社会资本：民族利益引导的理论基础

为了保证民族利益的良性发展,制度的建设具有重要意义。而非正式的民族利益引导机制有时会起到超越正式制度的效果。社会资本作为一种非正式的制度,能够进行民族利益的引导,减少利益矛盾,建立民族间和谐的利益关系。

Close but not committed? The multiple dimensions of relational embeddedness

This research addresses the complexity of embedded inter-firm ties. Based on both qualitative and quantitative data from field research in the computer motherboard manufacturing industry, this paper investigates the origins of close ties and committed relationships, and explores the relationships between these two dimensions of embedded inter-firm relationships. The results show that companies establish close relationships with their partners to resolve coordination uncertainty due to a high level of task interdependence in their exchanges, and that firms become more collaboratively committed when they seek to alter a disadvantaged power asymmetry. At the same time, the fieldwork found an underlying conflict between the embeddedness dimensions of closeness and commitment: too much closeness reduces a partner’s commitment. These findings have significant implications for the formation of embedded corporate ties as well as the effects of embeddedness on organizations.

Secular declines in the association between obesity and mortality in the United States

Recent research suggests that rising obesity will restrain future gains in US life expectancy and that obesity is an important contributor to the current shortfall in us longevity compared to other high-income countries. Estimates of the contribution of obesity to current and future national-level mortality patterns are sensitive to estimates of the magnitude of the association between obesity and mortality at the individual level. We assessed secular trends in the obesity/mortality association among cohorts of middle-aged adults between 1948 and 2006 using three long-running US data sources: the Framingham Heart Study, the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, and the National Health Interview Survey. We find substantial declines over time in the magnitude of the association between obesity and overall mortality and, in certain instances, cardiovascular-specific mortality. We conclude that estimates of the contribution of obesity to current national-level mortality patterns should take into account recent reductions in the magnitude of the obesity and mortality association.     

流转税和所得税的福利效应研究

 本文根据我国城市（镇）不同收入阶层1999年至2008年的支出结构数据及现金收入和支出统计状况,测算出我国城镇居民消费支出的有效税率②和所得税额;利用跨期消费决策的两期模型,构造居民消费效用函数,即消费者的福利函数,测算出我国流转税和所得税的福利损失（成本）。结果显示：我国居民消费符合边际消费倾向递减规律;不同收入阶层的消费时间偏好不同,收入水平越低越倾向于当前消费;流转税具有明显的累退效应,而所得税的累进效应,特别是个人所得税的累进效应不明显,使得我国当前的税制结构对收入分配的调节力度不够。

西方资本主义社会开创的现代化道路在生态建设领域存在着内源性局限,要实现人与自然关系的实质性转变需同时进行理论与实践两个层面的革命性变革。习近平生态文明思想与西方资本主义主导下的生态理念在价值基点、思维模式、目标诉求方面都有所区别,在思维维度上实现了从“二元对立”到“辩证统一”的生态思维模式的转化;在价值维度上实现了从“利益至上”到“以人为本”的生态价值观的扬弃;在共同体维度上实现了从“单边主义”到“共建共享”的生态治理格局的超越;在实践维度上实现了从资本主义逻辑到社会主义逻辑的生态建设路径的转变。习近平生态文明思想为社会发展提供了人与自然和谐共生与全球繁荣发展相统一的中国良治,走出了一条不同于西方之治的现代化生态文明道路,是中国反馈给世界的社会主义新型现代化生态理论。     

新的文学史可能吗

文章介绍了正在编撰中的《剑桥中国文学史》的缘起及其所面临的挑战,把普通读者作为目标读者的确定,及其独特的方法论和历史分期,并且逐一介绍了这本文学史中各章所面临的问题,以及参与撰写的美国汉学界的优秀学者对这些问题的处理方式,从而提出了在一种全球化的语境下,编撰一部新的中国文学史的可能性问题。     

Maximizing Complex Likelihoods via Directed Stochastic Searching Algorithm

In this article, a directed stochastic searching algorithm is defined. It is a root or optimal parameter searching algorithm with stochastic searching directions. This algorithm is especially relevant when the objective function is complex or is observed with errors. We prove that the resulting roots or estimators have well-controlled biases under certain conditions. We examine the proposed method by finding the maximum likelihood estimates for which the corresponding likelihood function has or does not have a closed-form representation in both the simulations and the real cases. Finally, the limitations and the consequences when multiple solutions exist are addressed.     

应当重视伦理学教育

在我国,无论是在中学还是在大学都没有开设伦理学必修课程,学生因为没有接受必要的伦理学教育而普遍缺乏起码的伦理学素养,这已经并将继续导致诸多不良后果。本文针对这种状况提出,应该尽快对高中生和大学生进行普遍的伦理学教育。文章论述了普遍进行伦理学教育的必要性、紧迫性,指出了不能用思想政治教育替代伦理学教育,并对如何广泛开展伦理学教育提出了框架性构想,对当前实施伦理学教育亟待解决的问题提出了一些个人的想法。
