In the fight against novel coronavirus disease(COVID-19),members of the China Female Artists Association are ever present.In response to the All-China Women's Federation(ACWF)'s initiative,the association called on all female painters to help share epidemic-prevention information with their brushes,to portray heroic models emerging in the prevention and control of the epidemic,and to inspire more women to contribute to the battle against COVID-19.

In the first part of this two part series on education, we looked at the ultimate purpose of education, the perhaps misguided over emphasis on choosing （or being accepted to） a particular college in the overall equation and the expanding role of technology （particularly the internet） in an increasingly globalized education community. My original intent was to use this month＇s column to wrap up the topic by discussing the pressure placed on young students the world over to go to the best high school, the best college, the best graduate school -- all in order to have the best possible life, whatever that is.     

The Story of Princess Wencheng A Folk Tale of the Tibetan Nationality

THE King of Tibet, Songtsan Gambo, was wise and capable. In order to make Tibet prosperous, he planned to marry Princess Wencheng of the Imperial Palace, who was both beautiful and kindhearted. He sent the resourceful Gawa to the Emperor to propose. In order to choose a satisfactory son-in-law among such a great number of suitors, the Emperor asked messengers to take part in a wisdom competition. He first asked the messengers to match the mares with their foals in a large herd. Of all the messengers, Gawa was the only one who passed this test. First he separated the mares from their foals and locked them into two paddocks. After half a day, he released the foals and herded them in with the mares. The hungry foals immediately ran to their mothers to suckle their milk. In this way it was easy to see who belonged to whom. After this test of wit the Emperor gave the messengers two more puzzles. The first one was to ask them to eat an entire sheep in one day, tan its hide, drink a jug of alcohol and walk bac

LONG long ago, Heavenly King Mu who ruled the Lijiang River intended to extend his kingdom. In order to occupy Yongning, a fertile land, he wrote to the king of the North (the North was inhabited by the Primmi and Naxi nationalities in Yongning) to propose a marriage between the two families. On the 50th birthday of Heavenly King Mu, his daughter, Princess Longnu (Dragon Daughter), fell in love with the Prince of the North, a kind and handsome young man. The Prince of the North and the Dragon Daughter were deeply attached to each other after their marriage. Before long the King of the North died and the prince became the new King. At 2,397 kilometers, the Beijing-Kowloon Railway is the shortest line from China's capital to Kowloon, Hong Kong SAR. On September 1, 1996, the No. 105 train made its debut at the Beijing West Railway Station and started to click along to the other terminal in Shenzhen. The All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF） and the National Working Committee on Children and Women （NWCCW） under the State Council plan to organize experts, who study laws and regulations, to study key and difficult issues related to the promotion of anti-domestic violence legislation. In conjunction with the 14th International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women （on November 25, 2013）, the organizations hosted a seminar to discuss anti-domestic violence legislation in Beijing. Organizers invited experts from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, China University of Political Science and Law, and the Women＇s Studies Institutes of China, to ACWF＇s headquarters to discuss issues related to the promotion of anti-domestic violence legislation.

LOCATED in Chun'an County, Zhejiang Province, Qiandao Lake (Lake of a Thousand Isles) is a state-level scenic spot and a bright pearl of the golden tourism line between Hangzhou's West Lake and Anhui's Huangshan Mountain. Brief Introduction to the China Organizing Committee for the Fourth World Conference on Women

On January 28, 1991, the Chinese Government wrote to the United Nations, offering to host the 1995 Fourth World Conference on Women. In March 1992, the 36th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women gratefully accepted the invitation of the Chinese government and decided to schedule the conference for September 4-15, 1995, in Beijing. The theme of the conference is to seek equality, development and peace through action. The secondary subjects include issues of employment, education and health. At that time, all the member countries of the United Nations will send the high-level gorernmental delegation to attend the conference. Meanwhile, the Non-Government Organizations Forum will be held as a subsidiary plenary to the conference. The year 1995 marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, the 2Oth anniversary of the UN International Women's Year and the lOth anniversary of the adoption of the Nairobi Strategy. I Attend the '95 NGO Forum on Women

Iarrived at the International Hotel a little too late to get onto the shuttle bus which had been designated to take participants to the NGO Forum site in Huairou. I stood at the front of the hotel and readily identified several other women who appeared to be in the same predicament. Quite resourceful, we quickly gathered into groups of three and made plans to share taxis out to the conference site. Meet the Parents

During the past 10 years that I have lived in China, nay parents have visited me once. As my family hails from a rural village （in southern Finland）, which is often -- accidentally -- left off of maps, it is stressful enough to make the weekly groteW shopping ride to the closest city, to say nothing of flying thousands of kilometers to a metropolis of millions to see their firstborn. One can only imagine how overwhelming a city like Beijing must be for someone whose highlight of the day is to pick up the mail -- my mother always gets a little too excited over the prospect of catching a glimpse of a neighbor on the way to the mailbox.

THE war left a deep impression on people. I was still a child then and what I remember most was fleeing from the war and the air raids. During the eight years of the war I went with my mother to Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Macao Guangxi, Yunnan and Guizhou. We fled to literally every part of the country in the south. Now and then I was able to go to school, but I never stayed in any one of them long before we had to flee again.
