We study minimum contrast estimation for parametric stationary determinantal point processes. These processes form a useful class of models for repulsive (or regular, or inhibitive) point patterns and are already applied in numerous statistical applications. Our main focus is on minimum contrast methods based on the Ripley's K‐function or on the pair correlation function. Strong consistency and asymptotic normality of theses procedures are proved under general conditions that only concern the existence of the process and its regularity with respect to the parameters. A key ingredient of the proofs is the recently established Brillinger mixing property of stationary determinantal point processes. This work may be viewed as a complement to the study of Y. Guan and M. Sherman who establish the same kind of asymptotic properties for a large class of Cox processes, which in turn are models for clustering (or aggregation).  相似文献

Reversed hazard rates are found to be very useful in survival and reliability studies especially in cases of parallel systems and left-censored data. We introduce four association measures using reversed hazard rates and mean waiting time. We then study the properties of these measures. Nonparametric estimators of these measures are developed. Finally, the application of these measures is illustrated with two real life data sets.  相似文献

Multivariate copula models are commonly used in place of Gaussian dependence models when plots of the data suggest tail dependence and tail asymmetry. In these cases, it is useful to have simple statistics to summarize the strength of dependence in different joint tails. Measures of monotone association such as Kendall's tau and Spearman's rho are insufficient to distinguish commonly used parametric bivariate families with different tail properties. We propose lower and upper tail-weighted bivariate measures of dependence as additional scalar measures to distinguish bivariate copulas with roughly the same overall monotone dependence. These measures allow the efficient estimation of strength of dependence in the joint tails and can be used as a guide for selection of bivariate linking copulas in vine and factor models as well as for assessing the adequacy of fit of multivariate copula models. We apply the tail-weighted measures of dependence to a financial data set and show that the measures better discriminate models with different tail properties compared to commonly used risk measures – the portfolio value-at-risk and conditional tail expectation.  相似文献

We propose some statistical tools for diagnosing the class of generalized Weibull linear regression models [A.A. Prudente and G.M. Cordeiro, Generalized Weibull linear models, Comm. Statist. Theory Methods 39 (2010), pp. 3739–3755]. This class of models is an alternative means of analysing positive, continuous and skewed data and, due to its statistical properties, is very competitive with gamma regression models. First, we show that the Weibull model induces ma-ximum likelihood estimators asymptotically more efficient than the gamma model. Standardized residuals are defined, and their statistical properties are examined empirically. Some measures are derived based on the case-deletion model, including the generalized Cook's distance and measures for identifying influential observations on partial F-tests. The results of a simulation study conducted to assess behaviour of the global influence approach are also presented. Further, we perform a local influence analysis under the case-weights, response and explanatory variables perturbation schemes. The Weibull, gamma and other Weibull-type regression models are fitted into three data sets to illustrate the proposed diagnostic tools. Statistical analyses indicate that the Weibull model fitted into these data yields better fits than other common alternative models.  相似文献

We present some lower bounds for the probability of zero for the class of count distributions having a log‐convex probability generating function, which includes compound and mixed‐Poisson distributions. These lower bounds allow the construction of new non‐parametric estimators of the number of unobserved zeros, which are useful for capture‐recapture models, or in areas like epidemiology and literary style analysis. Some of these bounds also lead to the well‐known Chao's and Turing's estimators. Several examples of application are analysed and discussed.  相似文献

Characterization of lifetime distributions using measure of uncertainty . Calcutta Statist. Assoc. Bull. 49 : 195196 . [Google Scholar]), respectively, for the doubly (interval) truncated random variables. In survival analysis and reliability engineering, these measures play a significant role in studying the various characteristics of a system/component when it fails between two time points. In many cases of modeling bivariate count data, the interest lies on studying the association rather than the marginal properties. We form a flexible regression copula-based model where covariates are used not only for the marginal but also for the copula parameters. Since copula measures the association, the use of covariates in its parameters allow for direct modeling of association. A real-data application related to transaction market basket data is used. Our goal is to refine and understand whether the association between the number of purchases of certain product categories depends on particular demographic customers’ characteristics. Such information is important for decision making for marketing purposes.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with testing and dating structural breaks in the dependence structure of multivariate time series. We consider a cumulative sum (CUSUM) type test for constant copula-based dependence measures, such as Spearman''s rank correlation and quantile dependencies. The asymptotic null distribution is not known in closed form and critical values are estimated by an i.i.d. bootstrap procedure. We analyze size and power properties in a simulation study under different dependence measure settings, such as skewed and fat-tailed distributions. To date breakpoints and to decide whether two estimated break locations belong to the same break event, we propose a pivot confidence interval procedure. Finally, we apply the test to the historical data of 10 large financial firms during the last financial crisis from 2002 to mid-2013.  相似文献

