For a continuous random variable X with support equal to (a, b), with c.d.f. F, and g: Ω1 → Ω2 a continuous, strictly increasing function, such that Ω1∩Ω2?(a, b), but otherwise arbitrary, we establish that the random variables F(X) ? F(g(X)) and F(g? 1(X)) ? F(X) have the same distribution. Further developments, accompanied by illustrations and observations, address as well the equidistribution identity U ? ψ(U) = dψ? 1(U) ? U for UU(0, 1), where ψ is a continuous, strictly increasing and onto function, but otherwise arbitrary. Finally, we expand on applications with connections to variance reduction techniques, the discrepancy between distributions, and a risk identity in predictive density estimation.  相似文献

When f( · ) is known, we derive the Berry–Esseen type bounds for estimators of β and g( · ) under {ei,?1 ? i ? n} is a sequence of stationary α-mixing random variables, when f( · ) is unknown, the Berry–Esseen type bounds for estimators of β, g( · ), and f( · ) are discussed under independent errors.  相似文献

In partly linear models, the dependence of the response y on (x T, t) is modeled through the relationship y=x T β+g(t)+?, where ? is independent of (x T, t). We are interested in developing an estimation procedure that allows us to combine the flexibility of the partly linear models, studied by several authors, but including some variables that belong to a non-Euclidean space. The motivating application of this paper deals with the explanation of the atmospheric SO2 pollution incidents using these models when some of the predictive variables belong in a cylinder. In this paper, the estimators of β and g are constructed when the explanatory variables t take values on a Riemannian manifold and the asymptotic properties of the proposed estimators are obtained under suitable conditions. We illustrate the use of this estimation approach using an environmental data set and we explore the performance of the estimators through a simulation study.  相似文献

Given a copula C, we examine under which conditions on an order isomorphism ψ of [0, 1] the distortion C ψ: [0, 1]2 → [0, 1], C ψ(x, y) = ψ{C?1(x), ψ?1(y)]} is again a copula. In particular, when the copula C is totally positive of order 2, we give a sufficient condition on ψ that ensures that any distortion of C by means of ψ is again a copula. The presented results allow us to introduce in a more flexible way families of copulas exhibiting different behavior in the tails.  相似文献

In this article, we study the joint distribution of X and two linear combinations of order statistics, a T Y (2) and b T Y (2), where a = (a 1, a 2) T and b = (b 1, b 2) T are arbitrary vectors in R 2 and Y (2) = (Y (1), Y (2)) T is a vector of ordered statistics obtained from (Y 1, Y 2) T when (X, Y 1, Y 2) T follows a trivariate normal distribution with a positive definite covariance matrix. We show that this distribution belongs to the skew-normal family and hence our work is a generalization of Olkin and Viana (J Am Stat Assoc 90:1373–1379, 1995) and Loperfido (Test 17:370–380, 2008).  相似文献

We consider the regression model yi = ?(xi ) + ε in which the function ? or its pth derivative ?(p) may have a discontinuity at some unknown point τ. By fitting local polynomials from the left and right, we test the null that ?(p) is continuous against the alternative that ?(p)(τ?) ≠ ?(p)(τ+). We obtain Darling-Erdös type limit theorems for the test statistics under the null hypothesis of no change, as well as their limits in probability under the alternative. Let H(x, y) be a continuous bivariate distribution function with known marginal distribution functions F(x) and G(y). Suppose the values of H are given at several points, H(x i , y i ) = θ i , i = 1, 2,…, n. We first discuss conditions for the existence of a distribution satisfying these conditions, and present a procedure for checking if such a distribution exists. We then consider finding lower and upper bounds for such distributions. These bounds may be used to establish bounds on the values of Spearman's ρ and Kendall's τ. For n = 2, we present necessary and sufficient conditions for existence of such a distribution function and derive best-possible upper and lower bounds for H(x, y). As shown by a counter-example, these bounds need not be proper distribution functions, and we find conditions for these bounds to be (proper) distribution functions. We also present some results for the general case, where the values of H(x, y) are known at more than two points. In view of the simplification in notation, our results are presented in terms of copulas, but they may easily be expressed in terms of distribution functions.  相似文献

There are many situations where the usual random sample from a population of interest is not available, due to the data having unequal probabilities of entering the sample. The method of weighted distributions models this ascertainment bias by adjusting the probabilities of actual occurrence of events to arrive at a specification of the probabilities of the events as observed and recorded. We consider two different classes of contaminated or mixture of weight functions, Γ a ={w(x):w(x)=(1−ε)w 0(x)+εq(x),qQ} and Γ g ={w(x):w(x)=w 0 1−ε (x)q ε(x),qQ} wherew 0(x) is the elicited weighted function,Q is a class of positive functions and 0≤ε≤1 is a small number. Also, we study the local variation of ϕ-divergence over classes Γ a and Γ g . We devote on measuring robustness using divergence measures which is based on the Bayesian approach. Jump-detection and curve estimation methods for the discontinuous regression function are proposed in this article. First, two estimators of the regression function based on B-splines are considered. The first estimator is obtained when the knot sequence is quasi-uniform; by adding a knot with multiplicity p + 1 at a fixed point x0 on support [a, b], we can obtain the second estimator. Then, the jump locations are detected by the performance of the difference of the residual sum of squares DRSS(x0) (x0 ∈ (a, b)); subsequently the regression function with jumps can be fitted based on piecewise B-spline function. Asymptotic properties are established under some mild conditions. Several numerical examples using both simulated and real data are presented to evaluate the performance of the proposed method.  相似文献

A Box-Cox transformed linear model usually has the form y(λ) = μ + β1x1 +… + βpxp + oe, where y(λ) is the power transform of y. Although widely used in practice, the Fisher information matrix for the unknown parameters and, in particular, its inverse have not been studied seriously in the literature. We obtain those two important matrices to put the Box-Cox transformed linear model on a firmer ground. The question of how to make inference on β = (β1,…,βp)T when λ; is estimated from the data is then discussed for large but finite sample size by studying some parameter-based asymptotics. Both unconditional and conditional inference are studied from the frequentist point of view.  相似文献
