Semi-parametric modelling of interval-valued data is of great practical importance, as exampled by applications in economic and financial data analysis. We propose a flexible semi-parametric modelling of interval-valued data by integrating the partial linear regression model based on the Center & Range method, and investigate its estimation procedure. Furthermore, we introduce a test statistic that allows one to decide between a parametric linear model and a semi-parametric model, and approximate its null asymptotic distribution based on wild Bootstrap method to obtain the critical values. Extensive simulation studies are carried out to evaluate the performance of the proposed methodology and the new test. Moreover, several empirical data sets are analysed to document its practical applications.  相似文献

In many applications of generalized linear mixed models to clustered correlated or longitudinal data, often we are interested in testing whether a random effects variance component is zero. The usual asymptotic mixture of chi‐square distributions of the score statistic for testing constrained variance components does not necessarily hold. In this article, the author proposes and explores a parametric bootstrap test that appears to be valid based on its estimated level of significance under the null hypothesis. Results from a simulation study indicate that the bootstrap test has a level much closer to the nominal one while the asymptotic test is conservative, and is more powerful than the usual asymptotic score test based on a mixture of chi‐squares. The proposed bootstrap test is illustrated using two sets of real‐life data obtained from clinical trials. The Canadian Journal of Statistics © 2009 Statistical Society of Canada  相似文献

Real count data time series often show the phenomenon of the underdispersion and overdispersion. In this paper, we develop two extensions of the first-order integer-valued autoregressive process with Poisson innovations, based on binomial thinning, for modeling integer-valued time series with equidispersion, underdispersion, and overdispersion. The main properties of the models are derived. The methods of conditional maximum likelihood, Yule–Walker, and conditional least squares are used for estimating the parameters, and their asymptotic properties are established. We also use a test based on our processes for checking if the count time series considered is overdispersed or underdispersed. The proposed models are fitted to time series of the weekly number of syphilis cases and monthly counts of family violence illustrating its capabilities in challenging the overdispersed and underdispersed count data.  相似文献

The popular diagnostic checking methods in linear time series models are portmanteau tests based on either residual autocorrelation functions (acf) or partial autocorrelation functions (pacf). In this paper, we device some new weighted mixed portmanteau tests by appropriately combining individual tests based on both acf and pacf. We derive the asymptotic distribution of such weighted mixed portmanteau statistics and study their size and power. It is found that the weighted mixed tests outperform when higher order ARMA models are fitted and diagnostic checks are performed via testing lack of residual autocorrelations. Simulation results suggest to use the proposed tests as complementary to those classical tests found in literature. An illustrative application is given to demonstrate the usefulness of the mixed test.  相似文献

A new test for detecting a change in linear regression parameters assuming a general weakly dependent error structure is given. It extends earlier methods based on cumulative sums assuming independent errors. The novelty is in the new standardization method and in smoothing when the time series is dominated by high frequencies. Simulations show the excellent performance of the test. Examples are taken from environmental applications. The algorithm is easy to implement. Testing for multiple changes can be done by segmentation. This paper studies a functional coe?cient time series model with trending regressors, where the coe?cients are unknown functions of time and random variables. We propose a local linear estimation method to estimate the unknown coe?cient functions, and establish the corresponding asymptotic theory under mild conditions. We also develop a test procedure to see if the functional coe?cients take particular parametric forms. For practical use, we further propose a Bayesian approach to select the bandwidths, and conduct several numerical experiments to examine the finite sample performance of our proposed local linear estimator and the test procedure. The results show that the local linear estimator works well and the proposed test has satisfactory size and power. In addition, our simulation studies show that the Bayesian bandwidth selection method performs better than the cross-validation method. Furthermore, we use the functional coe?cient model to study the relationship between consumption per capita and income per capita in United States, and it was shown that the functional coe?cient model with our proposed local linear estimator and Bayesian bandwidth selection method performs well in both in-sample fitting and out-of-sample forecasting.  相似文献

