Poor Child Finds Prosperity in Opera Troupe

OPERA troupes of various kinds usually play an important role during traditional Chinese holidays, adding color to the festivities. I am with such a troupe and give performances either in parks or at temple fairs during Spring Festivals and the Double Ninth Festivals, or sometimes, even in the street if there is a celebration. I am a retired worker. I do not give performances for money, but for fun and love—love for Hebei local opera, an art that I started to learn during my early teens.

I was not a flower lover when I was a little girl. Instead, I spent my days mixing with the "mischievous" boys in the neighborhood; my favorite toys were wooden sticks which I imagined to be guns. I guess part of the reason for my unusual behavior goes to the influence of my father serving in the army and China was undergoing the Cultural Revolution. Dear Women of China,After I read the article,Tradition Blooms with Games Bouquets,on your website,I learned the crocheted wool bouquets,made by Li Meili,a 70-year-old Shanghai granny,and her team,would be presented to medalists at the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in lieu of the usual fresh flowers.I love this creativity.That is both beautiful and eco-friendly.
