Powerful goodness-of-fit tests based on the likelihood ratio   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Summary. A new approach of parameterization is proposed to construct a general goodness-of-fit test. It can not only generate traditional tests (including the Kolmogorov–Smirnov, Cramér–von Mises and Anderson–Darling tests) but also produce new types of omnibus tests, which are generally much more powerful than the old ones.  相似文献

Cramér–von Mises type goodness of fit tests for interval censored data case 2 are proposed based on a resampling method called the leveraged bootstrap, and their asymptotic consistency is shown. The proposed tests are computationally efficient, and in fact can be applied to other types of censored data, including right censored data, doubly censored data and (mixture of) case k interval censored data. Some simulation results and an example from AIDS research are presented.  相似文献

In this paper we provide three nonparametric tests of independence between continuous random variables based on the Bernstein copula distribution function and the Bernstein copula density function. The first test is constructed based on a Cramér-von Mises divergence-type functional based on the empirical Bernstein copula process. The two other tests are based on the Bernstein copula density and use Cramér-von Mises and Kullback–Leibler divergence-type functionals, respectively. Furthermore, we study the asymptotic null distribution of each of these test statistics. Finally, we consider a Monte Carlo experiment to investigate the performance of our tests. In particular we examine their size and power which we compare with those of the classical nonparametric tests that are based on the empirical distribution function.  相似文献

Built on Skaug and Tjøstheim's approach, this paper proposes a new test for serial independence by comparing the pairwise empirical distribution functions of a time series with the products of its marginals for various lags, where the number of lags increases with the sample size and different lags are assigned different weights. Typically, the more recent information receives a larger weight. The test has some appealing attributes. It is consistent against all pairwise dependences and is powerful against alternatives whose dependence decays to zero as the lag increases. Although the test statistic is a weighted sum of degenerate Cramér–von Mises statistics, it has a null asymptotic N (0, 1) distribution. The test statistic and its limit distribution are invariant to any order preserving transformation. The test applies to time series whose distributions can be discrete or continuous, with possibly infinite moments. Finally, the test statistic only involves ranking the observations and is computationally simple. It has the advantage of avoiding smoothed nonparametric estimation. A simulation experiment is conducted to study the finite sample performance of the proposed test in comparison with some related tests.  相似文献

We propose a family of goodness-of-fit tests for copulas. The tests use generalizations of the information matrix (IM) equality of White and so relate to the copula test proposed by Huang and Prokhorov. The idea is that eigenspectrum-based statements of the IM equality reduce the degrees of freedom of the test’s asymptotic distribution and lead to better size-power properties, even in high dimensions. The gains are especially pronounced for vine copulas, where additional benefits come from simplifications of score functions and the Hessian. We derive the asymptotic distribution of the generalized tests, accounting for the nonparametric estimation of the marginals and apply a parametric bootstrap procedure, valid when asymptotic critical values are inaccurate. In Monte Carlo simulations, we study the behavior of the new tests, compare them with several Cramer–von Mises type tests and confirm the desired properties of the new tests in high dimensions.  相似文献

Abstract.  In this article, we introduce a procedure to test the equality of regression functions when the response variables are censored. The test is based on a comparison of Kaplan–Meier estimators of the distribution of the censored residuals. Kolmogorov–Smirnov- and Cramér–von Mises-type statistics are considered. Some asymptotic results are proved: weak convergence of the process of interest, convergence of the test statistics and behaviour of the process under local alternatives. We also describe a bootstrap procedure in order to approximate the critical values of the test. A simulation study and an application to a real data set conclude the paper.  相似文献

In this study, we provide the Farlie–Gumbel–Morgenstern bivariate copula of rth and sth order statistics. The main emphasis in this study is on the inference procedure which is based on the maximum pseudo-likelihood estimate for the copula parameter. As for the methodology, goodness-of-fit test statistic for copulas which is based on a Cramér–von Mises functional of the empirical copula process is applied for selecting an appropriate model by bootstrapping. An application of the methodology to simulated data set is also presented.  相似文献

We propose a class of flexible non-parametric tests for the presence of dependence between components of a random vector based on weighted Cramér–von Mises functionals of the empirical copula process. The weights act as a tuning parameter and are shown to significantly influence the power of the test, making it more sensitive to different types of dependence. Asymptotic properties of the test are stated in the general case, for an arbitrary bounded and integrable weighting function, and computational formulas for a number of weighted statistics are provided. Several issues relating to the choice of the weights are discussed, and a simulation study is conducted to investigate the power of the test under a variety of dependence alternatives. The greatest gain in power is found to occur when weights are set proportional to true deviations from independence copula.  相似文献

Summary. The paper considers a rectangular array asymptotic embedding for multistratum data sets, in which both the number of strata and the number of within-stratum replications increase, and at the same rate. It is shown that under this embedding the maximum likelihood estimator is consistent but not efficient owing to a non-zero mean in its asymptotic normal distribution. By using a projection operator on the score function, an adjusted maximum likelihood estimator can be obtained that is asymptotically unbiased and has a variance that attains the Cramér–Rao lower bound. The adjusted maximum likelihood estimator can be viewed as an approximation to the conditional maximum likelihood estimator.  相似文献

