Abstract

The transmuted-G model is a useful technique to construct some new distributions by adding a parameter. This paper considers stochastic comparisons in the transmuted-G family with different parameters and different baseline distributions in the sense of the usual stochastic, shifted stochastic, proportional stochastic and shifted proportional stochastic orders. Also, we present a necessary and sufficient condition for existence of the moments of the transmuted-G model and then we obtain some bounds for the survival and aging intensity functions of the transmuted-G model conditioned on its parameter and its baseline distribution.  相似文献

Kumaraswamy [Generalized probability density-function for double-bounded random-processes, J. Hydrol. 462 (1980), pp. 79–88] introduced a distribution for double-bounded random processes with hydrological applications. For the first time, based on this distribution, we describe a new family of generalized distributions (denoted with the prefix ‘Kw’) to extend the normal, Weibull, gamma, Gumbel, inverse Gaussian distributions, among several well-known distributions. Some special distributions in the new family such as the Kw-normal, Kw-Weibull, Kw-gamma, Kw-Gumbel and Kw-inverse Gaussian distribution are discussed. We express the ordinary moments of any Kw generalized distribution as linear functions of probability weighted moments (PWMs) of the parent distribution. We also obtain the ordinary moments of order statistics as functions of PWMs of the baseline distribution. We use the method of maximum likelihood to fit the distributions in the new class and illustrate the potentiality of the new model with an application to real data.  相似文献

We introduce and study general mathematical properties of a new generator of continuous distributions with three extra parameters called the new generalized odd log-logistic family of distributions. The proposed family contains several important classes discussed in the literature as submodels such as the proportional reversed hazard rate and odd log-logistic classes. Its density function can be expressed as a mixture of exponentiated densities based on the same baseline distribution. Some of its mathematical properties including ordinary moments, quantile and generating functions, entropy measures, and order statistics, which hold for any baseline model, are presented. We also present certain characterization of the proposed distribution and derive a power series for the quantile function. We discuss the method of maximum likelihood to estimate the model parameters. We study the behavior of the maximum likelihood estimator via simulation. The importance of the new family is illustrated by means of two real data sets. These applications indicate that the new family can provide better fits than other well-known classes of distributions. The beauty and importance of the new family lies in its ability to model real data.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

For any continuous baseline G distribution, Cordeiro and Castro pioneered the Kumaraswamy-G family of distributions with two extra positive parameters, which generalizes both Lehmann types I and II classes. We study some mathematical properties of the Kumaraswamy-normal (KwN) distribution including ordinary and incomplete moments, mean deviations, quantile and generating functions, probability weighted moments, and two entropy measures. We propose a new linear regression model based on the KwN distribution, which extends the normal linear regression model. We obtain the maximum likelihood estimates of the model parameters and provide some diagnostic measures such as global influence, local influence, and residuals. We illustrate the potentiality of the introduced models by means of two applications to real datasets.  相似文献

For the first time, we introduce a generalized form of the exponentiated generalized gamma distribution [Cordeiro et al. The exponentiated generalized gamma distribution with application to lifetime data, J. Statist. Comput. Simul. 81 (2011), pp. 827–842.] that is the baseline for the log-exponentiated generalized gamma regression model. The new distribution can accommodate increasing, decreasing, bathtub- and unimodal-shaped hazard functions. A second advantage is that it includes classical distributions reported in the lifetime literature as special cases. We obtain explicit expressions for the moments of the baseline distribution of the new regression model. The proposed model can be applied to censored data since it includes as sub-models several widely known regression models. It therefore can be used more effectively in the analysis of survival data. We obtain maximum likelihood estimates for the model parameters by considering censored data. We show that our extended regression model is very useful by means of two applications to real data.  相似文献

We propose a new class of continuous distributions with two extra shape parameters named the generalized odd log-logistic family of distributions. The proposed family contains as special cases the proportional reversed hazard rate and odd log-logistic classes. Its density function can be expressed as a linear combination of exponentiated densities based on the same baseline distribution. Some of its mathematical properties including ordinary moments, quantile and generating functions, two entropy measures and order statistics are obtained. We derive a power series for the quantile function. We discuss the method of maximum likelihood to estimate the model parameters. We study the behaviour of the estimators by means of Monte Carlo simulations. We introduce the log-odd log-logistic Weibull regression model with censored data based on the odd log-logistic-Weibull distribution. The importance of the new family is illustrated using three real data sets. These applications indicate that this family can provide better fits than other well-known classes of distributions. The beauty and importance of the proposed family lies in its ability to model different types of real data.  相似文献

