In this paper, we consider a model checking problem for general linear models with randomly missing covariates. Two types of score type tests with inverse probability weight, which is estimated by parameter and nonparameter methods respectively, are proposed to this goodness of fit problem. The asymptotic properties of the test statistics are developed under the null and local alternative hypothesis. Simulation study is carried out to present the performance of the sizes and powers of the tests. We illustrate the proposed method with a data set on monozygotic twins.  相似文献

A goodness of fit test of the Cramer - von Mises type, which gives more weight to the upper (or to the lower) tail of the distribution, is proposed and studied. It is found the orthogonal representation of the test for the case of a simple null hypothesis. The characteristic function of the asymptotic null distribution is found and inverted to get percentage points. The asymptotic power of the test is obtained for the normal null hypothesis, against mean and variance shifts and more asymmetric alternatives.

Also the case of the exponential null hypothesis is studied. It is found that the test, which emphasizes the upper tail, has more power than those of Anderson - Darling and Cramer - von Mises, against alternatives which differ from the null hypothesis mainly in the upper tail, and less power when the main difference is in the lower tail of the distribution.  相似文献

The Pareto distribution is found in a large number of real world situations and is also a well-known model for extreme events. In the spirit of Neyman [1937. Smooth tests for goodness of fit. Skand. Aktuarietidskr. 20, 149–199] and Thomas and Pierce [1979. Neyman's smooth goodness-of-fit test when the hypothesis is composite. J. Amer. Statist. Assoc. 74, 441–445], we propose a smooth goodness of fit test for the Pareto distribution family which is motivated by LeCam's theory of local asymptotic normality (LAN). We establish the behavior of the associated test statistic firstly under the null hypothesis that the sample follows a Pareto distribution and secondly under local alternatives using the LAN framework. Finally, simulations are provided in order to study the finite sample behavior of the test statistic.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a graphical representation of data and a test statistic based on it for testing the goodness of fit of a completely specified null distribution. The graph is constructed as a linked line chart given by vectors which reflect the pattern of order statistics. The test statistic is defined as an area defined by our chart and its asymptotic distribution is derived under the null hypothesis. Computer simulations performed to study the power properties of our chart indicate that the test is powerful for scale alternatives. Furthermore, it is shown that our test is closely related to the Watson test.  相似文献

We study two new omnibus goodness of fit tests for exponentiality, each based on a characterization of the exponential distribution via the mean residual life function. The limiting null distributions of the tests statistics are the same as the limiting null distributions of the Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Cramér-von Mises statistics proposed when testing the simple hypothesis that the distribution of the sample variables is uniform on the interval [0, 1]. Eight goodness of fit tests are compared with respect to their simulated small sample power of detecting an inbreeding alternative to the Hardy-Weinberg null hypothesis. The Pearson's x 2 test is found to be most powerful, and the small rample levels of this test are close to the nominal (x 2) significance levels. The use of conditional expectations, rather than expected frequencies based on ML estimates, increases the power and improves thc x 2 fit to the true significance level. The small sample powers are also compared to the asymptotic (Pitman) pourer, based on the noncenlral x 2 distribution.  相似文献

The smooth goodness of fit tests are generalized to singly censored data and applied to the problem of testing Weibull (or extreme value) fit. Smooth tests, Pearson-type tests, and the spacings tests proposed by Mann, Schemer, and Fertig (1973) are compared on the basis of local asymptotic relative efficiency with respect to the asymptotic best test against generalized gamma alternatives, The smooth test of order one Is found to be most efficient for the generalized gamma alternatives.  相似文献

The paper proposes Wald statistic for testing homogeneity of parameters of k populations and gives the asymptotic expansion of the distribution function under a null hypothesis and of power function of it under contiguous alternatives. It shows that Wald statistic is the same as Nagao's statistic (1973) for testing homogeneity of covariance matrices of multivariate normal populations.  相似文献

In this paper we propose an application of N-distance theory [Klebanov, L.B., 2005. N-distances and their applications. Karolinum, Prague] for testing simple hypotheses of goodness of fit and homogeneity. The asymptotic null distribution of test statistics is established and coincides with the distribution of infinite quadratic form of independent standard normal random variables. A construction of multivariate free-of-distribution homogeneity test is considered. The power of proposed criteria is compared with classical tests using Monte-Carlo simulations.  相似文献

A sequentialized version of the x2; goodness of fit test, called repeated x,2; test, is introduced. The form of the asymptotic distribution of the repeated x2 test statistic is given under the null hypothesis as well as under local alternatives. For various numbers of cells Monte Carlo results are given for critical values, power and distribution of stopping time. Finally, the perfor-mance of the repeated and the fixed sample x2 test are compared.  相似文献

The objective of this article is to propose and study frequentist tests that have maximum average power, averaging with respect to some specified weight function. First, some relationships between these tests, called maximum average-power (MAP) tests, and most powerful or uniformly most powerful tests are presented. Second, the existence of a maximum average-power test for any hypothesis testing problem is shown. Third, an MAP test for any hypothesis testing problem with a simple null hypothesis is constructed, including some interesting classical examples. Fourth, an MAP test for a hypothesis testing problem with a composite null hypothesis is discussed. From any one-parameter exponential family, a commonly used UMPU test is shown to be also an MAP test with respect to a rich class of weight functions. Finally, some remarks are given to conclude the article.  相似文献

