Abstract

We suggested the class of estimators of the population mean with its bias and mean square error. It has been shown that the suggested class is more efficient than the usual unbiased, ratio, product and regression estimators and estimators due to Bahl and Tuteja (1991), Singh et al. (2009), and Upadhyaya et al. (2011). In addition an empirical study also carried out to and founded that the members of suggested family also have improvement over Grover and Kaur (2011) and Shabbir and Gupta (2011) classes. Two-phase (double) sampling version of the proposed class was also given.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The present work intends to put emphasis on the role of several auxiliary variables on both the occasions to improve the precision of estimates at current occasion in two-occasion successive sampling. Utilizing the readily available information on several auxiliary variables on both occasions and the information on study variable from the previous occasion, an efficient estimation procedure of population mean on current occasion has been suggested. Optimum replacement strategy and the efficiencies of the proposed estimator have been discussed. Empirical studies are carried out, and appropriate recommendations have been put forward for practical applications.  相似文献

In this paper, an attempt has been made to present some efficient classes of estimators of population mean on current occasion in two-occasion successive sampling under random non response in two-phase setup. Effectiveness of the proposed classes of estimators has been studied under the assumptions that sampling units follow a distribution under the random non response. To check the performances, the proposed classes of estimators are compared with an estimator under the similar situation under the complete response. Results are demonstrated through empirical studies which show the reliable nature of the proposed classes of estimators. Suitable recommendations have been made to the survey practitioners.  相似文献

Using two-phase sampling scheme, we propose a general class of estimators for finite population mean. This class depends on the sample means and variances of two auxiliary variables. The minimum variance bound for any estimator in the class is provided (up to terms of ordern −1). It is also proved that there exists at least a chain regression type estimator which reaches this minimum. Finally, it is shown that other proposed estimators can reach the minimum variance bound, i.e. the optimal estimator is not unique.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In this paper an attempt to estimate the current population mean in two-occasion successive sampling has been made. A modified regression-type estimator has been proposed. Optimum replacement strategy of the proposed estimator has been formulated. The proposed estimator is compared with sample mean estimator when there is no matching from the previous occasion and the optimum natural successive sampling estimator. Empirical studies are carried out and suitable recommendations have been made.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This article considers the problem of estimation of the ratio of population means at the current occasion based on the samples selected over two occasions. Using auxiliary information on both the occasions, some classes of estimators have been proposed. Properties of the proposed estimators have been studied and their respective optimum replacement strategies are discussed. The gains in efficiency of the proposed classes of estimators over the direct estimator where no past information is used are computed. Theoretical results have been interpreted through empirical studies which are followed by suitable recommendations.  相似文献

In the present article, we have proposed some classes of estimators based on transformed auxiliary variable. The biases and mean squared errors (MSEs) of the proposed estimators have been obtained. The proposed estimators have been compared with simple mean estimator when there is no matching and the optimum estimator, which is a combination of the means of the matched and unmatched portion of the sample at the second occasion. Optimum replacement policy and the efficiency of the proposed estimators have been discussed. Theoretical results are well supported with an empirical study.  相似文献

The article suggests a class of estimators of population mean in stratified random sampling using auxiliary information with its properties. In addition, various known estimators/classes of estimators are identified as members of the suggested class. This article suggests the class of estimators of population mean of study variable using various parameters related to an auxiliary variable with its properties in simple random sampling. It has been identified that the some existing estimator/classes of estimators are members of suggested class. It has been found theoretically as well as empirically that the suggested class is better than the existing methods.  相似文献

We propose a new ratio type estimator for estimating the finite population mean using two auxiliary variables in stratified two-phase sampling. Expressions for bias and mean squared error of the proposed estimator are derived up to the first order of approximation. ABSTRACT

For a trivariate distribution, an efficient family of estimators of median of study variable using the known information on the auxiliary variables has been proposed under two-phase sampling design. The expressions for bias and its mean square error have been obtained up to first order of approximation. It has been shown that the proposed estimator has smaller bias as compared to estimator defined by Singh et al. (2006 Singh, S., Singh, H.P., Upadhyaya, L.N. (2006). Chain ratio and regression type estimators for median estimation in survey sampling. Statist. Pap. 48:2346.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) with the same efficiency. The results have also been illustrated numerically by taking data from different populations considered in literature.  相似文献

This article advocates the problem of estimating the population variance of the study variable using information on certain known parameters of an auxiliary variable. A class of estimators for population variance using information on an auxiliary variable has been defined. In addition to many estimators, usual unbiased estimator, Isaki's (1983), Upadhyaya and Singh's (1999), and Kadilar and Cingi's (2006) estimators are shown as members of the proposed class of estimators. Asymptotic expressions for bias and mean square error of the proposed class of estimators have been obtained. An empirical study has been carried out to judge the performance of the various estimators of population variance generated from the proposed class of estimators over usual unbiased estimator, Isaki's (1983), Upadhyaya and Singh's (1999) and Kadilar and Cingi's (2006) estimators.  相似文献

Present investigation deals with the problem of random non response in estimation of population variance on current occasion in two-occasion successive sampling. To reduce the negative impact of random non response on both occasions, regression type imputation method has been suggested. Using auxiliary information, efficient estimation strategies have been developed for estimation of population variance on the current occasion. Estimator for the population variance is also derived as a special case when random non response occurs only on the current occasion. Empirical studies are carried out to show the dominance of suggested estimators over sample variance and exponential type estimators. Results are interpreted.  相似文献

This paper presents a modified exponential type estimation strategy for the current population mean in the presence of random non-response situations in two-occasion successive sampling under two-phase set-up. The properties of the proposed estimators have been examined with the assumption that numbers of sampling units follow a distribution due to random non-response. The performances of the proposed estimators are compared with the estimators designated for the complete response situations. Empirical studies are carried out to show the dominance nature of the proposed estimators over the estimator defined for complete response situations. Appropriate recommendations have been made to the survey practitioners/researchers for their real-life practical applications.  相似文献

This article considers some classes of estimators of the population median of the study variable using information on an auxiliary variable with their properties under large sample approximation. Asymptotic optimum estimator (AOE) in each class of estimators has been investigated along with the approximate mean square error formulae. ABSTRACT

The present work utilizes the information on multiauxiliary variables to neutralize the negative effect of non response in estimation of current population mean in two-occasion successive sampling. Generalized exponential type estimators have been proposed for the situation when non response occurs at both occasion or at first occasion or at current (second) occasion in two-occasion successive sampling. Properties of the proposed estimators have studied and empirical studies are carried out to justify the preposition of estimators. Suitable recommendations have been made.  相似文献