In this paper considering an appropriate transformation on the Lindley distribution, we propose the unit-Lindley distribution and investigate some of its statistical properties. An important fact associated with this new distribution is that it is possible to obtain the analytical expression for bias correction of the maximum likelihood estimator. Moreover, it belongs to the exponential family. This distribution allows us to incorporate covariates directly in the mean and consequently to quantify their influences on the average of the response variable. Finally, a practical application is presented to show that our model fits much better than the Beta regression.  相似文献

For any continuous baseline G distribution, Zografos and Balakrishnan [On families of beta- and generalized gamma-generated distributions and associated inference. Statist Methodol. 2009;6:344–362] introduced the generalized gamma-generated distribution with an extra positive parameter. A new three-parameter continuous model called the gamma-linear failure rate (LFR) distribution, which extends the LFR model, is proposed and studied. Various structural properties of the new distribution are derived, including some explicit expressions for ordinary and incomplete moments, generating function, probability-weighted moments, mean deviations and Rényi and Shannon entropies. We estimate the model parameters by maximum likelihood and obtain the observed information matrix. The new model is modified to cope with possible long-term survivors in lifetime data. We illustrate the usefulness of the proposed model by means of two applications to real data.  相似文献

The generalized logistic distribution can be considered as a proportional reversed hazard family with the baseline distribution as the logistic distribution. The generalized logistic distribution has been used to model the data with a unimodal density. In this comparison paper, the authors considered the maximum likelihood estimation of the different parameters of a generalized logistic distribution as well as other five estimation procedures. In this paper, we compare the performances of these procedures through an extensive numerical simulation.  相似文献

In this paper, we have presented a proportional hazard version of the Marshall–Olkin extended family of distributions. This family of distributions has been compared in terms of stochastic orderings with the Marshall-Olkin extended family of distributions. Considering the Gompertz distribution as the baseline, the monotonicity of the resulting failure rate is shown to be either increasing or bathtub, even though the Gompertz distribution has an increasing failure rate. The maximum likelihood estimation of the parameters has been studied and a data set, involving the serum–reversal times, has been analyzed and it has been shown that the model presented in this paper fit better than the Gompertz or even the Mrashall–Olkin Gompertz distribution. The extension presented in this paper can be used in other family of distributions as well.  相似文献

A new method for generating new classes of distributions based on the probability-generating function is presented in Aly and Benkherouf [A new family of distributions based on probability generating functions. Sankhya B. 2011;73:70–80]. In particular, they focused their interest to the so-called Harris extended family of distributions. In this paper, we provide several general results regarding the Harris extended models such as the general behaviour of the failure rate function. We also derive a very useful representation for the Harris extended density function as an absolutely convergent power series of the survival function of the baseline distribution. Additionally, some stochastic order relations are established and limiting distributions of sample extremes are also considered for this model. These general results are illustrated in several special Harris extended models. Finally, we discuss estimation of the model parameters by the method of maximum likelihood and provide an application to real data for illustrative purposes.  相似文献

In this article, we proposed a new three-parameter probability distribution, called Topp–Leone normal, for modelling increasing failure rate data. The distribution is obtained by using Topp–Leone-X family of distributions with normal as a baseline model. The basic properties including moments, quantile function, stochastic ordering and order statistics are derived here. The estimation of unknown parameters is approached by the method of maximum likelihood, least squares, weighted least squares and maximum product spacings. An extensive simulation study is carried out to compare the long-run performance of the estimators. Applicability of the distribution is illustrated by means of three real data analyses over existing distributions.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Recently, Risti? and Nadarajah [A new lifetime distribution. J Stat Comput Simul. 2014;84:135–150] introduced the Poisson generated family of distributions and investigated the properties of a special case named the exponentiated-exponential Poisson distribution. In this paper, we study general mathematical properties of the Poisson-X family in the context of the T-X family of distributions pioneered by Alzaatreh et al. [A new method for generating families of continuous distributions. Metron. 2013;71:63–79], which include quantile, shapes of the density and hazard rate functions, asymptotics and Shannon entropy. We obtain a useful linear representation of the family density and explicit expressions for the ordinary and incomplete moments, mean deviations and generating function. One special lifetime model called the Poisson power-Cauchy is defined and some of its properties are investigated. This model can have flexible hazard rate shapes such as increasing, decreasing, bathtub and upside-down bathtub. The method of maximum likelihood is used to estimate the model parameters. We illustrate the flexibility of the new distribution by means of three applications to real life data sets.  相似文献

