An algorithm is presented to construct balanced treatment incomplete block (BTIB) designs using a linear integer programming approach. Construction of BTIB designs using the proposed approach is illustrated with an example. A list of efficient BTIB designs for 2 ? v ? 12, v + 1 ? b ? 50, 2 ? k ? min(10, v), r ? 10, r0 ? 20 is provided. The proposed algorithm is implemented as part of an R package.  相似文献

In this article, we consider experimental situations in which m two-lever factors are to be studied using a two-level main effects plan involving n runs which are partitioned into b blocks of size k =?n/b. The m-associate triangular association scheme has been discussed, and several series of partially balanced incomplete block (PBIB) designs with m-associate triangular association scheme have been obtained in Section 1. In Section 2, an m-associate triangular-group divisible association scheme (TqGDm, 1<q<m) has been introduced and several series of PBIB designs with m-associate triangular group divisible association scheme, from m-associate triangular PBIB designs have been constructed. Some numerical values to the three associate triangular designs, and three associate triangular group divisible designs in the range b, v≦100; r, k≦10, with their average efficiencies are given, respectively, in Tables I and II, in Section 3, where as usual v denotes the number of treatments, b the number of blocks, r the number of replications of each treatment, and k the block size.  相似文献

The problem considered is that of finding D-optimal design for the estimation of covariate parameters and the treatment and block contrasts in a block design set up in the presence of non stochastic controllable covariates, when N = 2(mod 4), N being the total number of observations. It is clear that when N ≠ 0 (mod 4), it is not possible to find designs attaining minimum variance for the estimated covariate parameters. Conditions for D-optimum designs for the estimation of covariate parameters were established when each of the covariates belongs to the interval [?1, 1]. Some constructions of D-optimal design have been provided for symmetric balanced incomplete block design (SBIBD) with parameters b = v, r = k = v ? 1, λ =v ? 2 when k = 2 (mod 4) and b is an odd integer.  相似文献

Sufficient conditions are derived for the determination of E-optimal designs in the class D(v,b1,b2,k1,k2) of incomplete block designs for v treatments in b1 blocks of size k1 each and b2 blocks of size k2 each. Some constructions for E-optimal designs that satisfy the sufficient conditions obtained here are given. In particular, it is shown that E-optimal designs in D(v,b1,b2,k1,k2) can be constructed by augmenting b2 blocks, with k2k1 extra plots each, of a BIBD(v,b = b1 + b2,k1,λ) and GDD(v,b = b1 + b2,k1,λ1,λ2). It is also shown that equireplicate E-optimal designs in D(v,b1,b2,k1,k2) can be constructed by combining disjoint blocks of BIBD(v,b,k1,λ) and GDD(v,b,k1,λ1,λ2) into larger blocks. As applications of the construction techniques, several infinite series of E-optimal designs with small block sizes differing by at most two are given. Lower bounds for the A-efficiency are derived and it is found that A-efficiency exceeds 99% for v ⩾ 10, and at least 97.5% for 5 ⩽v < 10.  相似文献

The efficient design of experiments for comparing a control with v new treatments when the data are dependent is investigated. We concentrate on generalized least-squares estimation for a known covariance structure. We consider block sizes k equal to 3 or 4 and approximate designs. This method may lead to exact optimal designs for some v, b, k, but usually will only indicate the structure of an efficient design for any particular v, b, k, and yield an efficiency bound, usually unattainable. The bound and the structure can then be used to investigate efficient finite designs.  相似文献

Consider an incomplete block experiment in which observations are taken from t treatments using an incomplete block design with b blocks of size k < t. Suppose the interest is in estimating the differences of effects of successive treatments. This may occur, for example, if the treatments are different dosages or concentrations of a compound. This article presents A-optimal and MV-optimal incomplete block designs for estimating the the differences of successive treatment effects. This article proposes an algorithm to construct efficient balanced multi-level k-circulant supersaturated designs with m factors and n runs. The algorithm generates efficient balanced multi-level k-circulant supersaturated designs very fast. Using the proposed algorithm many balanced multi-level supersaturated designs are constructed and cataloged. A list of many optimal and near optimal, multi-level supersaturated designs is also provided for m ≤ 60 and number of levels (q) ≤10. The algorithm can be used to generate two-level k-circulant supersaturated designs also and some large optimal two-level supersaturated designs are presented. An upper bound to the number of factors in a balanced multi-level supersaturated design such that no two columns are fully aliased is also provided.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the construction of optimal blocked main effects designs where m two-level factors are to be studied in N runs which are partitioned into b blocks of equal size. For N ≡ 2±od4 sufficient conditions are derived for a design to be Φ f optimal among all designs having main effects occurring equally often at their high and low levels within blocks and then this result is extended to the class of all designs for the case when the block size is two. A new exchange algorithm for the construction of (M, S)-optimal incomplete block designs (IBDS) is developed. This exchange algorithm is used to construct 973 (M, S)-optimal IBDs (v, k, b) for v= 4,…,12 (varieties) with arbitrary v, k (block size) and b (number of blocks). The efficiencies of the “best” (M, S)-optimal IBDs constructed by this algorithm are compared with the efficiencies of the corresponding nearly balanced incomplete block designs (NBIBDs) of Cheng(1979), Cheng & Wu (1981) and Mitchell & John(1976).  相似文献

