In this paper, I focus on the British future from Brexit. The institutional form this will take is not yet fixed. However, one can consider likely outcomes based on dominant economic frameworks. From this perspective, it seems unlikely that Brexit will address the actual grievances that resulted in Brexit. These transcend European Union membership.  相似文献

THE Wuling Mountains in Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan and Guizhou provinces are abundant and beautiful Set in isolation, the Tujia people have lived hvre generation after generation. This is my hometown. In the summer of 1994, I returned home after having left to attend college in Beijing five years before. Homesick loneliness called me back to my home in Shizhu County, Sichuan Province.  相似文献

Building on the textually (Dolven), temporally (Salamon) and topographically (Webster) illuminated analyses of Vanessa Place’s Rape Jokes, this piece articulates the “rationally” contrarian ethics of the real (gendered body) dummified in her reiterative metapoetic practice by critically exploring its communicative potentials as well as its radically composed platform itself.  相似文献

Foundations’ capacity‐building grant programs strive to bolster performance and outcomes for their nonprofit grantees. Yet with few outcome evaluations of such programs, we have limited understanding of whether these capacity‐building efforts achieve their intended result. This study evaluates fifteen years of data for one foundation's capacity‐building grant program to understand whether targeted capacity building for financial management and development contributes to nonprofit financial growth. The authors examine the management–performance link in this context and inform sector leaders who dedicate resources to capacity‐building programs about the outcomes of these efforts.  相似文献

Why do some U.S. states have higher levels of marital formation than others? This paper introduces an economic model wherein a state’s representative individual may choose to marry in order to diversify his or her idiosyncratic income risk. The paper demonstrates that such a diversification motive is enhanced for some utility functions when a state’s level of undiversifiable risk becomes larger, and when a state’s initial income is lower. A test of the model’s predictions, using cross-sectional data for the 50 U.S. states, provides some suggestive evidence for a risk sharing motive in marriage formation and joint spouse labor participation.  相似文献

POVERTY is always a concern of China's government and people. In 1978, there were 699 impoverished counties in the whole country with a population of about one quarter of a billion, which was concentrated in the middle and western areas of China. These included remote mountainous areas, stone mountain areas, flood plain areas, wilderness areas and regions where minority nationalities live in compact communities. In these areas, resources are scarce, transportation is difficult and limited,  相似文献

TEA is a necessity in Chinese life. According to historical records the Chinese had already learned how to plant and bake tea more than 2,000 years ago. Sipping tea has always been a favorite Chinese tradition. To the south of the Changjiang River is a region with good irrigation and a climate favorable for growing tea: it is cool at night and often misty. Zhejiang Province is a well-known tea production area, and the famous Longjing Tea is solely produced along the West Lake in Hangzhou, capital of the province. AS a metropolitan resident who is used to seeing towering buildings, an incessant stream of vehicles and people, I've always longed to have a taste of an ancient civilization, which is vigorous but exquisite, bold but elegant, natural but mysterious. I realized my dream when I went to Xi'an, a capital with a history of over 1,000 years. Xi'an was once the capital for eleven dynasties, including the Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang. This is the place where China's ancient civilization developed. Ancestors at Banpo created exquisite painted pottery; the Western Zhou Dynasty (about 1,066-771 B.C.) saw the height of the splendors of the bronze culture; the Qin Emperor Shi Huang (Qin Dynasty, from about 221-206 B.C.)  相似文献
