Keep Loneliness Away

"EVERYTHING changed around me. No files to read, fewer telephone calls, and the children have left home to start their own families....I am left at home, with huge amounts of time and I wonder how I will ever be able to spend all the hours." This is what many elderly people say after retiring from their work. An answer to the problem was found by a group of retired women cadres, who once worked in the field of women's issues. They often say, "Don't allow yourself to be tied up by loneliness."

Sister Carrie is the masterpiece of Theodore Dreiser who adopted naturalism while creating this work and made contribution to the maturity of naturalism in America.Carrie,the main character of this novel,is not only successful but also controversial.Through a tentative analysis of Carrie’s experience,in particular,the influence of environmental factors and hereditary factors upon her,the author of this paper attempts to give some advice in the light of the universal social problems:the youth should be self-respected,self-confident and self-dependent enough to overcome the disadvantages that environmental factors and hereditary factors have brought them,so that they are qualified to be the masters of their own fate.

Dear Women of China,
I＇ll be studying Chinese in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, in the summer, but my school is rather small and doesn＇t have its own cafeteria or dining plan. Students have to purchase their meals or cook for themselves in their apartments. I know there will be restaurants nearby, but I want to save money instead of spending extra for meals.

Learning English to Welcome Olympics全国妇联机关开展"迎奥运、学英语、从我做起"活动Since its launch on September 14,the activity,with the theme"starting from me and learning English to welcome the Olympics,"has been helping the All-China Women's Federation(ACWF)staff members improve their English.The activity is part of the series of activities under the theme"Bringing English into Millions of Families."The flexible and diverse teaching methods of the ongoing activity have been stimulating participants'interest in learning English and their earnest to be involved in the Olympics.The teachers are from the International Department of the ACWF and the Women's Foreign Language Publications of China.
