Let X be a po-normal random vector with unknown µ and unknown covariance matrix ∑ and let X be partitioned as X = (X (1), …, X (r))′ where X(j)is a subvector of X with dimension pjsuch that ∑r j=1Pj = P0. Some admissible tests are derived for testing H0: μ = 0 versus H1: μ ¦0 based on a sample drawn from the whole vector X of dimension p and r additional samples drawn from X(1), X(2), …, X(r) respectively, All (r+1) samples are assumed to be independent. The distribution of some of the tests' statistics involved are also derived.  相似文献

Let X 1, X 2, ... be a sequence of i.i.d. random variables, X i∼ F θ, θ∈Θ. Let N 1 and N 2 be two stopping rules. For a class of exponential families { F θ: θ∈Θ} we show that the experiment Y 1 = ( X 1, ..., X N1) carries more statistical information than Y 2 = ( X 1, ..., x N2) only if N 1 is stochastically larger then N 2  相似文献

This paper considers the finite integral moments for the ratio, R = X/Y, where X and Y re correlated gamma distributed variables. An analytical and numerical comparison is given for two classes of underlying bivariate gamma distributions. It is shown that the two bivariate gamma structures provide indentical experessions for the mth unadjussted moment, E(Rm), if and only if either of the following conditions hold : 1) X and Y are uncorrelated of 2) m=1. A numerical evaluation is performed to determine the extent that the two methods differ whenever the variables are correlated  相似文献

Let Y 1, . . ., Yn denote independent random variables such that Yj has a one-parameter exponential family distribution with canonical parameter θ j =λ+ψ Xj ; here X 1, . . ., Xn are known constants. Consider a test of the null hypothesis ψ=0. Under the null hypothesis, A =Σ Yj is sufficient for λ and, hence, a test of ψ=0 may be based on the conditional distribution of T =Σ Xj Yj given A , which is independent of λ. In this paper, the effects of overdispersion due to a mixture model on the conditional distribution of T given A are considered.  相似文献

There are numerous situations in categorical data analysis where one wishes to test hypotheses involving a set of linear inequality constraints placed upon the cell probabilities. For example, it may be of interest to test for symmetry in k × k contingency tables against one-sided alternatives. In this case, the null hypothesis imposes a set of linear equalities on the cell probabilities (namely pij = Pji ×i > j), whereas the alternative specifies directional inequalities. Another important application (Robertson, Wright, and Dykstra 1988) is testing for or against stochastic ordering between the marginals of a k × k contingency table when the variables are ordinal and independence holds. Here we extend existing likelihood-ratio results to cover more general situations. To be specific, we consider testing Ht,0 against H1 - H0 and H1 against H2 - H 1 when H0:k × i=1 pixji = 0, j = 1,…, s, H1:k × i=1 pixji × 0, j = 1,…, s, and does not impose any restrictions on p. The xji's are known constants, and s × k - 1. We show that the asymptotic distributions of the likelihood-ratio tests are of chi-bar-square type, and provide expressions for the weighting values.  相似文献

Let H ( p ) be the set { x ∈ X : h ( x ) ≤ p } where h is a real-valued lower semicontinuous function on a locally compact separable metric space X . This paper presents a general limit theorem for the sequence of random sets H n ( p ) = { x ∈ X : h n ( x ) ≤ p } n ≥ 1, where h n , n ≥ 1, are functions that estimate h  相似文献

Summary.  For a binary treatment ν =0, 1 and the corresponding 'potential response' Y 0 for the control group ( ν =0) and Y 1 for the treatment group ( ν =1), one definition of no treatment effect is that Y 0 and Y 1 follow the same distribution given a covariate vector X . Koul and Schick have provided a non-parametric test for no distributional effect when the realized response (1− ν ) Y 0+ ν Y 1 is fully observed and the distribution of X is the same across the two groups. This test is thus not applicable to censored responses, nor to non-experimental (i.e. observational) studies that entail different distributions of X across the two groups. We propose ' X -matched' non-parametric tests generalizing the test of Koul and Schick following an idea of Gehan. Our tests are applicable to non-experimental data with randomly censored responses. In addition to these motivations, the tests have several advantages. First, they have the intuitive appeal of comparing all available pairs across the treatment and control groups, instead of selecting a number of matched controls (or treated) in the usual pair or multiple matching. Second, whereas most matching estimators or tests have a non-overlapping support (of X ) problem across the two groups, our tests have a built-in protection against the problem. Third, Gehan's idea allows the tests to make good use of censored observations. A simulation study is conducted, and an empirical illustration for a job training effect on the duration of unemployment is provided.  相似文献

Let X and Y be independent and identically distributed random variables having a continuous distribution function. We study new consistent tests for symmetry around a known median based on the fact that the distribution of X is symmetric around 0 if, and only if, |X| and |max(X,Y)| have the same distribution.  相似文献

Let X = (X1, - Xp)prime; ˜ Np (μ, Σ) where μ= (μ1, -, μp)' and Σ= diag (Σ21, -, Σ2p) are both unknown and p3. Let (ni - 2) wi2i! X2ni, independent. of wi (I ≠ j = 1, -, p). Assume that (w1, -, wp) and X are independent. Define W = diag (w1, -, wp) and ¶ X ¶2w= X'W-1Q-1W-1X where Q = diag (q1, -,n qp), qi > 0, i = 1, -, p. In this paper, the minimax estimator of Berger & Bock (1976), given by δ (X, W) = [Ip - r(X, W) ¶ X ¶-2w Q-1W-1] X, is shown to be minimax relative to the convex loss (δ - μ)'[αQ + (1 - α) Σ-1] δ - μ)/C, where C =α tr (Σ) + (1 - α)p and 0 α 1, under certain conditions on r(X, W). This generalizes the above mentioned result of Berger & Bock.  相似文献

Let T, X and Y be non-negative random variables, where T is the time of occurrence of an event of interest, X and Y being the lefl and right censoring variables respectively.