This article presents a new test for serial correlation in an observed stationary time series. Rather than using the traditional portmanteau tests based on the sample autocorrelation function, we propose a test based on the Cauchy estimator of correlation. A goodness-of-fit statistic for fitted autoregressive moving average models is also derived and the asymptotic distribution of this statistic is quantified. The test can be employed using either this asymptotic distribution or by using Monte-Carlo quantiles. The small sample behaviour is studied via simulation and the Monte-Carlo-based test seems to be more precise. The method is demonstrated on monthly asset returns for Facebook, Incorporated.  相似文献

Abstract

This paper proposes a nonparametric mixed test for normality of linear autoregressive time series. The test is based on the best one-step forecast in mean square with time reverse. The test statistic is the mixture of a goodness of fit statistic and Cramer–Von Mises statistic. Some asymptotic properties are developed for the test. Simulated results have shown that the test is easy to use and has good powers. Three examples of applying the test to real data are also included.  相似文献

Abstract. A goodness‐of‐fit test for continuous‐time models is developed that examines if the parameter estimates are consistent with another for different sampling frequencies. The test compares parameter estimates obtained from estimating functions for downsamples of the data. We prove asymptotic results for stationary and ergodic processes, and apply the downsampling test to linear drift diffusions. Simulations indicate that the test is quite powerful in detecting non‐Markovian deviations from the linear drift diffusions.  相似文献

As a useful extension of partially linear models and varying coefficient models, the partially linear varying coefficient model is useful in statistical modelling. This paper considers statistical inference for the semiparametric model when the covariates in the linear part are measured with additive error and some additional linear restrictions on the parametric component are available. We propose a restricted modified profile least-squares estimator for the parametric component, and prove the asymptotic normality of the proposed estimator. To test hypotheses on the parametric component, we propose a test statistic based on the difference between the corrected residual sums of squares under the null and alterative hypotheses, and show that its limiting distribution is a weighted sum of independent chi-square distributions. We also develop an adjusted test statistic, which has an asymptotically standard chi-squared distribution. Some simulation studies are conducted to illustrate our approaches.  相似文献

In the linear regression model, the asymptotic distributions of certain functions of confidence bounds of a class of confidence intervals for the regression parameter arc investigated. The class of confidence intervals we consider in this paper are based on the usual linear rank statistics (signed as well as unsigned). Under suitable assumptions, if the confidence intervals are based on the signed linear rank statistics, it is established that the lengths, properly normalized, of the confidence intervals converge in law to the standard normal distributions; if the confidence intervals arc based on the unsigned linear rank statistics, it is then proved that a linear function of the confidence bounds converges in law to a normal distribution.  相似文献

SiZer (SIgnificant ZERo crossing of the derivatives) is a scale-space visualization tool for statistical inferences. In this paper we introduce a graphical device, which is based on SiZer, for the test of the equality of the mean of two time series. The estimation of the quantile in a confidence interval is theoretically justified by advanced distribution theory. The extension of the proposed method to the comparison of more than two time series is also done using residual analysis. A broad numerical study is conducted to demonstrate the sample performance of the proposed tool. In addition, asymptotic properties of SiZer for the comparison of two time series are investigated.  相似文献

We propose a simple two-stage monitoring rule for detecting small disorders in a two-sample location problem. The proposed rule is based on ranks and hence is nonparametric in nature. In the first stage, we use a sequential monitoring scheme to decide the necessity of employing a location test at some point of time. If there is urgency, we simply use a two-sample Wilcoxon rank sum test in the second stage. This leads to a semi sequential one-shot monitoring procedure. We study some asymptotic performance of the proposed rule. We also present some numerical findings obtained through Monte Carlo studies. The proposed rule meets the challenge of controlling type I error rate in sequential monitoring of an incoming series of observations.  相似文献