A generalization of the test to the case of unequal design points, with different sample sizes {n l } l=1 k and different design densities {f l } l=1 k , is also considered. In this paper we study the class of augmented balanced incomplete block designs, which are used for comparing a control treatment with a set of test treatments. Under the A- criterion we establish a condition that enables us to determine the most efficient augmented design and we suggest some methods to compute a lower bound for the efficiency of these designs. For 3≤k≤10, vk, we list the parameters of the most efficient designs with a lower bound for their efficiency or, if known, mention their optimality.  相似文献

A new series of multi-factor balanced block designs is introduced. Each of these designs has the following properties: (i) each of its k– 1 treatment factors is disposed in a cyclic or multi-cyclic balanced incomplete block design with parameters (v,b,r,k,Λ) = (a(k-l) + 1,a2(k-1) +a, ak, k, k) (a > 1); (ii) the incidence of any one of the treatment factors on any other is balanced; and (iii) after adjustment for blocks only, the relationship between any two of the treatment factors is that of adjusted orthogonality. The treatment factors are thus orthogonal to one another in the within-blocks stratum of the analysis of variance. The designs provide a benchmark with which other designs may be compared.  相似文献

The set of distinct blocks of a block design is known as its support. We construct complete designs with parameters v(?7), k=3, λ=v ? 2 which contain a block of maximal multiplicity and with support size b1 = (v3) ? 4(v ? 2). Any complete design which contains such a block, and has parameters v, k, λ as above, must be supported on at most (v3) ? 4(v ? 2) blocks. For measuring the goodness of 2 m 41 designs, Wu and Zhang (1993) proposed the minimum aberration (MA) criterion. MA 2 m 41 designs have been constructed using the idea of complementary designs when the number of two-level factors, m, exceeds n/2, where n is the total number of runs. In this paper, the structures of MA 2 m 41 designs are obtained when m>5n/16. Based on these structures, some methods are developed for constructing MA 2 m 41 designs for 5n/16<m<n/2 as well as for n/2≤m<n. When m≤5n/16, there is no general method for constructing MA 2 m 41 designs. In this case, we obtain lower bounds for A 30 and A 31, where A 30 and A 31 are the numbers of type 0 and type 1 words with length three respectively. And a method for constructing weak minimum aberration (WMA) 2 m 41 designs (A 30 and A 31 achieving the lower bounds) is demonstrated. Some MA or WMA 2 m 41 designs with 32 or 64 runs are tabulated for practical use, which supplement the tables in Wu and Zhang (1993), Zhang and Shao (2001) and Mukerjee and Wu (2001).  相似文献

Polygonal designs are useful in survey sampling in terms of balanced sampling plans excluding contiguous units (BSECs) and balanced sampling plans excluding adjacent units (BSAs). In this article, the method of cyclic shifts has been used for the construction of cyclic polygonal designs (in terms of BSAs) with block size k = 3 and λ = 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12 for joint distance α = 2 and 51 new designs for treatments v ≤ 100 are given.  相似文献

Abstract

We study optimal block designs for comparing a set of test treatments with a control treatment. We provide the class of all E-optimal approximate block designs, which is characterized by simple linear constraints. Based on this characterization, we obtain a class of E-optimal exact designs for unequal block sizes. In the studied model, we provide a statistical interpretation for wide classes of E-optimal designs. Moreover, we show that all approximate A-optimal designs and a large class of A-optimal exact designs for treatment-control comparisons are also R-optimal. This reinforces the observation that A-optimal designs perform well even for rectangular confidence regions.  相似文献

Recursive formulae for constructing block designs with dependent errors . Biometrika 79 : 426430 .[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) have been modified and used for searching efficient block designs for making all possible pairwise treatment comparisons when observations are dependent. The lower bounds to the A- and D-efficiencies of the designs in a given class of the designs have been obtained for correlated observation structure and the procedure of computing lower bounds to A- and D-efficiencies has been incorporated in the algorithm. The algorithm has been translated into a computer program using Microsoft Visual C++. Using this program, a search for efficient designs for making all possible pairwise treatment comparisons has been made for v ≤ 10, b ≤ 33, k ≤ 10 such that bk ≤ 100 and v > k. The block designs considered are usual block designs (rectangular block designs) and circular block designs. Nearest neighbor (NN), autoregressive of order 1 (AR(1)) correlation structures are studied. The ranges of correlation coefficients for different correlation structures investigated are |ρ|≤0.50 for NN correlation structure in rectangular blocks, |ρ|≤0.45 for NN correlation structure in circular blocks, and |ρ|≤0.95 for AR(1) correlation structure. For these ranges, the matrix of correlation coefficients among observations within a block is positive definite. Robustness aspects of designs that are efficient for a given value of correlation have been investigated against other values of correlation coefficients. Robustness aspects of designs that are efficient for independent observations have also been studied for experimental situations with dependent observations.  相似文献
