In this paper, we introduce a bivariate Kumaraswamy (BVK) distribution whose marginals are Kumaraswamy distributions. The cumulative distribution function of this bivariate model has absolutely continuous and singular parts. Representations for the cumulative and density functions are presented and properties such as marginal and conditional distributions, product moments and conditional moments are obtained. We show that the BVK model can be obtained from the Marshall and Olkin survival copula and obtain a tail dependence measure. The estimation of the parameters by maximum likelihood is discussed and the Fisher information matrix is determined. We propose an EM algorithm to estimate the parameters. Some simulations are presented to verify the performance of the direct maximum-likelihood estimation and the proposed EM algorithm. We also present a method to generate bivariate distributions from our proposed BVK distribution. Furthermore, we introduce a BVK distribution which has only an absolutely continuous part and discuss some of its properties. Finally, a real data set is analysed for illustrative purposes.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A bivariate integer-valued autoregressive time series model is presented. The model structure is based on binomial thinning. The unconditional and conditional first and second moments are considered. Correlation structure of marginal processes is shown to be analogous to the ARMA(2, 1) model. Some estimation methods such as the Yule–Walker and conditional least squares are considered and the asymptotic distributions of the obtained estimators are derived. Comparison between bivariate model with binomial thinning and bivariate model with negative binomial thinning is given.  相似文献

The first known bivariate distribution with gamma and beta marginals is introduced. Various representations are derived for its joint probability density function (pdf), joint cumulative distribution function (cdf), product moments, conditional pdfs, conditional cdfs, conditional moments, joint moment generating function, joint characteristic function and entropies. The method of maximum likelihood and the method of moments are used to derive the associated estimation procedures as well as the Fisher information matrix, variance–covariance matrix and the profile likelihood confidence intervals. An application to drought data from Nebraska is provided. Some other applications are also discussed. Finally, an extension of the bivariate distribution to the multivariate case is proposed.  相似文献

Motivated by problems of modelling torsional angles in molecules, Singh, Hnizdo & Demchuk (2002) proposed a bivariate circular model which is a natural torus analogue of the bivariate normal distribution and a natural extension of the univariate von Mises distribution to the bivariate case. The authors present here a multivariate extension of the bivariate model of Singh, Hnizdo & Demchuk (2002). They study the conditional distributions and investigate the shapes of marginal distributions for a special case. The methods of moments and pseudo‐likelihood are considered for the estimation of parameters of the new distribution. The authors investigate the efficiency of the pseudo‐likelihood approach in three dimensions. They illustrate their methods with protein data of conformational angles  相似文献

Product moments of bivariate chi-square distribution have been derived in closed forms. Finite expressions have been derived for product moments of integer orders. Marginal and conditional distributions, conditional moments, coefficient of skewness and kurtosis of conditional distribution have also been discussed. Shannon entropy of the distribution is also derived. We also discuss the Bayesian estimation of a parameter of the distribution. Results match with the independent case when the variables are uncorrelated.  相似文献

The authors establish the joint distribution of the sum X and the maximum Y of IID exponential random variables. They derive exact formuli describing the random vector (X, Y), including its joint PDF, CDF, and other characteristics; marginal and conditional distributions; moments and related parameters; and stochastic representations leading to further properties of infinite divisibility and self-decomposability. The authors also discuss parameter estimation and include an example from climatology that illustrates the modeling potential of this new bivariate model.  相似文献

The joint distribution of the estimated variances from a correlated bivariate normal distribution has a long history. However, its joint probability density function, conditional moments and product moments are only known as infinite series. In this paper, simpler expressions, mostly finite sums of elementary functions, are derived for these properties. Expressions are also derived for the joint moment generating function and the joint characteristic function.  相似文献

Summary. Consider a pair of random variables, both subject to random right censoring. New estimators for the bivariate and marginal distributions of these variables are proposed. The estimators of the marginal distributions are not the marginals of the corresponding estimator of the bivariate distribution. Both estimators require estimation of the conditional distribution when the conditioning variable is subject to censoring. Such a method of estimation is proposed. The weak convergence of the estimators proposed is obtained. A small simulation study suggests that the estimators of the marginal and bivariate distributions perform well relatively to respectively the Kaplan–Meier estimator for the marginal distribution and the estimators of Pruitt and van der Laan for the bivariate distribution. The use of the estimators in practice is illustrated by the analysis of a data set.  相似文献

