A correlation curve measures the strength of the association between two variables locally at different values of covariate. This paper studies how to estimate the correlation curve under the multiplicative distortion measurement errors setting. The unobservable variables are both distorted in a multiplicative fashion by an observed confounding variable. We obtain asymptotic normality results for the estimated correlation curve. We conduct Monte Carlo simulation experiments to examine the performance of the proposed estimator. The estimated correlation curve is applied to analyze a real dataset for an illustration.  相似文献

We study partial linear single-index models (PLSiMs) when the response and the covariates in the parametric part are measured with additive distortion measurement errors. These distortions are modeled by unknown functions of a commonly observable confounding variable. We use the semiparametric profile least-squares method to estimate the parameters in the PLSiMs based on the residuals obtained from the distorted variables and confounding variable. We also employ the smoothly clipped absolute deviation penalty (SCAD) to select the relevant variables in the PLSiMs. We show that the resulting SCAD estimators are consistent and possess the oracle property. For the non parametric link function, we construct the simultaneous confidence bands and obtain the asymptotic distribution of the maximum absolute deviation between the estimated link function and the true link function. A simulation study is conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed methods and a real dataset is analyzed for illustration.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose several dimension reduction methods when the covariates are measured with additive distortion measurement errors. These distortions are modelled by unknown functions of a commonly observable confounding variable. To estimate the central subspace, we propose residuals-based dimension reduction estimation methods and direct estimation methods. The consistency and asymptotic normality of the proposed estimators are investigated. Furthermore, we conduct some simulations to evaluate the performance of our proposed method and compare with existing methods, and a real data set is analysed for illustration.  相似文献

We consider statistical inference for partial linear additive models (PLAMs) when the linear covariates are measured with errors and distorted by unknown functions of commonly observable confounding variables. A semiparametric profile least squares estimation procedure is proposed to estimate unknown parameter under unrestricted and restricted conditions. Asymptotic properties for the estimators are established. To test a hypothesis on the parametric components, a test statistic based on the difference between the residual sums of squares under the null and alternative hypotheses is proposed, and we further show that its limiting distribution is a weighted sum of independent standard chi-squared distributions. A bootstrap procedure is further proposed to calculate critical values. Simulation studies are conducted to demonstrate the performance of the proposed procedure and a real example is analyzed for an illustration.  相似文献

Linear models are considered in which measurement error is present in the dependent variable. Observed values are related to true values via nonlinear regression models with the parameters in the measurement error models being estimated with the use of independent, external data, collected using standards. Pseudo-maximum likelihood estimators and their asymptotic properties are developed under normality assumptions and the common approach of simply analyzing imputed values obtained from the nestimated calibration curves is assessed. A small simulation evaluates the procedures. An example is presented in which urinary neopterin (measured via radioimmunoassay) is nbeing compared between two groups of individuals.  相似文献

This paper considers nonlinear regression models when neither the response variable nor the covariates can be directly observed, but are measured with both multiplicative and additive distortion measurement errors. We propose conditional variance and conditional mean calibration estimation methods for the unobserved variables, then a nonlinear least squares estimator is proposed. For the hypothesis testing of parameter, a restricted estimator under the null hypothesis and a test statistic are proposed. The asymptotic properties for the estimator and test statistic are established. Lastly, a residual-based empirical process test statistic marked by proper functions of the regressors is proposed for the model checking problem. We further suggest a bootstrap procedure to calculate critical values. Simulation studies demonstrate the performance of the proposed procedure and a real example is analysed to illustrate its practical usage.  相似文献

We consider some estimation and distribution problems encountered in a two way analysis of variance model with only one observation per cell, errors correlated in one level, and the variances are not necessarily equal. The independence criteria for the row and interaction mean sum of squares and distribution of the maximum likelihood estimator of the correlation coefficient are given.  相似文献

In this paper, we extend the structural probit measurement error model by considering that the unobserved covariate follows a skew-normal distribution. The new model is termed the structural skew-normal probit model. As in the normal case, the likelihood function is obtained analytically which can be maximized by using existing statistical software. A Bayesian approach using Markov chain Monte Carlo techniques to generate from the posterior distributions is also developed. A simulation study demonstrates the usefulness of the approach in avoiding attenuation which is the case with the naive procedure and it seems to be more efficient than using the structural probit model when the distribution of the covariate (predictor) is skew.  相似文献

For the unbalanced analysis of covariance model with one covariate, a simple formula is given for the intraclass correlation coefficient estimator that results from Henderson's Method 3 estimation of variance components. Example calculations and the corresponding interpretations are given for a study of the correlation of iron content among brothers. The example illustrates the manner in which the estimator depends on the pattern of correlation between the covariate and the variable under investigation.  相似文献

