On the Relationship between Globalization and Modernity

Discussions on globalization have been lively since the middle of 1990s. They have replaced, to a certain degree, past contentions on modernity and post-modernity to emerge as a hot topic in the mainstream world of learning. What then is the relationship between globalization and modernity? There are now three different viewpoints on this question in academic circles:
