Hypercubic design was introduced by Shah (1958) and Kusumoto(1965) in which the t=vm treatments are represented by n-plets (x1, x2, ..., xm),where 1≤ x1, x2, ..., xm ≤v, and two treatments are said to be i-th associates if they differ in exactly i components. This paper deals with the construction of some hypercubic designs and gives their application to confounding plans for symmetrical factorial experiments. The proposed methods prove to be quite flexible in terms of choice of possible block sizes and are easy to use.  相似文献

The paper discusses D-optimal axial designs for the additive quadratic and cubic mixture models σ1≤i≤qixi + βiix2i) and σ1≤i≤qixi + βiix2i + βiiix3i), where xi≥ 0, x1 + . . . + xq = 1. For the quadratic model, a saturated symmetric axial design is used, in which support points are of the form (x1, . . . , xq) = [1 ? (q?1)δi, δi, . . . , δi], where i = 1, 2 and 0 ≤δ2 <δ1 ≤ 1/(q ?1). It is proved that when 3 ≤q≤ 6, the above design is D-optimal if δ2 = 0 and δ1 = 1/(q?1), and when q≥ 7 it is D-optimal if δ2 = 0 and δ1 = [5q?1 ? (9q2?10q + 1)1/2]/(4q2). Similar results exist for the cubic model, with support points of the form (x1, . . . , xq) = [1 ? (q?1)δi, δi, . . . , δi], where i = 1, 2, 3 and 0 = δ3 <δ2 < δ1 ≤1/(q?1). The saturated D-optimal axial design and D-optimal design for the quadratic model are compared in terms of their efficiency and uniformity.  相似文献

Let Xi, 1 ≤ in, be independent identically distributed random variables with a common distribution function F, and let G be a smooth distribution function. We derive the limit distribution of α(Fn, G) - α(F, G)}, where Fn is the empirical distribution function based on X1,…,Xn and α is a Kolmogorov-Lévy-type metric between distribution functions. For α ≤ 0 and two distribution functions F and G the metric pα is given by pα(F, G) = inf {? ≤ 0: G(x - α?) - ? F(x)G(x + α?) + ? for all x ?}.  相似文献

Consider the regression model Yi= g(xi) + ei, i = 1,…, n, where g is an unknown function defined on [0, 1], 0 = x0 < x1 < … < xn≤ 1 are chosen so that max1≤i≤n(xi-xi- 1) = 0(n-1), and where {ei} are i.i.d. with Ee1= 0 and Var e1 - s?2. In a previous paper, Cheng & Lin (1979) study three estimators of g, namely, g1n of Cheng & Lin (1979), g2n of Clark (1977), and g3n of Priestley & Chao (1972). Consistency results are established and rates of strong uniform convergence are obtained. In the current investigation the limiting distribution of &in, i = 1, 2, 3, and that of the isotonic estimator g**n are considered.  相似文献

Suppose that the length of time in years for which a business operates until failure has a Pareto distribution. Let t 1?t 2?t r denote the survival lifetimes of the first r of a random sample of n businesses. Bayesian predictions are to be made on the ordered failure times of the remaining (n???r) businesses, using the conditional probability function. Numerical examples are given to illustrate our results.  相似文献

Let X1, X2,… be a sequence of independent random variables with distribution functions F1, where 1 ≤ in, and for each n ≥ 1 let X1,n ≤… ≤ Xn,n denote the order statistics of the first n random variables. Under suitable hypotheses about the F1, we characterize the limit distribution functions H(x) for which P(Xk,n ? anx + bn) → H(x), where an > 0 and bn are real constants. We consider the cases where κ = κ(n) satisfies √n {κ(n)/n — λ} → 0 and √n {κ(n)/n — λ} → ∞ separately.  相似文献

This paper concerns maximum likelihood estimation for the semiparametric shared gamma frailty model; that is the Cox proportional hazards model with the hazard function multiplied by a gamma random variable with mean 1 and variance θ. A hybrid ML-EM algorithm is applied to 26 400 simulated samples of 400 to 8000 observations with Weibull hazards. The hybrid algorithm is much faster than the standard EM algorithm, faster than standard direct maximum likelihood (ML, Newton Raphson) for large samples, and gives almost identical results to the penalised likelihood method in S-PLUS 2000. When the true value θ0 of θ is zero, the estimates of θ are asymptotically distributed as a 50–50 mixture between a point mass at zero and a normal random variable on the positive axis. When θ0 > 0, the asymptotic distribution is normal. However, for small samples, simulations suggest that the estimates of θ are approximately distributed as an x ? (100 ? x)% mixture, 0 ≤ x ≤ 50, between a point mass at zero and a normal random variable on the positive axis even for θ0 > 0. In light of this, p-values and confidence intervals need to be adjusted accordingly. We indicate an approximate method for carrying out the adjustment.  相似文献

Suppose that Xi are independent random variables, and that Xi has cdf Fi (x), 1 ≤ ik. Many statistical problems involve the probability Pr{X 1 < X 2 < ··· < Xk }. In this note a numerical method is proposed for computing this probability.  相似文献

Expectile regression, as a general M smoother, is used to capture the tail behaviour of a distribution. Let (X 1,Y 1),…,(X n ,Y n ) be i.i.d. rvs. Denote by v(x) the unknown τ-expectile regression curve of Y conditional on X, and by v n (x) its kernel smoothing estimator. In this paper, we prove the strong uniform consistency rate of v n (x) under general conditions. Moreover, using strong approximations of the empirical process and extreme value theory, we consider the asymptotic maximal deviation sup0≤x≤1|v n (x)?v(x)|. According to the asymptotic theory, we construct simultaneous confidence bands around the estimated expectile function. Furthermore, we apply this confidence band to temperature analysis. Taking Berlin and Taipei as an example, we investigate the temperature risk drivers to these two cities.  相似文献

