean square errors. Moreover, the convergence rate of the estimators attains O p (N ?3/2), which is the best convergence rate in the case of only additive noise and constant amplitude.  相似文献

In this article, we develop a Bayesian analysis in autoregressive model with explanatory variables. When σ2 is known, we consider a normal prior and give the Bayesian estimator for the regression coefficients of the model. For the case σ2 is unknown, another Bayesian estimator is given for all unknown parameters under a conjugate prior. Bayesian model selection problem is also being considered under the double-exponential priors. By the convergence of ρ-mixing sequence, the consistency and asymptotic normality of the Bayesian estimators of the regression coefficients are proved. Simulation results indicate that our Bayesian estimators are not strongly dependent on the priors, and are robust.  相似文献

We consider a social network from which one observes not only network structure (i.e., nodes and edges) but also a set of labels (or tags, keywords) for each node (or user). These labels are self-created and closely related to the user’s career status, life style, personal interests, and many others. Thus, they are of great interest for online marketing. To model their joint behavior with network structure, a complete data model is developed. The model is based on the classical p1 model but allows the reciprocation parameter to be label-dependent. By focusing on connected pairs only, the complete data model can be generalized into a conditional model. Compared with the complete data model, the conditional model specifies only the conditional likelihood for the connected pairs. As a result, it suffers less risk from model misspecification. Furthermore, because the conditional model involves connected pairs only, the computational cost is much lower. The resulting estimator is consistent and asymptotically normal. Depending on the network sparsity level, the convergence rate could be different. To demonstrate its finite sample performance, numerical studies (based on both simulated and real datasets) are presented.  相似文献

Our aim is to estimate the unknown slope function in the functional linear model when the response Y is real and the random function X is a second-order stationary and periodic process. We obtain our estimator by minimizing a standard (and very simple) mean-square contrast on linear finite dimensional spaces spanned by trigonometric bases. Our approach provides a penalization procedure which allows to automatically select the adequate dimension, in a non-asymptotic point of view. In fact, we can show that our penalized estimator reaches the optimal (minimax) rate of convergence in the sense of the prediction error. We complete the theoretical results by a simulation study and a real example that illustrates how the procedure works in practice.  相似文献

The classical histogram method has already been applied in line transect sampling to estimate the parameter f(0), which in turns is used to estimate the population abundance D or the population size N. It is well know that the bias convergence rate for histogram estimator of f(0) is o(h2) as h → 0, under the shoulder condition assumption. If the shoulder condition is not true, then the bias convergence rate is only o(h). This paper proposed two new estimators for f(0), which can be considered as modifications of the classical histogram estimator. The first estimator is derived when the shoulder condition is assumed to be valid and it reduces the bias convergence rate from o(h2) to o(h3). The other one is constructed without using the shoulder condition assumption and it reduces the bias convergence rate from o(h) to o(h2). The asymptotic properties of the proposed estimators are derived and formulas for bin width are also given. The finite properties based on a real data set and an extensive simulation study demonstrated the potential practical use of the proposed estimators.  相似文献

Abstract

In this paper, we study the complete consistency for the estimator of nonparametric regression model based on martingale difference errors, and obtain the convergence rates of the complete consistency by using the inequalities for martingale difference sequence. Finally, some simulations are illustrated.  相似文献

We consider the GARCH-type model: S = σ2 Z, where σ2 and Z are independent random variables. The density of σ2 is unknown whereas the one of Z is known. We want to estimate the density of σ2 from n observations of S under some dependence assumption (the exponentially strongly mixing dependence). Adopting the wavelet methodology, we construct a nonadaptive estimator based on projections and an adaptive estimator based on the hard thresholding rule. Taking the mean integrated squared error over Besov balls, we prove that the adaptive one attains a sharp rate of convergence.  相似文献

Suppose that we have a nonparametric regression model Y = m(X) + ε with XRp, where X is a random design variable and is observed completely, and Y is the response variable and some Y-values are missing at random. Based on the “complete” data sets for Y after nonaprametric regression imputation and inverse probability weighted imputation, two estimators of the regression function m(x0) for fixed x0Rp are proposed. Asymptotic normality of two estimators is established, which is used to construct normal approximation-based confidence intervals for m(x0). We also construct an empirical likelihood (EL) statistic for m(x0) with limiting distribution of χ21, which is used to construct an EL confidence interval for m(x0).  相似文献