It is indicated to what extent the conditional normality of the distribution of one comnonent of a bivariate random vector given the value of the other component together with a restricted type of conditional normality or the marginal normality for the other component is equivalent to the bivariate normality of this random vector.  相似文献

This article describes two bivariate geometric distributions. We investigate characterizations of bivariate geometric distributions using conditional failure rates and study properties of the bivariate geometric distributions. The bivariate models are fitted to real-life data using the Method of Moments, Maximum Likelihood, and Bayes Estimators. Two methods of moments estimators, in each bivariate geometric model, are compared and evaluated for their performance in terms of bias vector and covariance matrix. This comparison is done through a Monte Carlo simulation. Chi-square goodness-of-fit tests are used to evaluate model performance.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new bivariate distribution, namely bivariate alpha-skew-normal distribution. The proposed distribution is very flexible and capable of generalizing the univariate alpha-skew-normal distribution as its marginal component distributions; it features a probability density function with up to two modes and has the bivariate normal distribution as a special case. The joint moment generating function as well as the main moments are provided. Inference is based on a usual maximum-likelihood estimation approach. The asymptotic properties of the maximum-likelihood estimates are verified in light of a simulation study. The usefulness of the new model is illustrated in a real benchmark data.  相似文献

Summary In this paper, we present a Bayesian analysis of the bivariate exponential distribution of Block and Basu (1974) assuming different prior densities for the parameters of the model and considering Laplace's method to obtain approximate marginal posterior and posterior moments of interest. We also find approximate Bayes estimators for the reliability of two-component systems at a specified timet 0 considering series and parallel systems. We illustrate the proposed methodology with a generated data set.  相似文献

Arnold and Strauss (1988) derived a family of bivariate life distributions having the property that the conditional distributions are exponential. Asymptotic distributions for the marginal and bivariate extremes for this family of distributions are derived employing the asymptotic theory of extreme order statistics.  相似文献

In this paper the most general bivariate distributions with second kind beta conditionals is fully characterized. This family is closed under inversions and the conditional moments are shown to be rational functions of the conditioned variable. Two subfamilies of dependent distributions is shown to have second kind beta marginals too. Finally, as a particular case, the most general bivariate distribution with second kind Pareto conditionals is characterized.  相似文献

Summary In the log-linear model for bivariate probability functions the conditional and joint probabilities have a simple form. This property make the log-linear parametrization useful when modeling these probabilities is the focus of the investigation. On the contrary, in the log-linear representation of bivariate probability functions, the marginal probabilities have a complex form. So the log-linear models are not useful when the marginal probabilities are of particular interest. In this paper the previous statements are discussed and a model obtained from the log-linear one by imposing suitable constraints on the marginal probabilities is introduced. The aim of this paper is to develop some bivariate generalizations of the Hofmann distribution. The Hofmann distribution is known to give nice fits for overdispersed data sets. Two bivariate models are proposed. Recursive formulae are given for the evaluation of the probability function. Moments, conditional distributions and marginal distributions are studied. Two data sets are fitted based on the proposed models. Parameters are estimated by maximum likelihood.  相似文献

This paper presents a simple procedure for estimating the parameters of bivariate discrete distributions. The procedure uses the marginal means and certain observed frequencies in one or more conditional distributions. The bivariate Poisson and Negative Binomial distributions are used as illustrative examples, Parameter estimators are derived and asymptotic efficiencies are examined for various parameter values.  相似文献

Fisher Information for Two Gamma Frailty Bivariate Weibull Models   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The asymptotic properties of frailty models for multivariate survival data are not well understood. To study this aspect, the Fisher information is derived in the standard bivariate gamma frailty model, where the survival distribution is of Weibull form conditional on the frailty. For comparison, the Fisher information is also derived in the bivariate gamma frailty model, where the marginal distribution is of Weibull form.  相似文献

A mixture model is proposed to analyze a bivariate interval censored data with cure rates. There exist two types of association related with bivariate failure times and bivariate cure rates, respectively. A correlation coefficient is adopted for the association of bivariate cure rates and a copula function is applied for bivariate survival times. The conditional expectation of unknown quantities attributable to interval censored data and cure rates are calculated in the E-step in ES (Expectation-Solving algorithm) and the marginal estimates and the association measures are estimated in the S-step through a two-stage procedure. A simulation study is performed to evaluate the suggested method and a real data from HIV patients is analyzed as a real data example.  相似文献

In this paper the relationship between joint density and conditional densities is studied. An explicit formula is given for obtaining the joint density from the conditional ones. It is illustrated for the case of bivariate normal distribution.  相似文献