For a shot-noise process X(t) with Poisson arrival times and exponentially diminishing shocks of i.i.d. sizes, we consider the first time T b at which a given level b > 0 is exceeded. An integral equation for the joint density of T b and X(T b ) is derived and, for the case of exponential jumps, solved explicitly in terms of Laplace transforms (LTs). In the general case we determine the ordinary LT of the function ? P(T b > t) in terms of certain LTs derived from the distribution function H(x; t) = P(X(t) ≤ x), considered as a function of both variables x and t. Moreover, for G(t, u) = P(T b > t, X(t) < u), that is the joint distribution function of sup0 ≤ st X(s) and X(t), an integro-differential equation is presented, whose unique solution is G(t, u).  相似文献

A class of tests is proposed for testing H0 F?(x) = e?λx, λ > 0, x≥0 vs. H1 F?(x + y) ≤ F?(x)F?(y), x, y≥0, with strict inequality for some x, y ≥ 0 (F = new is better than used). Efficiency comparisons of some tests within the class are made and a new test is proposed on the basis of these comparisons. Consistency and the asymptotic normality of the class of tests is proved under fairly broad conditions on the underlying entities.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce a class of multivariate distributions, known as the generalized Liouville distribution and defined by the functional form (0 ≤xi < ∞, αi > 0, βi > 0, qi > 0). It is shown that such distributions can be used to derive both the Dirichlet distribution and the beta distribution of the second kind.  相似文献

We present a decomposition of the correlation coefficient between xt and xt?k into three terms that include the partial and inverse autocorrelations. The first term accounts for the portion of the autocorrelation that is explained by the inner variables {xt?1 , xt?2 , …, x t? k+1}, the second one measures the portion explained by the outer variables {x t+1, x t+2, } ∪ {x t?k?1, x t?k?2,…} and the third term measures the correlation between x t and xt?k given all other variables. These terms, squared and summed, can form the basis of three portmanteau-type tests that are able to detect both deviation from white noise and lack of fit of an entertained model. Quantiles of their asymptotic sample distributions are complicated to derive at an adequate level of accuracy, so they are approximated using the Monte Carlo method. A simulation experiment is carried out to investigate significance levels and power of each test, and compare them to the portmanteau test.  相似文献

The correlation coefficient is widely used to quantify the degree of association between two quantitative variables. By resorting to the geometric representation of the linear correlation coefficient, it is possible to calculate the upper and lower bounds of the correlation coefficient between two variables x 1,x 2 when the correlation coefficients with a third variable x 3 are available. Implications in observational studies, where x 3 could be a proxy of a target variable x 2, whose direct measurement is too expensive or impractical, are discussed.  相似文献

For given real functionsg andh, first we give necessary and sufficient conditions such that there exists a random variableX satisfying thatE(g(X)|X≥y)=h(y)r x (y),∀y ∈ C x , whereC x andT X are the support and the failure rate function ofX, respectively. These extend the results of Ruiz and Navarro (1994) and Ghitany et al. (1995). Next we investigate necessary and sufficient conditions such thath(y)=E(g(X)|X≥y), for a given functionh. Consider n independent random variables Zi,…, Zn on R with common distribution function F, whose upper tail belongs to a parametric family F(t) = Fθ(t),t ≥ x0, where θ ∈ ? ? R d. A necessary and sufficient condition for the family Fθ, θ ∈ ?, is established such that the k-th largest order statistic Zn?k+1:n alone constitutes the central sequence yielding local asymptotic normality ( LAN ) of the loglikelihood ratio of the vector (Zn?i+1:n)1 i=kof the k largest order statistics. This is achieved for k = k(n)→n→∞∞ with k/n→n→∞ 0.

In the case of vectors of central order statistics ( Zr:n, Zr+1:n,…, Zs:n ), with r/n and s/n both converging to q ∈ ( 0,1 ), it turns out that under fairly general conditions any order statistic Zm:n with r ≤ m ≤s builds the central sequence in a pertaining LAN expansion. These results lead to asymptotically optimal tests and estimators of the underlying parameter, which depend on single order statistics only  相似文献

Tests of homogeneity of normal means with the alternative restricted by an ordering on the means are considered. The simply ordered case, μ1 ≤ μ2 ≤ ··· ≤ μk, and the simple tree ordering, μ1 ≤ μj, for; j= 2, 3,…, k, are emphasized. A modification of the likelihood-ratio test is proposed which is asymptotically equivalent to it but is more robust to violations of the hypothesized orderings. The new test has power at the points satisfying the hypothesized ordering which is similar to that of the likelihood-ratio test provided the degrees of freedom are not too small. The modified test is shown to be unbiased and consistent.  相似文献

The problem of component wise estimation of ordered location parameters θ 1 (θ 1θ 2) of two independent exponential distributions is investigated. The scale parameters are assumed to be unequal but known. Independent random samples of unequal sample sizes are drawn from two populations and the estimators admissible among the mixed estimators of θ 1 and θ 2 are obtained. It is shown that the minimum risk estimators (MREs) of θ 1 and θ 2 without assuming θ 1θ 2 are inadmissible when one does assume that θ 1θ 2. The efficiencies of mixed estimators relative to MREs (without assuming θ 1θ 2) are tabulated for equal sample sizes and equal scale parameters.  相似文献
