The integration of volunteers in organizations On the background of the current changes in the general work conditions, a professional volunteer management in organizations is necessary. The author demonstrates, that in organizations a professional staff with management competences is a precondition. The peculiarities in leading volunteers are explained. The focus of the article are suggestions to a personnel development, in order to instruct and to attend individual employees or larger organizational units for a successful cooperation with volunteers. Supervision and training have been offered to schools as constant components of the support and consulting measures for 12 years now. Over nearly the same period of time supervision processes have also been evaluated, namely for nine years. The results show how crucial supervision has become in the school system and how strongly the people involved can benefit from it. Since principals in schools are increasingly turning into managers of educational institutions, coaching approaches have an increasing importance. Accordingly, the Bavarian Ministry for Education and Culture in cooperation with the National Institute for Quality in Schools and Educational Research and the Academy of Teacher Education and Personnel Management has introduced the project ?Coaching – an Instrument to Professionalise School-based Leadership“. The project involves exemplary coachings of school management teams and the training of coaches with a focus on school-related issues at the University of Innsbruck. The training of coaches is based on a special curriculum, which was evaluated using a multi-methods approach. This paper disentangles the impact of schools and teachers in influencing achievement with special attention given to the potential problems of omitted or mismeasured variables and of student and school selection. Unique matched panel data from the UTD Texas Schools Project permit the identification of teacher quality based on student performance along with the impact of specific, measured components of teachers and schools. Semiparametric lower bound estimates of the variance in teacher quality based entirely on within‐school heterogeneity indicate that teachers have powerful effects on reading and mathematics achievement, though little of the variation in teacher quality is explained by observable characteristics such as education or experience. The results suggest that the effects of a costly ten student reduction in class size are smaller than the benefit of moving one standard deviation up the teacher quality distribution, highlighting the importance of teacher effectiveness in the determination of school quality.  相似文献

The article presents an approach of Blended Coaching, which was evaluated in an empirical study in the non-profit-sector and emerged as a concept for the profit sector. Blended Business Coaching helps to transfer training contents of advanced vocational trainings into professional daily life. Using special methods, this transfer coaching utilizes the advantages of both face-to-face communication and internet based communication for the continuing education and coaching of the participants. The utility of organizational behavior management (OBM) for improving the delivery of special education and related services in public school districts was investigated in three experimental studies. Each study employed a multiple baseline design to judge the efficacy of an OBM intervention on service delivery problems common to most public school organizations. The problems and OBM interventions were: (1) expanding the range of functioning of school psychologists through performance feedback; (2) training special service teams to develop valuable individual education programs (IEPs) with a behavioral, in-service training program; and (3) ensuring the implementation of a special education resource room program by means of program consultation. All interventions were implemented by public school program managers and staff. In each study, the particular intervention resulted in improvement in service delivery performance. Results of the studies are discussed within the context of the recently enacted legislation for the education of handicapped children and in terms of generality to mental health, business, and industrial settings.  相似文献

The current study examines how organizational career management – i.e. activities undertaken by schools in order to plan and manage teachers’ careers – relates to teachers’ career self-management – i.e. teachers steering their careers by means of searching for opportunities, networking, or seeking supervisory support. Moreover, it examines the mediating roles of occupational self-efficacy and learning goal orientation in this relationship. Mediation analysis in SPSS, using the PROCESS macro of survey data from 220 Dutch secondary school teachers, showed that positive relationships between organizational career management and career self-management were mediated by occupational self-efficacy and learning goal orientation.  相似文献

“Internal Coaching” addresses a broad spectrum of in-house counseling. Coaching is thereby portrayed less as a profession in its own right, rather as a function which individuals with very different roles can offer and employ. Personnel directors, top managers and special internal advisors present insights into their advisory functions within companies. It becomes clear that coaching as an internal function has become an integral part of the firms. Thus this book is equally relevant for internal and external coaches. Exposure to and analysis of coaching skills from various service points of view can create greater awareness of one’s own role and strengthen professional cooperation.  相似文献

Motivated by the lack of evidence supporting the conjecture that the back-propagation neural network (BPNN) is a universal approximator thus it can perform at least comparably to linear models on linear data, this study is designed to answer two primary research questions, namely, “how does the BPNN perform with respect to various underlying ARMA(p,q) structures?” and “how does the level of noise in the training time series affect the BPNNs performance?” The goal is to understand better the modelling and forecasting ability of BPNNs on a special class of time series and suggest proper training strategies to improve performance. Using Box–Jenkins models’ performance as a benchmark, it is concluded that BPNNs generally performed well and consistently for time series corresponding to ARMA(p,q) structures. BPNNs’ ability to model and forecast is not affected by the number of parameters but by the magnitude of the coefficients of the underlying structure. Overall, BPNNs perform significantly better for most of the structures when a particular noise level is considered during network training. Therefore, a proper strategy is to train networks at a noise level consistent in magnitude with the time series’ sample standard deviation.  相似文献

