"I was mesmerized by you, a gentleman of an ancient Oriental country. I love you deeply, I shall fly over the hills and seas to be by your side and I shall live together with you all my life…" This is not a film subtitle but an excerpt from a letter a Dutch woman wrote to a Chinese man.  相似文献

Dear Readers,
Have you told your significant other lately just how much you love him/her? There's no better time than the present. February 14, the special day of the year to celebrate love, is especially auspicious in China this year -- both Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year fall on it.  相似文献

AFTER living in Beijing for ten years, I feel more and more attached to it. It is a modern city but also old, bustling yet profound, large yet amiable, where you can not only see the roots of Chinese history and culture, but also feel the pulse of China's development. After I visited historic sites and beautiful scenes in Beijing as a traveler and got to know the customs and the condition of the people, I came to love the city. The first song the current young Chinese generation learns in its childhood is "I Love Beijing's Tiananmen." Tiananmen and the  相似文献

Hemingway should never once said you travel with a person you do not love. There was a time when I thought almost anyone would be a fitting travel companion, but maybe my own aging and increasing inflexibility in certain matters has made me agree with him.  相似文献

OPERA troupes of various kinds usually play an important role during traditional Chinese holidays, adding color to the festivities. I am with such a troupe and give performances either in parks or at temple fairs during Spring Festivals and the Double Ninth Festivals, or sometimes, even in the street if there is a celebration. I am a retired worker. I do not give performances for money, but for fun and love—love for Hebei local opera, an art that I started to learn during my early teens.  相似文献

I'm delighted to write a column in Women of China English Monthly. Here, 1'11 share interesting findings, key insightsand real stories from the work I've been doing with thousands of competent professional women in China -- and around Asia. Given that it's the start of the calendar year, I want to shave a powerful exercise -- on reflection, to set you up for success in the coming year, and beyond. To start, grab a journal, and answer the following questions: What do you think your colleagues would say about you? What have been your key successes during the past year? What are the best practices you used to achieve those successes'?  相似文献

I have been living in Beijing for nearly 20 years. I often ride my bike to and from the office. I love to avoid crowded roads and ride through the hutongs, or small lanes. I was not a flower lover when I was a little girl. Instead, I spent my days mixing with the "mischievous" boys in the neighborhood; my favorite toys were wooden sticks which I imagined to be guns. I guess part of the reason for my unusual behavior goes to the influence of my father serving in the army and China was undergoing the Cultural Revolution. Then all things beyond bare necessity were categorized as bourgeois extravagance. How could a prole-tariat offspring come to love flowers, which  相似文献

In the autumn, the season of harvest, you should be grateful. Each creature enjoys nature's bounty, and everyone needs nurturing love from their family members, sweethearts and friends.