The most popular method for trying to detect an association between two random variables is to test H 0 ?:?ρ=0, the hypothesis that Pearson's correlation is equal to zero. It is well known, however, that Pearson's correlation is not robust, roughly meaning that small changes in any distribution, including any bivariate normal distribution as a special case, can alter its value. Moreover, the usual estimate of ρ, r, is sensitive to only a few outliers which can mask a true association. A simple alternative to testing H 0 ?:?ρ =0 is to switch to a measure of association that guards against outliers among the marginal distributions such as Kendall's tau, Spearman's rho, a Winsorized correlation, or a so-called percentage bend correlation. But it is known that these methods fail to take into account the overall structure of the data. Many measures of association that do take into account the overall structure of the data have been proposed, but it seems that nothing is known about how they might be used to detect dependence. One such measure of association is selected, which is designed so that under bivariate normality, its estimator gives a reasonably accurate estimate of ρ. Then methods for testing the hypothesis of a zero correlation are studied.  相似文献

This paper deals with a general class of transformation models that contains many important semiparametric regression models as special cases. It develops a self-induced smoothing for the maximum rank correlation estimator, resulting in simultaneous point and variance estimation. The self-induced smoothing does not require bandwidth selection, yet provides the right amount of smoothness so that the estimator is asymptotically normal with mean zero (unbiased) and variance–covariance matrix consistently estimated by the usual sandwich-type estimator. An iterative algorithm is given for the variance estimation and shown to numerically converge to a consistent limiting variance estimator. The approach is applied to a data set involving survival times of primary biliary cirrhosis patients. Simulation results are reported, showing that the new method performs well under a variety of scenarios.  相似文献

As the number of random variables for the categorical data increases, the possible number of log-linear models which can be fitted to the data increases rapidly, so that various model selection methods are developed. However, we often found that some models chosen by different selection criteria do not coincide. In this paper, we propose a comparison method to test the final models which are non-nested. The statistic of Cox (1961, 1962) is applied to log-linear models for testing non-nested models, and the Kullback-Leibler measure of closeness (Pesaran 1987) is explored. In log-linear models, pseudo estimators for the expectation and the variance of Cox's statistic are not only derived but also shown to be consistent estimators.  相似文献

We consider optimal designs for a class of symmetric models for binary data which includes the common probit and logit models. We show that for a large group of optimality criteria which includes the main ones in the literature (e.g. A-, D-, E-, F- and G-optimality) the optimal design for our class of models is a two-point design with support points symmetrically placed about the ED50 but with possibly unequal weighting. We demonstrate how one can further reduce the problem to a one-variable optimization by characterizing various of the common criteria. We also use the results to demonstrate major qualitative differences between the F - and c-optimal designs, two design criteria which have similar motivation.  相似文献

A generalization of Kendall's tau is formulated for describing the association between a dependent variable and a collection of independent variables. The coefficient may be defined in terms of the proportional reduction in prediction errors obtained by predicting the ordering of pairs of observations on the dependent variable based on orderings of the pairs on the independent variables. The coefficient is formulated both for continuous and discrete variables. Approximate large-sample distributions are considered for both cases. Some of the properties of this coefficient are discussed and compared with those of other multiple measures of association based on ranks.  相似文献

Model selection problems arise while constructing unbiased or asymptotically unbiased estimators of measures known as discrepancies to find the best model. Most of the usual criteria are based on goodness-of-fit and parsimony. They aim to maximize a transformed version of likelihood. For linear regression models with normally distributed error, the situation is less clear when two models are equivalent: are they close to or far from the unknown true model? In this work, based on stochastic simulation and parametric simulation, we study the results of Vuong's test, Cox's test, Akaike's information criterion, Bayesian information criterion, Kullback information criterion and bias corrected Kullback information criterion and the ability of these tests to discriminate between non-nested linear models.  相似文献

Ranked set sampling is a sampling approach that leads to improved statistical inference in situations where the units to be sampled can be ranked relative to each other prior to formal measurement. This ranking may be done either by subjective judgment or according to an auxiliary variable, and it need not be completely accurate. In fact, results in the literature have shown that no matter how poor the quality of the ranking, procedures based on ranked set sampling tend to be at least as efficient as procedures based on simple random sampling. However, efforts to quantify the gains in efficiency for ranked set sampling procedures have been hampered by a shortage of available models for imperfect rankings. In this paper, we introduce a new class of models for imperfect rankings, and we provide a rigorous proof that essentially any reasonable model for imperfect rankings is a limit of models in this class. We then describe a specific, easily applied method for selecting an appropriate imperfect rankings model from the class.  相似文献