Improving the productive use of employee time concerns most supervisors in organizational settings. In this paper, a time management program for organizational staff members (nine public school teachers) is described and evaluative results of the use of the program are reported. Using a multiple baseline across schools design, results suggest that training teachers in time management can increase and maintain the amount of time devoted to academic instruction of pupils. Limitations of the study are discussed and directions for future research are noted.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The study explored public perceptions on the combined military training and academic instruction in Eritrea. The sample consisted of 100 school leavers, 10 parents, and 20 teachers. The research instruments were questionnaire and interview guide. The findings revealed that the combined military and academic instruction was perceived to be negative, since it is government imposed and puts more emphasis on military training and the harsh military environment in which academics is carried out. However, learning diverse skills, promoting national unity, and creating patriotic spirit were mentioned as some positive outcomes of the system. The study recommends that the government needs to carry out the military training and academic studies in separate locations, liberalize education, and enable parents to have a voice in school decisions.  相似文献

In-service education and training (INSET), motivation and person-job fit of workers are considered vital for the performance of employees. The focused purpose of the study is to examine the associations between in-service training and motivation impact on job performance of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) teachers, while examining the moderating role of person-job fit. Using convenience sampling technique, data is collected from TVET teachers in South Asia. The finding of this study revealed a significant impact for in-service training and motivation on job performance. This research study is useful for the HR managers and practitioners to utilize their employee’s true potential to get the desired results.

The article describes the findings of a study of the motivations for pursuing extended vocational training, phases of career development and the structure of addressees based on professional training as a coach. The study showed that the central motive for a coaching training is supporting other people. Overall, instrumental motives are the most prevalent in this group of addressees. Looking at their individual career development, a clear picture emerges which places most of them in the professional establishment and maintenance phase. The addressees are predominantly highly qualified, as well as professionally and financially well positioned. A result of the training type classification indicates that the main incentive is to achieve work-related improvements from a stable personal career context.  相似文献

Students often make their decision of a course of studies without being aware of the consequences for their future career and life, without having been informed about alternatives and — even more important — without having thought about their personal talents and interests. During their studies itself, they often run into difficulties when they realise that they took the wrong decision. High rates of changes in studies or cancelling all studies are the consequence (25 % in total, more than 40 % in special studies like social sciences). The author works as a students’ advisor and students’ coach and, among others, offers analyses of talents and a comprehensive advisory training for professional orientation. Few studies have explored the professional training experiences of Arab women within the contexts of learning organisational cultures and relevant human resource development (HRD) practices. Capitalising on in-depth, face-to-face interviews, this study explores the experiences of women managers in Lebanon with professional training and organisational learning. The findings demonstrate the paucity of professional training and learning opportunities for women and illustrate how organisational discrimination and gender-biased cultures and tension influence women’s learning. To overcome these barriers and alleviate organisational tension, the Lebanese women managers capitalise on their agency and individual capacities to improve their training experiences and increase their access to learning opportunities. By virtue of individual agency and through their agentic process, the careerists shape their training and overall learning by being adaptive and developing structures of action that enable them to advance their learning. The results have important implications for HR managers and HRD scholars. They also extend our understanding of the importance, or lack thereof, of the learning culture within an organisation.  相似文献

The dimension of 'blame' was explored as part of a conceptual framework for teachers' externalization of occupational stress. It was proposed that teachers allocate principal responsibility for their occupational stress to sources external to the individual. The authors suggest that teachers externalize their dissatisfaction to these (external to self) domains. This hypothesis was explored with a sample (n=111) of teachers in the service of the New South Wales Department of Education, Australia. A survey, composed of multiple items, dealt separately with the phenomena of perceived occupational satisfaction-dissatisfaction and stress. Four stress factors were isolated. These were named: personal, student, school and external (to school). These factors were consistent with the authors' hypothesis that teachers generally externalize blame for their stress. Further examination of the association between the satisfaction factor scores and the stress factor scores revealed significant canonical correlations. The main contributors to the correlation between stress and satisfaction factors were the personal domain (stress) and income (satisfaction) and the school domain (stress) and school culture (satisfaction).  相似文献

A case report about Hessian project schoolsOn the basis of four examples from his practical experience, a Hessian school-mediator illustrates both the immediate profit of mediation for the conflicting parties and the influence of the training ground of mediation for personal development, as well as the importance for professional qualification. Mediation is presented both as an educational and a political model which needs for its development a systemic concept. Various building blocks for a concept of constructive conflict resolution are presented.
