In t h i s note mixture models are used to represent overdispersion relative to Poisson or binomial distributions. We flnd a sufflclent condition on the mixing distribution underich the detection of mixture departures from the Poisson or binomial adrnits a locally most powerful unbiased test. The conditions specify plynoria: relations between the variance and mean of Le glxing distribution.  相似文献

For the models given V = v (a common random stress), X and Y are independently exponentially distributed with failure rates λ1and λ2v, testing H0λ1λ2using a random ‘paired’ sample is considered. It is shown that a uniformly most powerful invariant test does not exist even for one sided alternatives; locally most powerful invariant tests are derived and compared with existing procedures. The method is illustrated with reliability data. Finally, the robustness of the tests when the relationships of the failure rates to V is more complex are established.  相似文献

All existing location-scale rank tests use equal weights for the components. We advocate the use of weighted combinations of statistics. This approach can partly be substantiated by the theory of locally most powerful tests. We specifically investi= gate a Wilcoxon-Mood combination. We give exact critical values for a range of weights. The asymptotic normality of the test statistic is proved under a general hypothesis and Chernoff-Savage conditions. The asymptotic relative efficiency of this test with respect to unweighted combinations shows that a careful choice of weights results in a gain in efficiency.  相似文献

The negative binomial (NB)-mixed regression in many situations is more appropriate for analysing the correlated and over-dispersed count data. In this paper, a score test for assessing extra zeros against the NB-mixed regression in the correlated count data with excess zeros is developed. The sampling distribution and power of the score test statistic is evaluated using a simulation study. The results show that under a wide range of conditions, the score statistic performs satisfactorily. Finally, the use of the score test is illustrated on DMFT index data of children aged 12 years old.  相似文献

The zero-inflated negative binomial (ZINB) model is used to account for commonly occurring overdispersion detected in data that are initially analyzed under the zero-inflated Poisson (ZIP) model. Tests for overdispersion (Wald test, likelihood ratio test [LRT], and score test) based on ZINB model for use in ZIP regression models have been developed. Due to similarity to the ZINB model, we consider the zero-inflated generalized Poisson (ZIGP) model as an alternate model for overdispersed zero-inflated count data. The score test has an advantage over the LRT and the Wald test in that the score test only requires that the parameter of interest be estimated under the null hypothesis. This paper proposes score tests for overdispersion based on the ZIGP model and illustrates that the derived score statistics are exactly the same as the score statistics under the ZINB model. A simulation study indicates the proposed score statistics are preferred to other tests for higher empirical power. In practice, based on the approximate mean–variance relationship in the data, the ZINB or ZIGP model can be considered, and a formal score test based on asymptotic standard normal distribution can be employed for assessing overdispersion in the ZIP model. We provide an example to illustrate the procedures for data analysis.  相似文献

A test is derived for short‐memory correlation in the conditional variance of strictly positive, skewed data. The test is quasi‐locally most powerful (QLMP) under the assumption of conditionally gamma data. Analytical asymptotic relative efficiency calculations show that an alternative test, based on the first‐order autocorrelation coefficient of the squared data, has negligible relative power to detect correlation in the conditional variance. Finite‐sample simulation results confirm the poor performance of the squares‐based test for fixed alternatives, as well as demonstrating the poor performance of the test based on the first‐order autocorrelation coefficient of the raw (levels) data. The robustness of the QLMP test, both to misspecification of the conditional distribution and to misspecification of the dynamics, is also demonstrated using simulation. The test is illustrated using financial trade durations data.  相似文献

Clustered count data are commonly analysed by the generalized linear mixed model (GLMM). Here, the correlation due to clustering and some overdispersion is captured by the inclusion of cluster-specific normally distributed random effects. Often, the model does not capture the variability completely. Therefore, the GLMM can be extended by including a set of gamma random effects. Routinely, the GLMM is fitted by maximizing the marginal likelihood. However, this process is computationally intensive. Although feasible with medium to large data, it can be too time-consuming or computationally intractable with very large data. Therefore, a fast two-stage estimator for correlated, overdispersed count data is proposed. It is rooted in the split-sample methodology. Based on a simulation study, it shows good statistical properties. Furthermore, it is computationally much faster than the full maximum likelihood estimator. The approach is illustrated using a large dataset belonging to a network of Belgian general practices.  相似文献

We investigate the properties of the locally most powerful nonparametric criterion against logistic alternatives developed by Govindarajulu (1975) for testing one-way random effects modcls. We deduce the appropriate computational forms for the test criterion T and tabulate the critical values of T for α = .01, .05 and 0.10, and various sample sizes. Certain features of the computational methods are discussed. In the tables we retain only those sample sizes beyond which the asymptotic theory is meaningful. We also study the power comparison of the test for two populations with the classical F-test under a range of normal alternatives.  相似文献

In this article, we investigate the efficiency of score tests for testing a censored Poisson regression model against censored negative binomial regression alternatives. Based on the results of a simulation study, score tests using the normal approximation, underestimate the nominal significance level. To remedy this problem, bootstrap methods are proposed. We find that bootstrap methods keep the significance level close to the nominal one and have greater power uniformly than does the normal approximation for testing the hypothesis.  相似文献

Hall (2000) has described zero‐inflated Poisson and binomial regression models that include random effects to account for excess zeros and additional sources of heterogeneity in the data. The authors of the present paper propose a general score test for the null hypothesis that variance components associated with these random effects are zero. For a zero‐inflated Poisson model with random intercept, the new test reduces to an alternative to the overdispersion test of Ridout, Demério & Hinde (2001). The authors also examine their general test in the special case of the zero‐inflated binomial model with random intercept and propose an overdispersion test in that context which is based on a beta‐binomial alternative.  相似文献

