"Readers Forum" in Shanghai

On 23 April in Shanghai, a "Readers Forum" was held by Women of China to promote contact and exchangewith our readers and improve our work. It was a great honor that some of our foreign women readers, who areliving in Shanghai with their families on business at present, joined us, and nine of them made speeches at theforum. Moreover, two readers who couldn't attend the forum in person, accepted a telephone interview. Shown hereare their kind comments and suggestions for our magazine.     

Chinese Consumers Wake Up and Take Action

TEN years ago, if you had asked a woman shopping in a market, "What are your rights as a consumer?" chances are, she would have responded with a bewildered face. Today, however, more and more people are trying to protect and enjoy their rights as consumers according to the law. Tasting Exotic Cultural Flavour in Lijiang

The New Millennium has brought a renewed focus onto China's abundance of world heritage sites. Up to now, 21 scenic spots in China have been included in the list of world heritage sites by the UNESCO and some others are in the process of application. Scattered over the country, these places are the gems of Chinese tourism resources. We have chosen two of them to offer to our readers. First is the unique charm of ancient Lijiang County in China's southwestern frontier province, Yunnan. Some time later, we will present another: the remains of Peking Man in Beijing's Zhoukoudian. All 21 sites are being actively promoted by the China State Tourism Administrative Bureau.