Fully nonparametric tests for the independence between random vectors are studied in this paper. The test statistics are functionals of an empirical process defined as the difference between the joint empirical copula and the product of the empirical copulas associated to the vectors that are suspected to be independent. The validity of a weighted bootstrap procedure is established, which allows for a quick computation of p-values. A special attention is given to the asymptotic behavior of the tests under contiguous sequences of distributions. Finally, a characteristic of the copulas in the Archimedean class in terms of independence of vectors is exploited in order to propose a new goodness-of-fit procedure.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the asymptotic behavior of empirical processes when parameters are estimated, assuming that the underlying sequence of random variables is long-range dependent. We show completely different phenomena compared to i.i.d. situation, as well as compared to ordinary empirical processes of long-range dependent sequences. Applications include Kolmogorov–Smirnov and Cramer–Smirnov–von Mises goodness-of-fit statistics.  相似文献

In this paper the interest is in testing the null hypothesis of positive quadrant dependence (PQD) between two random variables. Such a testing problem is important since prior knowledge of PQD is a qualitative restriction that should be taken into account in further statistical analysis, for example, when choosing an appropriate copula function to model the dependence structure. The key methodology of the proposed testing procedures consists of evaluating a “distance” between a nonparametric estimator of a copula and the independence copula, which serves as a reference case in the whole set of copulas having the PQD property. Choices of appropriate distances and nonparametric estimators of copula are discussed, and the proposed methods are compared with testing procedures based on bootstrap and multiplier techniques. The consistency of the testing procedures is established. In a simulation study the authors investigate the finite sample size and power performances of three types of test statistics, Kolmogorov–Smirnov, Cramér–von‐Mises, and Anderson–Darling statistics, together with several nonparametric estimators of a copula, including recently developed kernel type estimators. Finally, they apply the testing procedures on some real data. The Canadian Journal of Statistics 38: 555–581; 2010 © 2010 Statistical Society of Canada  相似文献

Two tests for serial dependence are proposed using a generalized spectral theory in combination with the empirical distribution function. The tests are generalizations of the Cramér-von Mises and Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests based on the standardized spectral distribution function. They do not involve the choice of a lag order, and they are consistent against all types of pairwise serial dependence, including those with zero autocorrelation. They also require no moment condition and are distribution free under serial independence. A simulation study compares the finite sample performances of the new tests and some closely related tests. The asymptotic distribution theory works well in finite samples. The generalized Cramér-von Mises test has good power against a variety of dependent alternatives and dominates the generalized Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. A local power analysis explains some important stylized facts on the power of the tests based on the empirical distribution function.  相似文献

In this article, we consider Crámer–von Mises type goodness-of-fit statistics for the Generalized Pareto law. The tests involve a certain transformation of the original observations, which, at least in the case of completely specified null distribution, may be viewed as transforming to uniformity and comparing the resulting moments of arbitrary positive order to those of a uniform distribution. The method is shown to be consistent, and the asymptotic null distribution of the test statistic is derived. Simulation results indicate that the proposed test compares well with standard methods based on the empirical distribution function.  相似文献

We consider several time series, and for each of them, we fit an appropriate dynamic parametric model. This produces serially independent error terms for each time series. The dependence between these error terms is then modelled by a regime-switching copula. The EM algorithm is used for estimating the parameters and a sequential goodness-of-fit procedure based on Cramér–von Mises statistics is proposed to select the appropriate number of regimes. Numerical experiments are performed to assess the validity of the proposed methodology. As an example of application, we evaluate a European put-on-max option on the returns of two assets. To facilitate the use of our methodology, we have built a R package HMMcopula available on CRAN. The Canadian Journal of Statistics 48: 79–96; 2020 © 2020 Statistical Society of Canada  相似文献

In this paper we derive some new tests for goodness-of-fit based on Rubin's empirical distribution function (EDF). Substituting Rubin's EDF for the classical EDF in the Kolmogorov–Smirnov, Cramér–von Mises, Anderson–Darling statistics, since Rubin's EDF for a given sample is a randomized distribution function, randomized statistics are derived, of which the qth quantile and the expectation are chosen as test statistics. We show that the new tests are consistent under simple hypothesis. Several power comparisons are also performed to show that the new tests are generally more powerful than the classical ones.  相似文献

Copulas characterize the dependence among components of random vectors. Unlike marginal and joint distributions, which are directly observable, the copula of a random vector is a hidden dependence structure that links the joint distribution with its margins. Choosing a parametric copula model is thus a nontrivial task but it can be facilitated by relying on a nonparametric estimator. Here the authors propose a kernel estimator of the copula that is mean square consistent everywhere on the support. They determine the bias and variance of this estimator. They also study the effects of kernel smoothing on copula estimation. They then propose a smoothing bandwidth selection rule based on the derived bias and variance. After confirming their theoretical findings through simulations, they use their kernel estimator to formulate a goodness-of-fit test for parametric copula models.  相似文献

The authors propose new rank statistics for testing the white noise hypothesis in a time series. These statistics are Cramér‐von Mises and Kolmogorov‐Smirnov functionals of an empirical distribution function whose mean is related to a serial version of Kendall's tau through a linear transform. The authors determine the asymptotic behaviour of the underlying serial process and the large‐sample distribution of the proposed statistics under the null hypothesis of white noise. They also present simulation results showing the power of their tests.  相似文献

We introduce an omnibus goodness-of-fit test for statistical models for the conditional distribution of a random variable. In particular, this test is useful for assessing whether a regression model fits a data set on all its assumptions. The test is based on a generalization of the Cramér–von Mises statistic and involves a local polynomial estimator of the conditional distribution function. First, the uniform almost sure consistency of this estimator is established. Then, the asymptotic distribution of the test statistic is derived under the null hypothesis and under contiguous alternatives. The extension to the case where unknown parameters appear in the model is developed. A simulation study shows that the test has good power against some common departures encountered in regression models. Moreover, its power is comparable to that of other nonparametric tests designed to examine only specific departures.  相似文献
