The authors consider the multivariate one-sample location problem with clustered data from a nonparametric viewpoint. They propose the spatial median and its affine equivariant version as companion estimators to the affine invariant sign test of Larocque (2003). They extend the asymptotics of the proposed estimators to cluster dependent data and explore the limiting as well as finite-sample efficiencies for multivariate Student distributions. They demonstrate that the efficiency of the spatial median suffers less from intracluster correlation than the mean vector. They use data on the well-being of pupils in Finnish schools to illustrate their work.  相似文献

Across a variety of clinical settings, repeated measurements on an individual, obtained under identical circumstances, often differ from one another. This implies the measurements lack perfect reproducibility. Topics related to reproducibility of clinical measurements are introduced in this paper. In this first of two parts, continuous outcomes are addressed. The intraclass correlation coefficient, ρ, has been the traditional coefficient of reproducibility for continuous outcomes. The importance of ρ regarding observations on an individual, and observations among populations, is outlined. The aim of this paper is to find an optimal alternative bivariate ranked-set sample for one-sample location model bivariate sign test. Our numerical and theoretical results indicated that the optimal designs for the bivariate sign test are the alternative designs with quantifying order statistics with labels {((r+1)/2, (r+1)/2)}, when the set size r is odd and {(r/2+1, r/2), (r/2, r/2+1)} when the set size r is even. The asymptotic distribution and Pitman efficiencies of these designs are derived. A simulation study is conducted to investigate the power of the proposed optimal designs. Illustration using real data with the Bootstrap algorithm for P-value estimation is used.  相似文献

The authors propose the use of self‐modelling regression to analyze longitudinal data with time invariant covariates. They model the population time curve with a penalized regression spline and use a linear mixed model for transformation of the time and response scales to fit the individual curves. Fitting is done by an iterative algorithm using off‐the‐shelf linear and nonlinear mixed model software. Their method is demonstrated in a simulation study and in the analysis of tree swallow nestling growth from an experiment that includes an experimentally controlled treatment, an observational covariate and multi‐level sampling.  相似文献

The authors show how to test the goodness‐of‐fit of a linear regression model when there are missing data in the response variable. Their statistics are based on the L2 distance between nonparametric estimators of the regression function and a ‐consistent estimator of the same function under the parametric model. They obtain the limit distribution of the statistics and check the validity of their bootstrap version. Finally, a simulation study allows them to examine the behaviour of their tests, whether the samples are complete or not.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose and study a new global test, namely, GPF test, for the one‐way anova problem for functional data, obtained via globalizing the usual pointwise F‐test. The asymptotic random expressions of the test statistic are derived, and its asymptotic power is investigated. The GPF test is shown to be root‐n consistent. It is much less computationally intensive than a parametric bootstrap test proposed in the literature for the one‐way anova for functional data. Via some simulation studies, it is found that in terms of size‐controlling and power, the GPF test is comparable with two existing tests adopted for the one‐way anova problem for functional data. A real data example illustrates the GPF test.  相似文献

This article considers a circular regression model for clustered data, where both the cluster effects and the regression errors have von Mises distributions. It involves β, a vector of parameters for the fixed effects, and two concentration parameters for the error distribution. A measure of intra‐cluster circular correlation and a predictor for an unobserved cluster random effect are studied. Preliminary estimators for the vector β and the two concentration parameters are proposed, and their performance is compared with that of the maximum likelihood estimators in a simulation study. A numerical example investigating the factors impacting the orientation taken by a sand hopper when released is presented. A cancer clinical trial with an immunotherapy often has 2 special features, which are patients being potentially cured from the cancer and the immunotherapy starting to take clinical effect after a certain delay time. Existing testing methods may be inadequate for immunotherapy clinical trials, because they do not appropriately take the 2 features into consideration at the same time, hence have low power to detect the true treatment effect. In this paper, we proposed a piece‐wise proportional hazards cure rate model with a random delay time to fit data, and a new weighted log‐rank test to detect the treatment effect of an immunotherapy over a chemotherapy control. We showed that the proposed weight was nearly optimal under mild conditions. Our simulation study showed a substantial gain of power in the proposed test over the existing tests and robustness of the test with misspecified weight. We also introduced a sample size calculation formula to design the immunotherapy clinical trials using the proposed weighted log‐rank test.  相似文献
