In this paper, a new extension for the generalized Rayleigh distribution is introduced. The proposed model, called Marshall–Olkin extended generalized Rayleigh distribution, arises based on the scheme introduced by Marshall and Olkin (1997) Marshall, A.W., Olkin, I. (1997). A new method for adding a parameter to a family of distributions with application to the exponential and Weibull families. Biometrika 84:641652.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]. A comprehensive account of the mathematical properties of the new distribution is provided. We discuss about the estimation of the model parameters based on two estimation methods. Empirical applications of the new model to real data are presented for illustrative purposes.  相似文献

In this article, we define and study a new three-parameter model called the Marshall–Olkin extended generalized Lindley distribution. We derive various structural properties of the proposed model including expansions for the density function, ordinary moments, moment generating function, quantile function, mean deviations, Bonferroni and Lorenz curves, order statistics and their moments, Rényi entropy and reliability. We estimate the model parameters using the maximum likelihood technique of estimation. We assess the performance of the maximum likelihood estimators in a simulation study. Finally, by means of two real datasets, we illustrate the usefulness of the new model.  相似文献

A new four-parameter distribution called the exponentiated power Lindley–Poisson distribution which is an extension of the power Lindley and Lindley–Poisson distributions is introduced. Statistical properties of the distribution including the shapes of the density and hazard functions, moments, entropy measures, and distribution of order statistics are given. Maximum likelihood estimation technique is used to estimate the parameters. A simulation study is conducted to examine the bias, mean square error of the maximum likelihood estimators, and width of the confidence interval for each parameter. Finally, applications to real data sets are presented to illustrate the usefulness of the proposed distribution.  相似文献

Abstract

A Marshall–Olkin variant of the Provost type gamma–Weibull probability distribution is being introduced in this paper. Some of its statistical functions and numerical characteristics among others characteristics function, moment generalizing function, central moments of real order are derived in the computational series expansion form and various illustrative special cases are discussed. This density function is utilized to model two real data sets. The new distribution provides a better fit than related distributions as measured by the Anderson–Darling and Cramér–von Mises statistics. The proposed distribution could find applications for instance in the physical and biological sciences, hydrology, medicine, meteorology, engineering, etc.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new three-parameter model called the exponential–Weibull distribution, which includes as special models some widely known lifetime distributions. Some mathematical properties of the proposed distribution are investigated. We derive four explicit expressions for the generalized ordinary moments and a general formula for the incomplete moments based on infinite sums of Meijer's G functions. We also obtain explicit expressions for the generating function and mean deviations. We estimate the model parameters by maximum likelihood and determine the observed information matrix. Some simulations are run to assess the performance of the maximum likelihood estimators. The flexibility of the new distribution is illustrated by means of an application to real data.  相似文献

This paper introduces a new class of skew distributions by extending the alpha skew normal distribution proposed by Elal-Olivero [Elal-Olivero, D. Alpha-skew-normal distribution. Proyecciones. 2010;29:224–240]. Statistical properties of the new family are studied in details. In particular, explicit expressions for the moments and the shape parameters including the skewness and the kurtosis coefficients and the moment generating function are derived. The problem of estimating parameters on the basis of a random sample coming from the new class of distribution is considered. To examine the performance of the obtained estimators, a Monte Carlo simulation study is conducted. Flexibility and usefulness of the proposed family of distributions are illustrated by analysing three real data sets.  相似文献

The inverted (or inverse) distributions are sometimes very useful to explore additional properties of the phenomenons which non-inverted distributions cannot. We introduce a new inverted model called the inverted Nadarajah–Haghighi distribution which exhibits decreasing and unimodal (right-skewed) density while the hazard rate shapes are decreasing and upside-down bathtub. Our main focus is the estimation (from both frequentist and Bayesian points of view) of the unknown parameters along with some mathematical properties of the new model. The Bayes estimators and the associated credible intervals are obtained using Markov Chain Monte Carlo techniques under squared error loss function. The gamma priors are adopted for both scale and shape parameters. The potentiality of the distribution is analysed by means of two real data sets. In fact, it is found to be superior in its ability to sufficiently model the data as compared to the inverted Weibull, inverted Rayleigh, inverted exponential, inverted gamma, inverted Lindley and inverted power Lindley models.  相似文献

A new class of distributions called the log-logistic Weibull–Poisson distribution is introduced and its properties are explored. This new distribution represents a more flexible model for lifetime data. Some statistical properties of the proposed distribution including the expansion of the density function, quantile function, hazard and reverse hazard functions, moments, conditional moments, moment generating function, skewness and kurtosis are presented. Mean deviations, Bonferroni and Lorenz curves, Rényi entropy and distribution of the order statistics are derived. Maximum likelihood estimation technique is used to estimate the model parameters. A simulation study is conducted to examine the bias, mean square error of the maximum likelihood estimators and width of the confidence interval for each parameter and finally applications of the model to real data sets are presented to illustrate the usefulness of the proposed distribution.  相似文献

Many distributions have been used as lifetime models. In this article, we propose a new three-parameter Weibull–Pareto distribution, which can produce the most important hazard rate shapes, namely, constant, increasing, decreasing, bathtub, and upsidedown bathtub. Various structural properties of the new distribution are derived including explicit expressions for the moments and incomplete moments, Bonferroni and Lorenz curves, mean deviations, mean residual life, mean waiting time, and generating and quantile functions. The Rényi and q entropies are also derived. We obtain the density function of the order statistics and their moments. The model parameters are estimated by maximum likelihood and the observed information matrix is determined. The usefulness of the new model is illustrated by means of two real datasets on Wheaton river flood and bladder cancer. In the two applications, the new model provides better fits than the Kumaraswamy–Pareto, beta-exponentiated Pareto, beta-Pareto, exponentiated Pareto, and Pareto models.  相似文献

