Locating the optimal operating conditions of the process parameters is critical in a lifetime improvement experiment. For log-normal lifetime distribution with compound error structure (i.e., symmetry, inter-class and intra-class correlation error structures), we have developed methods for construction of D-optimal robust first order designs. It is shown that D-optimal robust first order designs are always robust first order rotatable but the converse is not always true.  相似文献

This paper considers a simple linear regression with two-way error component disturbances and derives the conditional relative efficiency ofany feasible GLS estimator with respect to OLS, true GLS, orany other feasible GLS estimator, conditional on the estimated variance components. This is done at two crucial choices of the x variable. The first choice is where OLS is least efficient with respect to GLS and the second choice is where an arbitrary feasible GLS estimator is least efficient with respect to GLS. Our findings indicate that a better guess of a certain ‘variance components ratio’ leads to better estimates of the regression coefficients.  相似文献

A general methodology is presented for finding suitable Poisson log-linear models with applications to multiway contingency tables. Mixtures of multivariate normal distributions are used to model prior opinion when a subset of the regression vector is believed to be nonzero. This prior distribution is studied for two- and three-way contingency tables, in which the regression coefficients are interpretable in terms of odds ratios in the table. Efficient and accurate schemes are proposed for calculating the posterior model probabilities. The methods are illustrated for a large number of two-way simulated tables and for two three-way tables. These methods appear to be useful in selecting the best log-linear model and in estimating parameters of interest that reflect uncertainty in the true model.  相似文献

In this article a class of distribution-free tests for the hypothesis of no row (treatment) effect in a two-way layout design, with several observations per cell, is proposed. The tests are based on U-statistics, constructed by considering minima of all possible subsamples of same size from each cell.The proposed class of tests is compared with the parametric test, Mack and Skillings test and Yate's test for two-way layout, in terms of Pitman ARE sense. It is seen that for the case of equal number of observations per cell, the proposed tests have better efficiency for exponential and uniform error distributions.  相似文献

Summary.  In the empirical literature on assortative matching using linked employer–employee data, unobserved worker quality appears to be negatively correlated with unobserved firm quality. We show that this can be caused by standard estimation error. We develop formulae that show that the estimated correlation is biased downwards if there is true positive assortative matching and when any conditioning covariates are uncorrelated with the firm and worker fixed effects. We show that this bias is bigger the fewer movers there are in the data, which is 'limited mobility bias'. This result applies to any two-way (or higher) error components model that is estimated by fixed effects methods. We apply these bias corrections to a large German linked employer–employee data set. We find that, although the biases can be considerable, they are not sufficiently large to remove the negative correlation entirely.  相似文献

Experimental designs are widely used in predicting the optimal operating conditions of the process parameters in lifetime improvement experiments. The most commonly observed lifetime distributions are log-normal, exponential, gamma and Weibull. In the present article, invariant robust first-order rotatable designs are derived for autocorrelated lifetime responses having log-normal, exponential, gamma and Weibull distributions. In the process, robust first-order D-optimal and rotatable conditions have been derived under these situations. For these lifetime distributions with correlated errors, it is shown that robust first-order D-optimal designs are always robust rotatable but the converse is not true. Moreover, it is observed that robust first-order D-optimal and rotatable designs depend on the respective error variance–covariance structure but are independent from these considered lifetime response distributions.  相似文献

In this article we consider the two-way ANOVA model without interaction under heteroscedasticity. For the problem of testing equal effects of factors, we propose a parametric bootstrap (PB) approach and compare it with existing the generalized F (GF) test. The Type I error rates and powers of the tests are evaluated using Monte Carlo simulation. Our studies show that the PB test performs better than the GF test. The PB test performs very satisfactorily even for small samples while the GF test exhibits poor Type I error properties when the number of factorial combinations or treatments goes up. It is also noted that the same tests can be used to test the significance of random effect variance component in a two-way mixed-effects model under unequal error variances.  相似文献

Several methods exist for testing interaction in unreplicated two-way layouts. Some are based on specifying a functional form for the interaction term and perform well provided that the functional form is appropriate. Other methods do not require such a functional form to be specified but only test for the presence of non-additivity and do not provide a suitable estimate of error variance for a non-additive model. This paper presents a method for testing for interaction in unreplicated two-way tables that is based on testing all pairwise interaction contrasts. This method (i) is easy to implement, (ii) does not assume a functional form for the interaction term, (iii) can find a sub-table of data which may be free from interaction and to base the estimate of unknown error variance, and (iv) can be used for incomplete two-way layouts. The proposed method is illustrated using examples and its power is investigated via simulation studies. Simulation results show that the proposed method is competitive with existing methods for testing for interaction in unreplicated two-way layouts.  相似文献