Abstract

This article is devoted to study the problem of test of periodicity in the restricted exponential autoregressive (EXPAR) model. The local asymptotic normality property, of this model, is shown via the adapted sufficient conditions due to Swensen (1985 Swensen, A.R. (1985). The asymptotic distribution of the likelihood ratio for autoregressive time series with a regression trend. J. Multivariate Anal. 16:5470.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]). Using this result, in the case where the innovation density is specified, we obtain a parametric local asymptotic “most stringent” test.  相似文献

In 1935, R.A. Fisher published his well-known “exact” test for 2x2 contingency tables. This test is based on the conditional distribution of a cell entry when the rows and columns marginal totals are held fixed. Tocher (1950) and Lehmann (1959) showed that Fisher s test, when supplemented by randomization, is uniformly most powerful among all the unbiased tests UMPU). However, since all the practical tests for 2x2 tables are nonrandomized - and therefore biased the UMPU test is not necessarily more powerful than other tests of the same or lower size. Inthis work, the two-sided Fisher exact test and the UMPU test are compared with six nonrandomized unconditional exact tests with respect to their power. In both the two-binomial and double dichotomy models, the UMPU test is often less powerful than some of the unconditional tests of the same (or even lower) size. Thus, the assertion that the Tocher-Lehmann modification of Fisher's conditional test is the optimal test for 2x2 tables is unjustified.  相似文献

The negative binomial (NB) model and the generalized Poisson (GP) model are common alternatives to Poisson models when overdispersion is present in the data. Having accounted for initial overdispersion, we may require further investigation as to whether there is evidence for zero-inflation in the data. Two score statistics are derived from the GP model for testing zero-inflation. These statistics, unlike Wald-type test statistics, do not require that we fit the more complex zero-inflated overdispersed models to evaluate zero-inflation. A simulation study illustrates that the developed score statistics reasonably follow a χ2 distribution and maintain the nominal level. Extensive simulation results also indicate the power behavior is different for including a continuous variable than a binary variable in the zero-inflation (ZI) part of the model. These differences are the basis from which suggestions are provided for real data analysis. Two practical examples are presented in this article. Results from these examples along with practical experience lead us to suggest performing the developed score test before fitting a zero-inflated NB model to the data.  相似文献

Sen Gupta (1988) considered a locally most powerful (LMP) test for testing nonzero values of the equicorrelation coefficient of a standard symmetric multivariate normal distribution. This paper constructs analogous tests for the symmetric multivariate normal distribution. It shows that the new test is uniformly most powerful invariant even in the presence of a nuisance parameter, σ2. Further applications of LMP invariant tests to several equicorrelated populations have been considered and an extension to panel data modeling has been suggested.  相似文献

An extension of the generalized linear mixed model was constructed to simultaneously accommodate overdispersion and hierarchies present in longitudinal or clustered data. This so‐called combined model includes conjugate random effects at observation level for overdispersion and normal random effects at subject level to handle correlation, respectively. A variety of data types can be handled in this way, using different members of the exponential family. Both maximum likelihood and Bayesian estimation for covariate effects and variance components were proposed. The focus of this paper is the development of an estimation procedure for the two sets of random effects. These are necessary when making predictions for future responses or their associated probabilities. Such (empirical) Bayes estimates will also be helpful in model diagnosis, both when checking the fit of the model as well as when investigating outlying observations. The proposed procedure is applied to three datasets of different outcome types. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Wei et al. [B.C. Wei, J.Q. Shi, W.K. Fung, and Y.Q. Hu, Testing for varying dispersion in exponential family nonlinear models, Ann. Inst. Statist. Math. 50 (1998), pp. 277–294.] developed the score diagnostics for varying dispersion in exponential family nonlinear models, such as the normal, inverse Gaussian, and gamma models, and investigated the powers of these tests through Monte Carlo simulations. In this paper, the asymptotic behaviours, including asymptotic chi-square and approximate powers under local alternatives of the score tests, are studied and examined by Monte Carlo simulations. The methods to estimate local powers of the score tests are illustrated with Grass yield data [P. McCullagh, and J.A. Nelder, Generalized Linear Models, Chapman and Hall, London (1989).].  相似文献

In this study, we deal with the problem of overdispersion beyond extra zeros for a collection of counts that can be correlated. Poisson, negative binomial, zero-inflated Poisson and zero-inflated negative binomial distributions have been considered. First, we propose a multivariate count model in which all counts follow the same distribution and are correlated. Then we extend this model in a sense that correlated counts may follow different distributions. To accommodate correlation among counts, we have considered correlated random effects for each individual in the mean structure, thus inducing dependency among common observations to an individual. The method is applied to real data to investigate variation in food resources use in a species of marsupial in a locality of the Brazilian Cerrado biome.  相似文献

This paper develops a robust estimation procedure for the varying-coefficient partially linear model via local rank technique. The new procedure provides a highly efficient and robust alternative to the local linear least-squares method. In other words, the proposed method is highly efficient across a wide class of non-normal error distributions and it only loses a small amount of efficiency for normal error. Moreover, a test for the hypothesis of constancy for the nonparametric component is proposed. The test statistic is simple and thus the test procedure can be easily implemented. We conduct Monte Carlo simulation to examine the finite sample performance of the proposed procedures and apply them to analyse the environment data set. Both the theoretical and the numerical results demonstrate that the performance of our approach is at least comparable to those existing competitors.  相似文献
