We propose linear and nonlinear wavelet-based hazard rate estimators where the linear estimator is equivalent to a generalized kernel estimator. An asymptotic formula for the mean integrated squared error (MISE) of the nonlinear wavelet-based hazard rate estimator is provided. It is shown that the MISE formula for the nonlinear estimator is available for hazard rates which are smooth only in a piecewise sense, a feature not available for the kernel estimators.  相似文献

In this paper, we define the nonlinear wavelet estimator of density for the right censoring model with the censoring indicator missing at random (MAR), and develop its asymptotic expression for mean integrated squared error (MISE). Unlike for kernel estimator, the MISE expression of the estimator is not affected by the presence of discontinuities in the curve. Meanwhile, asymptotic normality of the estimator is established. The proposed estimator can reduce to the estimator defined by Li [Non-linear wavelet-based density estimators under random censorship. J Statist Plann Inference. 2003;117(1):35–58] when the censoring indicator MAR does not occur and a bandwidth in non-parametric estimation is close to zero. Also, we define another two nonlinear wavelet estimators of the density. A simulation is done to show the performance of the three proposed estimators.  相似文献

Wavelet analysis has been proved to be a powerful statistical technique in the non parametric regression. In this paper, we propose non linear wavelet-based estimators for multivariable mean regression function with long-memory data. We also provide an asymptotic expansion for the mean integrated squared error (MISE) of the function estimators. This MISE expansion still works even when the underlying mean regression function is only piecewise smooth. This paper extends the corresponding results in the literature for single variable to multivariable case.  相似文献

In this work, we develop a method of adaptive non‐parametric estimation, based on ‘warped’ kernels. The aim is to estimate a real‐valued function s from a sample of random couples (X,Y). We deal with transformed data (Φ(X),Y), with Φ a one‐to‐one function, to build a collection of kernel estimators. The data‐driven bandwidth selection is performed with a method inspired by Goldenshluger and Lepski (Ann. Statist., 39, 2011, 1608). The method permits to handle various problems such as additive and multiplicative regression, conditional density estimation, hazard rate estimation based on randomly right‐censored data, and cumulative distribution function estimation from current‐status data. The interest is threefold. First, the squared‐bias/variance trade‐off is automatically realized. Next, non‐asymptotic risk bounds are derived. Lastly, the estimator is easily computed, thanks to its simple expression: a short simulation study is presented.  相似文献

The additive risk model provides an alternative modelling technique for failure time data to the proportional hazards model. In this article, we consider the additive risk model with a nonparametric risk effect. We study estimation of the risk function and its derivatives with a parametric and an unspecified baseline hazard function respectively. The resulting estimators are the local likelihood and the local score estimators. We establish the asymptotic normality of the estimators and show that both methods have the same formula for asymptotic bias but different formula for variance. It is found that, in some special cases, the local score estimator is of the same efficiency as the local likelihood estimator though it does not use the information about the baseline hazard function. Another advantage of the local score estimator is that it has a closed form and is easy to implement. Some simulation studies are conducted to evaluate and compare the performance of the two estimators. A numerical example is used for illustration.  相似文献

We study the detailed structure (in a large sample) of the self-consistent estimators of the survival functions with doubly censored data. We also introduce the kernel-type density estimators based on the self-consistent estimators, and using our results on the structure of the self-consistent estimators, we establish the strong uniform consistency and the asymptotic normality of the kernel density estimators for doubly censored data. From these, the strong uniform consistency and the asymptotic normality of the failure rate estimators for doubly censored data are derived.  相似文献

Abstract

An exact, closed form, and easy to compute expression for the mean integrated squared error (MISE) of a kernel estimator of a normal mixture cumulative distribution function is derived for the class of arbitrary order Gaussian-based kernels. Comparisons are made with MISE of the empirical distribution function, the infeasible minimum MISE, and the uniform kernel. A simple plug-in method of simultaneously selecting the optimal bandwidth and kernel order is proposed based on a non asymptotic approximation of the unknown distribution by a normal mixture. A simulation study shows that the method provides a viable alternative to existing bandwidth selection procedures.  相似文献

In this paper, we are concerned with nonparametric estimation of the density and the failure rate functions of a random variable X which is at risk of being censored. First, we establish the asymptotic normality of a kernel density estimator in a general censoring setup. Then, we apply our result in order to derive the asymptotic normality of both the density and the failure rate estimators in the cases of right, twice and doubly censored data. Finally, the performance and the asymptotic Gaussian behaviour of the studied estimators, based on either doubly or twice censored data, are illustrated through a simulation study.  相似文献

We propose a new method to estimate the cumulative hazard function and the corresponding distribution function of survival times under randomly left-truncated and right-censored observations (LTRC). The new estimators are based on presmoothing ideas, the estimation of the conditional expectation m of the censoring indicator. An almost sure representation for both estimators is established, from which a strong consistency rate and asymptotic normality are derived. It is shown that the presmoothed modification leads to a gain in terms of asymptotic mean squared error. This efficiency with respect to the classical estimators is also shown in a simulation study. Finally, an application to a real data set is provided.  相似文献

In some long-term studies, a series of dependent and possibly censored failure times may be observed. Suppose that the failure times have a common continuous distribution function F. A popular stochastic measure of the distance between the density function f of the failure times and its kernel estimate f n is the integrated square error(ISE). In this article, we derive a central limit theorem for the integrated square error of the kernel density estimators under a censored dependent model.  相似文献