In the paper, we shall establish some limit theorems for the nonparametric estimator of the regression model, which include Lp-convergence, complete convergence, and strong convergence of the estimator. These results supplement and improve some known works.  相似文献

Estimation of the mean of an exponential distribution based on record data has been treated by Samaniego and Whitaker [F.J. Samaniego, and L.R. Whitaker, On estimating popular characteristics from record breaking observations I. Parametric results, Naval Res. Logist. Quart. 33 (1986), pp. 531–543] and Doostparast [M. Doostparast, A note on estimation based on record data, Metrika 69 (2009), pp. 69–80]. When a random sample Y 1, …, Y n is examined sequentially and successive minimum values are recorded, Samaniego and Whitaker [F.J. Samaniego, and L.R. Whitaker, On estimating popular characteristics from record breaking observations I. Parametric results, Naval Res. Logist. Quart. 33 (1986), pp. 531–543] obtained a maximum likelihood estimator of the mean of the population and showed its convergence in probability. We establish here its convergence in mean square error, which is stronger than the convergence in probability. Next, we discuss the optimal sample size for estimating the mean based on a criterion involving a cost function as well as the Fisher information based on records arising from a random sample. Finally, a comparison between complete data and record is carried out and some special cases are discussed in detail.  相似文献

In this paper, the complete convergence and complete moment convergence for arrays of rowwise m-extended negatively dependent (m-END, for short) random variables are established. As an application, the Marcinkiewicz-Zygmund type strong law of large numbers for m-END random variables is also achieved. By using the results that we established, we further investigate the strong consistency of the least square estimator in the simple linear errors-in-variables models, and provide some simulations to verify the validity of our theoretical results.  相似文献

Models that involve an outcome variable, covariates, and latent variables are frequently the target for estimation and inference. The presence of missing covariate or outcome data presents a challenge, particularly when missingness depends on the latent variables. This missingness mechanism is called latent ignorable or latent missing at random and is a generalisation of missing at random. Several authors have previously proposed approaches for handling latent ignorable missingness, but these methods rely on prior specification of the joint distribution for the complete data. In practice, specifying the joint distribution can be difficult and/or restrictive. We develop a novel sequential imputation procedure for imputing covariate and outcome data for models with latent variables under latent ignorable missingness. The proposed method does not require a joint model; rather, we use results under a joint model to inform imputation with less restrictive modelling assumptions. We discuss identifiability and convergence‐related issues, and simulation results are presented in several modelling settings. The method is motivated and illustrated by a study of head and neck cancer recurrence. Imputing missing data for models with latent variables under latent‐dependent missingness without specifying a full joint model.  相似文献

In this paper we consider a recursive method of Robbins–Monro type to estimate the solution of the linear problem Ax = u, in which the second member is measured with α-mixing errors. We also show the almost complete convergence (a.co) of this algorithm specifying its convergence rate.  相似文献

This paper presents a methodology for model fitting and inference in the context of Bayesian models of the type f(Y | X,θ)f(X|θ)f(θ), where Y is the (set of) observed data, θ is a set of model parameters and X is an unobserved (latent) stationary stochastic process induced by the first order transition model f(X (t+1)|X (t),θ), where X (t) denotes the state of the process at time (or generation) t. The crucial feature of the above type of model is that, given θ, the transition model f(X (t+1)|X (t),θ) is known but the distribution of the stochastic process in equilibrium, that is f(X|θ), is, except in very special cases, intractable, hence unknown. A further point to note is that the data Y has been assumed to be observed when the underlying process is in equilibrium. In other words, the data is not collected dynamically over time. We refer to such specification as a latent equilibrium process (LEP) model. It is motivated by problems in population genetics (though other applications are discussed), where it is of interest to learn about parameters such as mutation and migration rates and population sizes, given a sample of allele frequencies at one or more loci. In such problems it is natural to assume that the distribution of the observed allele frequencies depends on the true (unobserved) population allele frequencies, whereas the distribution of the true allele frequencies is only indirectly specified through a transition model. As a hierarchical specification, it is natural to fit the LEP within a Bayesian framework. Fitting such models is usually done via Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC). However, we demonstrate that, in the case of LEP models, implementation of MCMC is far from straightforward. The main contribution of this paper is to provide a methodology to implement MCMC for LEP models. We demonstrate our approach in population genetics problems with both simulated and real data sets. The resultant model fitting is computationally intensive and thus, we also discuss parallel implementation of the procedure in special cases.  相似文献
