Some partial orderings that compare probability distributions with the exponential distribution are found to be very useful to understand the phenomenon of ageing. Here, we introduce some new generalized partial orderings which describe the same kind of phenomenon of some generalized ageing classes. We give some equivalent conditions for each of the orderings. Inter-relations among the generalized orderings have also been discussed.  相似文献

Recently, Feizjavadian and Hashemi (2015 Feizjavadian, S.H., Hashemi, R. (2015). Mean residual weighted versus the length-biased Rayleigh distribution. J. Stat. Comput. Simul. 85:28232838.[Taylor &; Francis Online], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) introduced and studied the mean residual weighted (MRW) distribution as an alternative to the length-biased distribution, by using the concepts of the mean residual lifetime and the cumulative residual entropy (CRE). In this article, a new sequence of weighted distributions is introduced based on the generalized CRE. This sequence includes the MRW distribution. Properties of this sequence are obtained generalizing and extending previous results on the MRW distribution. Moreover, expressions for some known distributions are given, and finite mixtures between the new sequence of weighted distributions and the length-biased distribution are studied. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the new results.  相似文献

A generalized k-out-of-n system consists of N modules in which the i th module is composed of ni components in parallel. The system failswhen at least f components in the whole system or at least k consecutive modules have failed. In this article, we obtain the mean residual life function of such a generalized k-out-of-n system under different conditions, namely, when the number of components in each module is equal or unequal and when the components of the system are independent or exchangeable.  相似文献

Recently, Rao et al. [(2004) Cumulative residual entropy: a new measure of information. IEEE Trans. Inform. Theory 50(6), 1220–1228] have proposed a new measure of uncertainty, called cumulative residual entropy (CRE), in a distribution function F and obtained some properties and applications of that. In the present paper, we propose a dynamic form of CRE and obtain some of its properties. We show how CRE (and its dynamic version) is connected with well-known reliability measures such as the mean residual life time.  相似文献

In this paper, we provide some new preservation properties of generalized ageing classes (s-IFR) on the residual life at random time, where s is a nonnegative integer. We also obtain bounds of the residual life at exponential random time. Results are expected to be useful in the reliability, queue theory and actuarial science.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a general frailty model and develop its properties including some results for stochastic comparisons. More specifically, our main results lie in seeing how the well known stochastic orderings between distributions of two frailties translate into the orderings between the corresponding survival functions. These results are used to obtain the properties of the classical multiplicative frailty model and the additive frailty model. Several of the results, in the literature, are obtained as special cases.  相似文献

We give a general procedure to characterize multivariate distributions by using products of the hazard gradient and mean residual life components. This procedure is applied to characterize multivariate distributions as Gumbel exponential, Lomax, Burr, Pareto and generalized Pareto multivariate distributions. Our results extend the results of several authors and can be used to study how to extend univariate models to the multivariate set-up.  相似文献

In reliability studies the three quantities (1) the survival function, (2) the failure rate and (3) the mean residual life function are all equivalent in the sense that given one of them, the other two can be determined. In this paper we have considered the class of exponential type distributions and studied its mixture. Given any one of the above mentioned three quantities of the mixture a method is developed for determining the mixing density. Some examples are provided as illustrations. The purpose of this article is to study the bivariate distributions with second kind of beta conditionals, presented by Castillo and Sarabia, from a reliability point of view. The reliability functions, viz the survival function, the failure rate and mean residual life function, are derived and their monotonicity is discussed for the univariate model as well as the conditional model. Finally, Clayton’s association measure is obtained in terms of the hazard gradient and its value, in the case of our model, is derived.  相似文献

Motivated by practical issues, a new stochastic order for random variables is introduced by comparing all their percentile residual life functions until a certain instant. Some interpretations of these stochastic orders are given, and various properties of them are derived. The relationships to other stochastic orders are studied and also an application in reliability theory is described. Abstract

Recently, a new class of measure of uncertainty, called “dynamic survival entropy”, has been defined and studied in the literature. Based on this entropy, DSE(α) ordering, IDSE(α), and DDSE(α) classes of life distributions are defined and some results are studied. In this paper, our main aim is to prove some more results of the ordering and the aging classes of life distributions mentioned above. Some important distributions such as exponential, Pareto, Pareto II, and finite range distributions are also characterized. In this article, we introduce a new extension of the generalized linear failure rate (GLFR) distributions. It includes some well-known lifetime distributions such as extension of generalized exponential and GLFR distributions as special sub-models. In addition, it can have a constant, decreasing, increasing, upside-down bathtub (unimodal), and bathtub-shaped hazard rate function (hrf) depending on its parameters. We provide some of its statistical properties such as moments, quantiles, skewness, kurtosis, hrf, and reversible hrf. The maximum likelihood estimation of the parameters is also discussed. At the end, a real dataset is given to illustrate the usefulness of this new distribution in analyzing lifetime data.  相似文献

The article explores the relationship between distributions of order statistics from random vectors with exchangeable normal distributions and several skewed generalizations of the normal distribution. In particular, we show that the order statistics of exchangeable normal observations have closed skew-normal distributions, and that the corresponding density function is log-concave when the order statistic is extreme. Special attention is given to the bivariate case, which is related to the univariate skew-normal distribution. The applications discussed focus on the lifetimes of coherent systems.  相似文献