Problems with censored data arise quite frequently in reliability applications. Estimation of the reliability function is usually of concern. Reliability function estimators proposed by Kaplan and Meier (1958), Breslow (1972), are generally used when dealing with censored data. These estimators have the known properties of being asymptotically unbiased, uniformly strongly consistent, and weakly convergent to the same Gaussian process, when properly normalized. We study the properties of the smoothed Kaplan-Meier estimator with a suitable kernel function in this paper. The smooth estimator is compared with the Kaplan-Meier and Breslow estimators for large sample sizes giving an exact expression for an appropriately normalized difference of the mean square error (MSE) of the two estimators. This quantifies the deficiency of the Kaplan-Meier estimator in comparison to the smoothed version. We also obtain a non-asymptotic bound on an expected 1-type error under weak conditions. Some simulations are carried out to examine the performance of the suggested method.  相似文献

This work concerns the estimation of a smooth survival function based on doubly censored data. We establish strong consistency and asymptotic normality for a kernel estimator. Moreover, we also obtain an asymptotic expression for the mean integrated squared error, which yields an optimum bandwidth in terms of readily estimable quantities.  相似文献

A criterion for choosing an estimator in a family of semi-parametric estimators from incomplete data is proposed. This criterion is the expected observed log-likelihood (ELL). Adapted versions of this criterion in case of censored data and in presence of explanatory variables are exhibited. We show that likelihood cross-validation (LCV) is an estimator of ELL and we exhibit three bootstrap estimators. A simulation study considering both families of kernel and penalized likelihood estimators of the hazard function (indexed on a smoothing parameter) demonstrates good results of LCV and a bootstrap estimator called ELLbboot . We apply the ELLbboot criterion to compare the kernel and penalized likelihood estimators to estimate the risk of developing dementia for women using data from a large cohort study.  相似文献

Summary.  We consider an extension of conventional univariate Kaplan–Meier-type estimators for the hazard rate and the survivor function to multivariate censored data with a censored random regressor. It is an Akritas-type estimator which adapts the non-parametric conditional hazard rate estimator of Beran to more typical data situations in applied analysis. We show with simulations that the estimator has nice finite sample properties and our implementation appears to be fast. As an application we estimate non-parametric conditional quantile functions with German administrative unemployment duration data.  相似文献

We study the asymptotic behavior of one-step M-estimators based on not necessarily independent identically distributed observations. In particular, we find conditions for asymptotic normality of these estimators. Asymptotic normality of one-step M-estimators is proven under a wide spectrum of constraints on the exactness of initial estimators. We discuss the question of minimal restrictions on the exactness of initial estimators. We also discuss the asymptotic behavior of the solution to an M-equation closest to the parameter under consideration. As an application, we consider some examples of one-step approximation of quasi-likelihood estimators in nonlinear regression.  相似文献

In this article, we study the asymptotic properties of the kernel estimator of the mode and density function when the data are twice censored. More specifically, we first establish a strong uniform consistency over a compact set with a rate of the kernel density estimator and then we give the consistency with rate and asymptotic normality for the kernel mode estimator. An application to confidence bands is given.  相似文献

We apply the Abramson principle to define adaptive kernel estimators for the intensity function of a spatial point process. We derive asymptotic expansions for the bias and variance under the regime that n independent copies of a simple point process in Euclidean space are superposed. The method is illustrated by means of a simple example and applied to tornado data.  相似文献

This paper describes a wavelet method for the estimation of density and hazard rate functions from randomly right-censored data. We adopt a nonparametric approach in assuming that the density and hazard rate have no specific parametric form. The method is based on dividing the time axis into a dyadic number of intervals and then counting the number of events within each interval. The number of events and the survival function of the observations are then separately smoothed over time via linear wavelet smoothers, and then the hazard rate function estimators are obtained by taking the ratio. We prove that the estimators have pointwise and global mean-square consistency, obtain the best possible asymptotic mean integrated squared error convergence rate and are also asymptotically normally distributed. We also describe simulation experiments that show that these estimators are reasonably reliable in practice. The method is illustrated with two real examples. The first uses survival time data for patients with liver metastases from a colorectal primary tumour without other distant metastases. The second is concerned with times of unemployment for women and the wavelet estimate, through its flexibility, provides a new and interesting interpretation.  相似文献

Summary.  A representation is developed that expresses the bivariate survivor function as a function of the hazard function for truncated failure time variables. This leads to a class of nonparametric survivor function estimators that avoid negative mass. The transformation from hazard function to survivor function is weakly continuous and compact differentiable, so that such properties as strong consistency, weak convergence to a Gaussian process and bootstrap applicability for a hazard function estimator are inherited by the corresponding survivor function estimator. The set of point mass assignments for a survivor function estimator is readily obtained by using a simple matrix calculation on the set of hazard rate estimators. Special cases arise from a simple empirical hazard rate estimator, and from an empirical hazard rate estimator following the redistribution of singly censored observations within strips. The latter is shown to equal van der Laan's repaired nonparametric maximum likelihood estimator, for which a Greenwood-like variance estimator is given. Simulation studies are presented to compare the moderate sample performance of various nonparametric survivor function estimators.  相似文献

The regression model suggested by Cox (1972) has been widely used in survival analysis with censored observations. We propose isotonic window estimators for a monotone baseline hazard function in the Cox regression model. We prove that these estimators are asymptotically normal. The simulati on results presented in the article suggest that the proposed estimator performs better than several existing estimators in the literature  相似文献