Gupta and Kundu (Statistics 43:621–643, 2009) recently introduced a new class of weighted exponential distribution. It is observed that the proposed weighted exponential distribution is very flexible and can be used quite effectively to analyze skewed data. In this paper we propose a new bivariate distribution with the weighted exponential marginals. Different properties of this new bivariate distribution have been investigated. This new family has three unknown parameters, and it is observed that the maximum likelihood estimators of the unknown parameters can be obtained by solving a one-dimensional optimization procedure. We obtain the asymptotic distribution of the maximum likelihood estimators. Small simulation experiments have been performed to see the behavior of the maximum likelihood estimators, and one data analysis has been presented for illustrative purposes. Finally we discuss the multivariate generalization of the proposed model.  相似文献

We study general mathematical properties of a new class of continuous distributions with an extra positive parameter called the type I half-logistic family. We present some special models and investigate the asymptotics and shapes. The new density function can be expressed as a linear combination of exponentiated densities based on the same baseline distribution. We derive a power series for the quantile function. Explicit expressions for the ordinary and incomplete moments, quantile and generating functions, Bonferroni and Lorenz curves, Shannon and Rényi entropies and order statistics are determined. We introduce a bivariate extension of the new family. We discuss the estimation of the model parameters by maximum likelihood and illustrate its potentiality by means of two applications to real data.  相似文献

In this article, we explore a new two-parameter family of distribution, which is derived by suitably replacing the exponential term in the Gompertz distribution with a hyperbolic sine term. The resulting new family of distribution is referred to as the Gompertz-sinh distribution, and it possesses a thicker and longer lower tail than the Gompertz family, which is often used to model highly negatively skewed data. Moreover, we introduce a useful generalization of this model by adding a second shape parameter to accommodate a variety of density shapes as well as nondecreasing hazard shapes. The flexibility and better fitness of the new family, as well as its generalization, is demonstrated by providing well-known examples that involve complete, group, and censored data.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a bias corrected estimate of the regression coefficient for the generalized probit regression model when the covariates are subject to measurement error and the responses are subject to interval censoring. The main improvement of our method is that it reduces most of the bias that the naive estimates have. The great advantage of our method is that it is baseline and censoring distribution free, in a sense that the investigator does not need to calculate the baseline or the censoring distribution to obtain the estimator of the regression coefficient, an important property of Cox regression model. A sandwich estimator for the variance is also proposed. Our procedure can be generalized to general measurement error distribution as long as the first four moments of the measurement error are known. The results of extensive simulations show that our approach is very effective in eliminating the bias when the measurement error is not too large relative to the error term of the regression model.  相似文献

In nonignorable missing response problems, we study a semiparametric model with unspecified missingness mechanism model and a exponential family model for response conditional density. Even though existing methods are available to estimate the parameters in exponential family, estimation or testing of the missingness mechanism model nonparametrically remains to be an open problem. By defining a “synthesis" density involving the unknown missingness mechanism model and the known baseline “carrier" density in the exponential family model, we treat this “synthesis" density as a legitimate one with biased sampling version. We develop maximum pseudo likelihood estimation procedures and the resultant estimators are consistent and asymptotically normal. Since the “synthesis" cumulative distribution is a functional of the missingness mechanism model and the known carrier density, proposed method can be used to test the correctness of the missingness mechanism model nonparametrically andindirectly. Simulation studies and real example demonstrate the proposed methods perform very well.  相似文献

Abstract

The class of transmuted distributions has received a lot of attention in the recent statistical literature. In this paper, we propose a rich family of bivariate distribution whose conditionals are transmuted distributions. The new family of distributions depends on the two baseline distributions and three dependence parameters. Apart from the general properties, we also study the distribution of the concomitance of order statistics. We study specific bivariate models. Estimation methodologies are proposed. A simulation study is conducted. The usefulness of this family is established by fitting well analyzed real life time data.  相似文献