In this paper we propose a nonparametric estimator of the survival function, ST, when T, X and Y are supposed to be independent and their corresponding hazard rates are proportionally related. In this way, our results extend Ebrahimi's work (1985) to the doubly censored data case.  相似文献

In comparing several regressions E(yij) =αi + βixij i = 1, 2, ..., k, j = 1,2, ..., ni, researchers are generally interested in the following five problems: whether they have (1) equal slope, (2) equal intercept, (3) coincidence, (4) common intersection on X-axis, and (5) common intersection on (X,Y) - plane. Problems (1) - (3) can be put into the framework of the general linear hypothesis and the F-test can be used. However, problems (4) and (5) cannot be put into the general linear hypothesis because they are ratios of parameters. Hence, in this paper we consider the generalized likelihood ratio test for hypothesis testing. An application to an enzyme kinetics problem in Aniline Metabolism is demonstrated  相似文献

Let Y1,…,Y n, (Y1 <Y2<…<Y n) be the order statistics of a random sample from a distribution F with density f on the realline. This paper gives a class of estimators of the derivativef'(x) of the density f at points x for which f has

Let X, Y and Z be independent random variables with common unknown distribution F. Using the Dirichlet process prior for F and squared erro loss function, the Bayes and empirical Bayes estimators of the parameters λ(F). the probability that Z > X + Y, are derived. The limiting Bayes estimator of λ(F) under some conditions on the parameter of the process is shown to be asymptotically normal. The aysmptotic optimality of the empirical Bayes estimator of λ(F) is established. When X, Y and Z have support on the positive real line, these results are derived for randomly right censored data. This problem relates to testing whether than used discussed by Hollander and Proshcan (1972) and Chen, Hollander and Langberg (1983).  相似文献

Non-parametric Regression with Dependent Censored Data   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Abstract.  Let ( X i , Y i ) ( i = 1 ,…, n ) be n replications of a random vector ( X , Y  ), where Y is supposed to be subject to random right censoring. The data ( X i , Y i ) are assumed to come from a stationary α -mixing process. We consider the problem of estimating the function m ( x ) = E ( φ ( Y ) |  X = x ), for some known transformation φ . This problem is approached in the following way: first, we introduce a transformed variable     , that is not subject to censoring and satisfies the relation     , and then we estimate m ( x ) by applying local linear regression techniques. As a by-product, we obtain a general result on the uniform rate of convergence of kernel type estimators of functionals of an unknown distribution function, under strong mixing assumptions.  相似文献

Let X =(x)ij=(111, …, X,)T, i = l, …n, be an n X random matrix having multivariate symmetrical distributions with parameters μ, Σ. The p-variate normal with mean μ and covariance matrix is a member of this family. Let be the squared multiple correlation coefficient between the first and the succeeding p1 components, and let p2 = + be the squared multiple correlation coefficient between the first and the remaining p1 + p2 =p – 1 components of the p-variate normal vector. We shall consider here three testing problems for multivariate symmetrical distributions. They are (A) to test p2 =0 against; (B) to test against =0, 0; (C) to test against p2 =0, We have shown here that for problem (A) the uniformly most powerful invariant (UMPI) and locally minimax test for the multivariate normal is UMPI and is locally minimax as p2 0 for multivariate symmetrical distributions. For problem (B) the UMPI and locally minimax test is UMPI and locally minimax as for multivariate symmetrical distributions. For problem (C) the locally best invariant (LBI) and locally minimax test for the multivariate normal is also LBI and is locally minimax as for multivariate symmetrical distributions.  相似文献

Let X1, X2,…,Xn be independent, indentically distributed random variables with density f(x,θ) with respect to a σ-finite measure μ. Let R be a measurable set in the sample space X. The value of X is observable if X ? (X?R) and not otherwise. The number J of observable X’s is binomial, N, Q, Q = 1?P(X ? R). On the basis of J observations, it is desired to estimate N and θ. Estimators considered are conditional and unconditional maximum likelihood and modified maximum likelihood using a prior weight function to modify the likelihood before maximizing. Asymptotic expansions are developed for the [Ncirc]’s of the form [Ncirc] = N + α√N + β + op(1), where α and β are random variables. All estimators have the same α, which has mean 0, variance σ2 (a function of θ) and is asymptotically normal. Hence all are asymptotically equivalent by the usual limit distributional theory. The β’s differ and Eβ can be considered an “asymptotic bias”. Formulas are developed to compare the asymptotic biases of the various estimators. For a scale parameter family of absolutely continuous distributions with X = (0,∞) and R = (T,∞), special formuli are developed and a best estimator is found.  相似文献

Let X and Y be two arbitrary k-dimensional discrete random vectors, for k ≥ 1. We prove that there exists a coupling method which minimizes P( X ≠ Y ). This result is used to find the least upper bound for the metric d( X, Y ) = supA|P( X ∈ A ) ? P( Y ∈ A )| and to derive the inequality d(Σ X i, Σ Y i) ≤ Σd( X i, Y i). We thus obtain a unified method to measure the disparity between the distributions of sums of independent random vectors. Several examples are given.  相似文献

In this paper a new family of test statistics is presented for testing the independence between the binary response Y and an ordered categorical explanatory variable X (doses) against the alternative hypothesis of an increase dose-response relationship between a response variable Y and X (doses). The properties of these test statistics are studied. This new family of test statistics is based on the family of φ-divergence measures and contains as a particular case the likelihood ratio test. We pay special attention to the family of test statistics associated with the power divergence family. A simulation study is included in order to analyze the behavior of the power divergence family of test statistics.  相似文献
