Fourth order rotatable designs are discussed. A general k, design moment inequality is given. The variance function for two-factor designs is derived, and plotted for a specific design. A minimum point set requirement for two-factor designs is established, thus enabling one to form an infinity of such designs. Some difficulties in obtaining deLigns for k>2 are described. Two types of symmetry can arise when the proportions of mixture components are constrained by upper and lower bounds. These two types of symmetry are shown to be useful for blocking first-order designs, as well as for finding the centroid of the experimental region. Orthogonal blocking of first-order mixture designs provides a method of including process variables in the mixture experiment, with the mixture terms orthogonal to the process factors. Symmetric regions are used to develop spherical and rotatable response surface designs for mixtures. The central composite design and designs based on the icosahedron and the dodecahedron are given for four-component mixtures. The uniform shell designs are three-level designs when applied to mixture experiments.  相似文献

Experimental designs are widely used in predicting the optimal operating conditions of the process parameters in lifetime improvement experiments. The most commonly observed lifetime distributions are log-normal, exponential, gamma and Weibull. In the present article, invariant robust first-order rotatable designs are derived for autocorrelated lifetime responses having log-normal, exponential, gamma and Weibull distributions. In the process, robust first-order D-optimal and rotatable conditions have been derived under these situations. For these lifetime distributions with correlated errors, it is shown that robust first-order D-optimal designs are always robust rotatable but the converse is not true. Moreover, it is observed that robust first-order D-optimal and rotatable designs depend on the respective error variance–covariance structure but are independent from these considered lifetime response distributions.  相似文献

This article considers response surface designs in which the number of levels of some of the factors are constrained. Two general types of designs are examined: CUBE designs and STAR designs. In this paper, a new experimental design and gradient estimation procedure is presented for Phase I response surface optimization. The design is motivated by basic principles of differential calculus, which imply that if a point in Rn has been reached by exactly minimizing a function along a given direction, then the gradient of the function at that point must be orthogonal to the search direction followed. While exact line search is not required for the new design to be effective, this principle implies that the dimension of the gradient estimation procedure may often be reduced from n to n-1 variables, and the experimenter is able to concentrate experimental effort within the most productive region around the center of the design. The new design and gradient estimation procedures are presented, and bias and variance properties are derived. The effectiveness of the new design is shown to depend on the experimenter's ability to terminate line search within a near-stationary region of the line search function A simple heuristic is presented which indicates whether the new design should be used at a given experimental region.  相似文献

For polynomial regression over spherical regions the d-th order Ds-optimal designs for the λ-th order models are derived for 1 ≤ λ ≤ d ≤ 4. Efficiencies of these designs with respect to the λ-th order D-optimal designs are obtained. Locating the optimal operating conditions of the process parameters is critical in a lifetime improvement experiment. For log-normal lifetime distribution with compound error structure (i.e., symmetry, inter-class and intra-class correlation error structures), we have developed methods for construction of D-optimal robust first order designs. Testing for stochastic order among K populations is a common and important problem in statistical practice. It arises in the analysis of both planned experiments and observational studies. The authors develop a new nonparametric test for order among K populations that can accommodate any stochastic ordering. The test is based on a maximally selected chi‐bar‐square statistic. The authors find its limiting distribution and use simulations to derive critical values. Three important examples are used to illustrate the applicability of the general method. Summary

The concepts of D-, A- and E-minimax optimality criteria of designs for estimating the slopes of a response surface are considered for situations where the region of interest may not be identical to the experimental region. Optimal second-order designs are derived for the situation where the experimental region and the region of interest are both hyperspherical with a common centre. The dependence of the optimal design on the relative sizes of the regions is investigated. Further, the perfomance of designs optimal for one region in estimating slopes in other regions is also examined.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new measure of rotatability of a response surface design. It is based on a comparison between the design moments of a given design and the design moments of a rotatable design closest to the given design in the least squares sense. This measure is easier to calculate than Khur?s measure. An alternative easier non-geometrical way of deriving Khuri's measure is also presented. Both measures are calculated to illustrate some designs considered by Khuri.  相似文献
