ABSTRACTThe purpose of the present study was to culturally adapt and validate the Children’s Knowledge of Abuse Questionnaire-RIII (CKAQ-RIII), a tool that examines children’s understanding of sexual abuse concepts, for use in Greek elementary schools. A sample of 467 Greek school children between the ages of 6–9 was recruited from a private school. The CKAQ-RIII was administrated three times, before and immediately after a Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) prevention intervention program, as well as during a one-year follow-up evaluation. A subsample of the original population (N = 113) completed the one year follow up administration of CKAQ-RIII, along with the Body Awareness (BA) and the Emotional Differentiation (ED) subscales of the Emotion Awareness Questionnaire (EAQ). Internal consistency was high for the inappropriate touch scale (ITS) of the CKAQ-RIII and moderate for the appropriate touch subscale (ATS). Inter-item analysis showed that the majority of items were in an acceptable range. Pearson correlation coefficients analyses revealed strong associations between the two subscales of ITS and ATS, and the overall scores of the questionnaire. A mixed-subjects analysis of variance on the ITS showed an increase in knowledge post intervention, with third graders (8–9 year olds) generally scoring higher at baseline and demonstrating greater knowledge gains post intervention. A mixed-subjects analysis of variance was also conducted for the ATS where no significant increase in knowledge was found. Furthermore, analysis revealed a good concurrent criterion validity with good levels of agreement between CKAQ-RIII and ED, whereas no relationship was established between CKAQ-RIII and BA. 相似文献

Psychosocial rehabilitation involves a gamut of activities that need to be personalized to suit an individual's needs. The context in which rehabilitation occurs greatly influences the range and availability of rehabilitation services and their utilization. This study attempts to highlight the contextual factors, with specific reference to globalization and development, the scope of rehabilitation, and the continuum of rehabilitation services that have a bearing on an individual's recovery. The relevance and effectiveness of the bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach in making services more pertinent and applicable are discussed. Implications for program development and policy interventions are suggested. It is hoped that this study will draw attention to the need for openness to a broad range of services even while using specific interventions. 相似文献

The long-term existence of online communities of transaction mainly depends on the participation of their members. Despite this importance, up to now no studies have empirically investigated the drivers of customer participation in those online communities which are growing in number. The present paper contributes to this research gap by developing a comprehensive model analyzing member-specific, social and provider-specific determinants of customer participation in online communities of transaction. This model is based on two so far rather isolated research streams: traditional customer participation research and online community research. By testing our theoretical model using data generated in an online community of transaction, we identify member-specific drivers to be most important. Thus, providers of these online communities should put an emphasis on marketing activities that have an impact on the community members’ enjoyment and expertise. Moreover, the perceived interactional justice of the interaction within the community and the anticipated saving of money stimulate customer participation as well. Quite unexpectedly, we find social identification and positive network effects to have a negative influence on customer participation. 相似文献

Do Different Infant Smiles Reflect Different Positive Emotions? 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Different types of infant smiles in the family of positive emotions were investigated during two mother-infant games: peekaboo and tickle. There were 27 6-month-old infants and 28 12-month-olds. Infant smiles were coded as simple (lip corner retraction only), Duchenne (simple plus cheek raising), play (simple plus jaw drop), and duplay (simple plus cheek raise and jaw drop). Results show that each type of smile has a systematic pattern of association with the game (peekaboo or tickle), component (setup or climax), trial (six trials for each game), and the direction of the infant's gaze. No significant age differences were found. We conclude that when smiling, infants may experience qualitatively different kinds of enjoyment during these two games: enjoyment of readiness to engage in play (simple smiles while gazing at mother during peekaboo), enjoyment of relief (simple smiles while gazing away from mother after being tickled), enjoyment of participation and agency (Duchenne smiles with gaze at mother during the climax of early tickle game trials), enjoyment of escape (Duchenne smiles while gazing away during tickle climax), and enjoyment of build-up (duplay smiles during the climax of later trials). These findings show that the same facial action, smiling, can reflect different positive emotions depending upon cooccurring facial actions and the dynamics of the social process, and that the positive emotional experience of infants as young as six months is more complex than previously reported. 相似文献

One of the most serious problems facing Romania today is the education of one of its largest minorities, the Roma, especially since such a high percentage — some estimate over 27% ‐‐ of this minority go unschooled and are illiterate. This paper looks at the current situation of Roma within the Romanian educational system, and begins to discuss some of the reasons why the system is failing to educate thousands of Romani children. Substance abuse among older adults is on the rise. Of particular concern is the increase in alcohol and drug use predicted among Latino elders, expected to result from an upsurge in the Latino population and concurrent growth in the number of older adults. Providing effective treatment for this group will require age-specific, culturally competent interventions. However, few studies have focused on geriatric substance abuse among Latinos. This study aims to lay the groundwork for further research by examining perceptions of the problem among treatment providers and researchers in aging and substance abuse.