Bootstrap in functional linear regression   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We have considered the functional linear model with scalar response and functional explanatory variable. One of the most popular methodologies for estimating the model parameter is based on functional principal components analysis (FPCA). In recent literature, weak convergence for a wide class of FPCA-type estimates has been proved, and consequently asymptotic confidence sets can be built. In this paper, we have proposed an alternative approach in order to obtain pointwise confidence intervals by means of a bootstrap procedure, for which we have obtained its asymptotic validity. Besides, a simulation study allows us to compare the practical behaviour of asymptotic and bootstrap confidence intervals in terms of coverage rates for different sample sizes.  相似文献

Built on Skaug and Tjøstheim's approach, this paper proposes a new test for serial independence by comparing the pairwise empirical distribution functions of a time series with the products of its marginals for various lags, where the number of lags increases with the sample size and different lags are assigned different weights. Typically, the more recent information receives a larger weight. The test has some appealing attributes. It is consistent against all pairwise dependences and is powerful against alternatives whose dependence decays to zero as the lag increases. Although the test statistic is a weighted sum of degenerate Cramér–von Mises statistics, it has a null asymptotic N (0, 1) distribution. The test statistic and its limit distribution are invariant to any order preserving transformation. The test applies to time series whose distributions can be discrete or continuous, with possibly infinite moments. Finally, the test statistic only involves ranking the observations and is computationally simple. It has the advantage of avoiding smoothed nonparametric estimation. A simulation experiment is conducted to study the finite sample performance of the proposed test in comparison with some related tests.  相似文献

A partially time-varying coefficient time series model is introduced to characterize the nonlinearity and trending phenomenon. To estimate the regression parameter and the nonlinear coefficient function, the profile least squares approach is applied with the help of local linear approximation. The asymptotic distributions of the proposed estimators are established under mild conditions. Meanwhile, the generalized likelihood ratio test is studied and the test statistics are demonstrated to follow asymptotic χ2-distribution under the null hypothesis. Furthermore, some extensions of the proposed model are discussed and several numerical examples are provided to illustrate the finite sample behavior of the proposed methods.  相似文献

This paper considers the power and size properties of some well known nonparametric linear rank tests for location and scale as well as the Kolmogorov-Smirnov omnibus test and proposed alternatives to it. Independence between some classes of linear rank tests is established facilitating their joint application. Monte Carlo study confirms the asymptotic power properties of the linear rank tests but raises concerns about their application in more general and practically relevant circumstances. It also indicates that the new omnibus tests constitute viable alternatives with superior properties to the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test in certain circumstances.  相似文献

The authors provide a rigorous large sample theory for linear models whose response variable has been subjected to the Box‐Cox transformation. They provide a continuous asymptotic approximation to the distribution of estimators of natural parameters of the model. They show, in particular, that the maximum likelihood estimator of the ratio of slope to residual standard deviation is consistent and relatively stable. The authors further show the importance for inference of normality of the errors and give tests for normality based on the estimated residuals. For non‐normal errors, they give adjustments to the log‐likelihood and to asymptotic standard errors.  相似文献

ABSTRACT. This paper considers a general class of random coefficient regression (RCR) models to represent pooled cross-sectional and time series data. A new method is given to estimate the covariance matrix of the error component in these RCR models. Also, the asymptotic and small sample properties of the estimated generalized least squares estimator of the regression coefficient vector are established. Procedures for testing a linear restriction on the mean vector of the random coefficients are derived. Finally, a test for non-randomness in the RCR model is devised, and the asymptotic distribution of the test statistic is obtained.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the multiple outlier problem in time series analysis. The underlying undisturbed time series is assumed to be an autoregressive process. The location of the suspicious values is supposed to be known. We introduce conditional least squares estimators for the parameters. The estimates are shown to be strongly consistent. Using similar arguments as in the theory of linear models, we get a test statistic for the general linear hypothesis. Its asymptotic distribution is derived.  相似文献