The most popular method for trying to detect an association between two random variables is to test H 0 ?:?ρ=0, the hypothesis that Pearson's correlation is equal to zero. It is well known, however, that Pearson's correlation is not robust, roughly meaning that small changes in any distribution, including any bivariate normal distribution as a special case, can alter its value. Moreover, the usual estimate of ρ, r, is sensitive to only a few outliers which can mask a true association. A simple alternative to testing H 0 ?:?ρ =0 is to switch to a measure of association that guards against outliers among the marginal distributions such as Kendall's tau, Spearman's rho, a Winsorized correlation, or a so-called percentage bend correlation. But it is known that these methods fail to take into account the overall structure of the data. Many measures of association that do take into account the overall structure of the data have been proposed, but it seems that nothing is known about how they might be used to detect dependence. One such measure of association is selected, which is designed so that under bivariate normality, its estimator gives a reasonably accurate estimate of ρ. Then methods for testing the hypothesis of a zero correlation are studied.  相似文献

In this paper, we study inference in a heteroscedastic measurement error model with known error variances. Instead of the normal distribution for the random components, we develop a model that assumes a skew-t distribution for the true covariate and a centred Student's t distribution for the error terms. The proposed model enables to accommodate skewness and heavy-tailedness in the data, while the degrees of freedom of the distributions can be different. Maximum likelihood estimates are computed via an EM-type algorithm. The behaviour of the estimators is also assessed in a simulation study. Finally, the approach is illustrated with a real data set from a methods comparison study in Analytical Chemistry.  相似文献

An important factor in house prices is its location. However, measurement errors arise frequently in the process of observing variables such as the latitude and longitude of the house. The single-index models with measurement errors are used to study the relationship between house location and house price. We obtain the estimators by a SIMEX method based on the local linear method and the estimating equation. To test the significance of the index coefficient and the linearity of the link function, we establish the generalized likelihood ratio (GLR) tests for the models. We demonstrate that the asymptotic null distributions of the established GLR tests follow χ2-distributions which are independent of nuisance parameters or functions. Finally, two simulated examples and a real estate valuation data set are given to illustrate the effect of GLR tests.  相似文献

Abstract.  This paper proposes a constrained empirical likelihood confidence region for a parameter in the semi-linear errors-in-variables model. The confidence region is constructed by combining the score function corresponding to the squared orthogonal distance with a constraint on the parameter, and it overcomes that the solution of limiting mean estimation equations is not unique. It is shown that the empirical log likelihood ratio at the true parameter converges to the standard chi-square distribution. Simulations show that the proposed confidence region has coverage probability which is closer to the nominal level, as well as narrower than those of normal approximation of generalized least squares estimator in most cases. A real data example is given.  相似文献

In this paper, we develop modified versions of the likelihood ratio test for multivariate heteroskedastic errors-in-variables regression models. The error terms are allowed to follow a multivariate distribution in the elliptical class of distributions, which has the normal distribution as a special case. We derive the Skovgaard-adjusted likelihood ratio statistics, which follow a chi-squared distribution with a high degree of accuracy. We conduct a simulation study and show that the proposed tests display superior finite sample behaviour as compared to the standard likelihood ratio test. We illustrate the usefulness of our results in applied settings using a data set from the WHO MONICA Project on cardiovascular disease.  相似文献

We construct a specific form of piecewise distortion function which can distort a random risk to its expectile. After analyzing this kind of distortion functions, we define a class of distortion functions which are generated from random variables. The consistent estimation of the expectile distortion parameter is given by the maximum empirical likelihood method. The expectile distortion not only inherits the good properties of concave distortion measures but also has its own advantages. Since that, we discuss the potential usage of this measure and imagine a new premium principle based on the non self form of this measure.  相似文献

In this article, we propose a beta regression model with multiplicative log-normal measurement errors. Three estimation methods are presented, namely, naive, calibration regression, and pseudo likelihood. The nuisance parameters are estimated from a system of estimation equations using replicated data and these estimates are used to propose a pseudo likelihood function. A simulation study was performed to assess some properties of the proposed methods. Results from an example with a real dataset, including diagnostic tools, are also reported.  相似文献

In this paper, we focus on the empirical likelihood (EL) inference for high-dimensional partially linear model with martingale difference errors. An empirical log-likelihood ratio statistic of unknown parameter is constructed and is shown to have asymptotically normality distribution under some suitable conditions. This result is different from those derived before. Furthermore, an empirical log-likelihood ratio for a linear combination of unknown parameter is also proposed and its asymptotic distribution is chi-squared. Based on these results, the confidence regions both for unknown parameter and a linear combination of parameter can be obtained. A simulation study is carried out to show that our proposed approach performs better than normal approximation-based method.  相似文献

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is twofold. First, we investigate estimations in varying-coefficient partially linear errors-in-variables models with covariates missing at random. However, the estimators are often biased due to the existence of measurement errors, the bias-corrected profile least-squares estimator and local liner estimators for unknown parametric and coefficient functions are obtained based on inverse probability weighted method. The asymptotic properties of the proposed estimators both for the parameter and nonparametric parts are established. Second, we study asymptotic distributions of an empirical log-likelihood ratio statistic and maximum empirical likelihood estimator for the unknown parameter. Based on this, more accurate confidence regions of the unknown parameter can be constructed. The methods are examined through simulation studies and illustrated by a real data analysis.  相似文献