The use of asymptotic moments to increase the precision of the control variate technique for Monte Carlo estimation is discussed. An application is made to the estimation of the mean and variance of the likelihood ratio goodness–of–fit statistic with the Pearson statistic used as a control variate. Estimates of the variance reductions are given.  相似文献

The paper considers the goodness of fit tests with right censored data or doubly censored data. The Fredholm Integral Equation (FIE) method proposed by Ren (1993) is implemented in the simulation studies to estimate the null distribution of the Cramér-von Mises test statistics and the asymptotic covariance function of the self-consistent estimator for the lifetime distribution with right censored data or doubly censored data. We show that for fixed alternatives, the bootstrap method does not estimate the null distribution consistently for doubly censored data. For the right censored case, a comparison between the performance of FIE and the η out of η bootstrap shows that FIE gives better estimation for the null distribution. The application of FIE to a set of right censored Channing House data and to a set of doubly censored breast cancer data is presented.  相似文献

Mixture distributions have become a very flexible and common class of distributions, used in many different applications, but hardly any literature can be found on tests for assessing their goodness of fit. We propose two types of smooth tests of goodness of fit for mixture distributions. The first test is a genuine smooth test, and the second test makes explicit use of the mixture structure. In a simulation study the tests are compared to some traditional goodness of fit tests that, however, are not customised for mixture distributions. The first smooth test has overall good power and generally outperforms the other tests. The second smooth test is particularly suitable for assessing the fit of each component distribution separately. The tests are applicable to both continuous and discrete distributions and they are illustrated on three medical data sets.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate several tests for the hypothesis of a parametric form of the error distribution in the common linear and non‐parametric regression model, which are based on empirical processes of residuals. It is well known that tests in this context are not asymptotically distribution‐free and the parametric bootstrap is applied to deal with this problem. The performance of the resulting bootstrap test is investigated from an asymptotic point of view and by means of a simulation study. The results demonstrate that even for moderate sample sizes the parametric bootstrap provides a reliable and easy accessible solution to the problem of goodness‐of‐fit testing of assumptions regarding the error distribution in linear and non‐parametric regression models.  相似文献

The inverse Gaussian (IG) distribution is widely used to model data and then it is important to develop efficient goodness of fit tests for this distribution. In this article, we introduce some new test statistics for examining the IG goodness of fit based on correcting moments of nonparametric probability density functions of entropy estimators. These tests are consistent against all alternatives. Critical points and power of the tests are explored by simulation. We show that the proposed tests are more powerful than competitor tests. Finally, the proposed tests are illustrated by real data examples.  相似文献

With data collection in environmental science and bioassay, left censoring because of nondetects is a problem. Similarly in reliability and life data analysis right censoring frequently occurs. There is a need for goodness of fit tests that can adapt to left or right censored data and be used to check important distributional assumptions without becoming too difficult to regularly implement in practice. A new test statistic is derived from a plot of the standardized spacings between the order statistics versus their ranks. Any linear or curvilinear pattern is evidence against the null distribution. When testing the Weibull or extreme value null hypothesis this statistic has a null distribution that is approximately F for most combinations of sample size and censoring of practical interest. Our statistic is compared to the Mann-Scheuer-Fertig statistic which also uses the standardized spacings between the order statistics. The results of a simulation study show the two tests are competitive in terms of power. Although the Mann-Scheuer-Fertig statistic is somewhat easier to compute, our test enjoys advantages in the accuracy of the F approximation and the availability of a graphical diagnostic.  相似文献

Testing goodness‐of‐fit of commonly used genetic models is of critical importance in many applications including association studies and testing for departure from Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium. Case–control design has become widely used in population genetics and genetic epidemiology, thus it is of interest to develop powerful goodness‐of‐fit tests for genetic models using case–control data. This paper develops a likelihood ratio test (LRT) for testing recessive and dominant models for case–control studies. The LRT statistic has a closed‐form formula with a simple $\chi^{2}(1)$ null asymptotic distribution, thus its implementation is easy even for genome‐wide association studies. Moreover, it has the same power and optimality as when the disease prevalence is known in the population. In this paper we focus on the well-known test of goodness of fit for comparing observed counts to expected values under some null hypothesis. When the latter is rejected, we propose a simple method for detecting which subset(s) of category counts provoke(s) that rejection. The approach aims at building intervals iteratively and drawing appropriate conclusions on that basis. We discuss this method with respect to other classical approaches. We illustrate our purpose by treating some examples.  相似文献

The exponential family structure of the joint distribution of generalized order statistics is utilized to establish multivariate tests on the model parameters. For simple and composite null hypotheses, the likelihood ratio test (LR test), Wald's test, and Rao's score test are derived and turn out to have simple representations. The asymptotic distribution of the corresponding test statistics under the null hypothesis is stated, and, in case of a simple null hypothesis, asymptotic optimality of the LR test is addressed. Applications of the tests are presented; in particular, we discuss their use in reliability, and to decide whether a Poisson process is homogeneous. Finally, a power study is performed to measure and compare the quality of the tests for both, simple and composite null hypotheses.  相似文献