In this paper, a new compounding distribution, named the Weibull–Poisson distribution is introduced. The shape of failure rate function of the new compounding distribution is flexible, it can be decreasing, increasing, upside-down bathtub-shaped or unimodal. A comprehensive mathematical treatment of the proposed distribution and expressions of its density, cumulative distribution function, survival function, failure rate function, the kth raw moment and quantiles are provided. Maximum likelihood method using EM algorithm is developed for parameter estimation. Asymptotic properties of the maximum likelihood estimates are discussed, and intensive simulation studies are conducted for evaluating the performance of parameter estimation. The use of the proposed distribution is illustrated with examples.  相似文献

In this paper, the Rayleigh–Lindley (RL) distribution is introduced, obtained by compounding the Rayleigh and Lindley discrete distributions, where the compounding procedure follows an approach similar to the one previously studied by Adamidis and Loukas in some other contexts. The resulting distribution is a two-parameter model, which is competitive with other parsimonious models such as the gamma and Weibull distributions. We study some properties of this new model such as the moments and the mean residual life. The estimation was approached via EM algorithm. The behavior of these estimators was studied in finite samples through a simulation study. Finally, we report two real data illustrations in order to show the performance of the proposed model versus other common two-parameter models in the literature. The main conclusion is that the model proposed can be a valid alternative to other competing models well established in the literature.  相似文献

We introduce a new family of distributions based on a one-parameter distribution exhibiting bathtub-shaped hazard rates. We study the mathematical properties of the family and estimate its parameters by the method of maximum likelihood. Finally, the usefulness of the family is illustrated using a real dataset.  相似文献

Abstract

Birnbaum and Saunders (1969a Birnbaum, Z.W., Saunders, S.C. (1969a). A new family of life distributions. J. Appl. Probab. 6:319327.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) pioneered a lifetime model which is commonly used in reliability studies. Based on this distribution, a new model called the gamma Birnbaum–Saunders distribution is proposed for describing fatigue life data. Several properties of the new distribution including explicit expressions for the ordinary and incomplete moments, generating and quantile functions, mean deviations, density function of the order statistics, and their moments are derived. We discuss the method of maximum likelihood and a Bayesian approach to estimate the model parameters. The superiority of the new model is illustrated by means of three failure real data sets. We also propose a new extended regression model based on the logarithm of the new distribution. The last model can be very useful to the analysis of real data and provide more realistic fits than other special regression models.  相似文献

A new lifetime distribution is introduced based on compounding Pareto and Poisson–Lindley distributions. Several statistical properties of the distribution are established, including behavior of the probability density function and the failure rate function, heavy- and long-right tailedness, moments, the Laplace transform, quantiles, order statistics, moments of residual lifetime, conditional moments, conditional moment generating function, stress–strength parameter, Rényi entropy and Song's measure. We get maximum-likelihood estimators of the distribution parameters and investigate the asymptotic distribution of the estimators via Fisher's information matrix. Applications of the distribution using three real data sets are presented and it is shown that the distribution fits better than other related distributions in practical uses.  相似文献

We study some mathematical properties of the Marshall–Olkin extended Weibull distribution introduced by Marshall and Olkin (Biometrika 84:641–652, 1997). We provide explicit expressions for the moments, generating and quantile functions, mean deviations, Bonferroni and Lorenz curves, reliability and Rényi entropy. We determine the moments of the order statistics. We also discuss the estimation of the model parameters by maximum likelihood and obtain the observed information matrix. We provide an application to real data which illustrates the usefulness of the model.  相似文献

This article proposes a generalized binomial distribution, which is derived from the finite capacity queueing system with state-dependent service and arrival rates. This distribution is also generated from the conditional Conway–Maxwell–Poisson (CMP) distribution given a sum of two CMP variables. In this article, we consider the properties of the probability mass function, indices of dispersion, skewness and kurtosis, and give applications of the proposed distribution. The estimation method and simulation study are also considered.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a multiple deferred state repetitive group sampling plan which is a new sampling plan developed by incorporating the features of both multiple deferred state sampling plan and repetitive group sampling plan, for assuring Weibull or gamma distributed mean life of the products. The quality of the product is represented by the ratio of true mean life and specified mean life of the products. Two points on the operating characteristic curve approach is used to determine the optimal parameters of the proposed plan. The plan parameters are determined by formulating an optimization problem for various combinations of producer's risk and consumer's risk for both distributions. The sensitivity analysis of the proposed plan is discussed. The implementation of the proposed plan is explained using real-life data and simulated data. The proposed plan under Weibull distribution is compared with the existing sampling plans. The average sample number (ASN) of the proposed plan and failure probability of the product are obtained under Weibull, gamma and Birnbaum–Saunders distributions for a specified value of shape parameter and compared with each other. In addition, a comparative study is made between the ASN of the proposed plan under Weibull and gamma distributions.  相似文献

In this article, a new generalization of the Kumaraswamy distribution, namely the Gamma–Kumaraswamy distribution, is defined and studied. Various properties of the Gamma–Kumaraswamy are obtained. The structural analysis of the distribution in this article includes limiting behavior, mode, quantiles, moments, skewness, kurtosis, Shannon’s entropy, and order statistics. The method of maximum likelihood estimation is proposed for estimating the model parameters. For illustrative purposes, two real datasets are analyzed as application of the Gamma–Kumaraswamy distribution.  相似文献