In this paper, asymptotic properties of the Kruskal-Wallis test in the one-way analysis of variance model and that of the Friedman test in the two-way classification model are investigated under alternatives when the treatment effects are random. It is shown that the asymptotic distribution of each statistic is the same as a mixture of central chi-squared variables. This paper deals with an asymptotic distribution-free subset selection procedure for a two-way layout problem. The treatment effect with the largest unknown value is of interest to us. The block effect is a nuisance parameter in this problem. The proposed procedure is based on the Hodges-Lehmann estimators of location parameters. The asymptotic relative efficiency of the proposed procedure with the normal means procedure is evaluated. It is shown that the proposed procedure has a high efficiency.  相似文献

We present step-wise test procedures based on the Bonferroni-Holm principle for multi-way ANOVA-type models. It is shown for two plausible modifications that the multiple level α is preserved. These theoretical results are supplemented by a simulation study, in a two-way ANOVA setting, to compare the multiple procedures with respect to their simultaneous power and the relative frequency of correctly rejected false hypotheses. Exact null and alternative distributions of the two-way maximally selected x2 for interaction between the ordered rows and columns are derived for each of the normal and Poisson models, respectively. The method is one of the multiple comparison procedures for ordered parameters and is useful for defining a block interaction or a two-way change-point model as a simple alternative to the two-way additive model. The construction of a confidence region for the two-way change-point is then described. An important application is found in a dose-response clinical trial with ordered categorical responses, where detecting the dose level which gives significantly higher responses than the lower doses can be formulated as a problem of detecting a change in the interaction effects.  相似文献

A mixed model for growth curves is introduced. A method of estimating the variance components is indicated. It is shown that the generalised least squares estimates of the fixed effects using estimates of variance components are unbiased and an expression is obtained for the increase in variance due to the substitution of the variances by their estimates. These results are directly applied to designs with two-way elimination of heterogeneity.  相似文献

In this article, we propose a parametric bootstrap (PB) test for heteroscedastic two-way multivariate analysis of variance without Interaction. For the problem of testing equal main effects of factors, we obtain a PB approach and compare it with existing modified Brown–Forsythe (MBF) test and approximate Hotelling T2 (AHT) test by an extensive simulation study. The PB test is a symmetric function in samples, and does not depend on the chosen weights used to define the parameters uniquely. Simulation results indicate that the PB test performs satisfactorily for various cell sizes and parameter configurations when the homogeneity assumption is seriously violated, and tends to outperform the AHT test for moderate or larger samples in terms of power and controlling size. The MBF test, the AHT test, and the PB test have similar robustness to violations of underlying assumptions. It is also noted that the same PB test can be used to test the significance of random effect vector in a two-way multivariate mixed effects model with unequal cell covariance matrices.  相似文献

In this paper we discuss testing for an interaction in the two-way ANOVA with just one observation per cell. The known results are reviewed and a simulation study is performed to evaluate type I and type II risks of the tests. It is shown that the Tukey and Mandel additivity tests have very low power in case of more general interaction scheme. A modification of Tukey's test is developed to resolve this issue. All tests mentioned in the paper have been implemented in R package Additivity Tests.  相似文献

Group testing designs (GTDs), both adaptive and nonadaptive, are useful in reducing the number of tests needed to identify the defective items from a given set of at least six items. In this paper, we obtain improved bounds on the number of group tests necessary for both adaptive and nonadaptive GTDs. It is established that any nonadaptive GTD needs at least 2n group tests for identifying all the defective items from a group of 2n items having at most 2 defective items. In the same context, an adaptive multistage GTD with a maximum of 2n group tests is presented here. It is further shown that under restrictions on group size, optimal nonadaptive GTDs can be constructed using Generalized Petersen Graphs. Also presented is the construction of a family of two-stage adaptive GTDs that are useful under certain conditions.  相似文献

Many nonparametric tests have been proposed for the hypothesis of no row (treatment) effect in a one-way layout design. Examples of such tests are Kruskal-Wallis H-test, Bhapkar's (1961) V-test and Deshpande's (1965) L-test. However not many tests are available for testing the same hypothesis in a two-way layout design without interaction. Perhaps the only “established” test is the one due to Friedman (1937). However, it applies to the case of one observation per cell only. In this paper, a new distribution-free test is proposed for the hypothesis of row effect in a two-way layout design. It applies to the case of several observations per cell, not necessarily equal. The asymptotic efficiency of the proposed test relative to other tests is studied.  相似文献

It is argued that the probability of committing at least one type I error should be reported when testing the main effects simultaneously in a two-way disproportionate ANOVA without interaction. The circumstances where the two F-statistics depart appreciably from statistical independence are characterized, and it is pointed out that procedures now exist for evaluating the bivariate F-probabilities when required. The augmented analysis is illustrated with a numerical example and an extension is offered for assymmetric BIBD's with random block effects.  相似文献
