The concept of urban education is seen as education conducted under certain conditions and in a particular environment—for example, in inner city areas where immigrant groups have settled. Greek children in State schools in the inner city of Sydney serve as an example. It is suggested that for the local Australian pupils, and for those for whom English is a second language, school entry marks the beginning of their alienation process. Home and school value systems are at variance. The needs of the local Australian group and those of the immigrants are totally separate and disparate. In this work three genetic algorithms are presented for the permutation flowshop scheduling problem with total tardiness minimisation criterion. The algorithms include advanced techniques like path relinking, local search and a procedure to control the diversity of the population. We also include a speed up procedure in order to reduce the computational effort needed for the local search technique, which results in large CPU time savings. A complete calibration of the different parameters and operators of the proposed algorithms by means of a design of experiments approach is also given. We carry out a comparative evaluation with the best methods that can be found in the literature for the total tardiness objective, and with adaptations of other state-of-the-art methods originally proposed for other objectives, mainly makespan. All the methods have been implemented with and without the speed up procedure in order to test its effect. The results show that the proposed algorithms are very effective, outperforming the remaining methods of the comparison by a considerable margin. 相似文献

Abstract This controlled longitudinal study was conducted to investigate the effects of organizational change on employees’ self-reported health, work satisfaction, work-related exhaustion, stress, and sick leave. The population consisted of 226 employees at T1 and 198 at T2, divided into a study group affected by organizational changes, and a reference group not affected by them. Group differences for the outcome measures self-rated health (SRH), work satisfaction, work-related exhaustion, and hormones associated with stress were analysed using a two-factor ANOVA design for repeated measurements. Our findings showed no significant differences, either across time or between groups for SRH, work satisfaction, and work-related exhaustion. However, we did find significant change across time and between groups for the recovery hormone DHEA-S. Days of sick leave increased by 7% for employees in the study group and by 2% in the reference group. Serum cortisol showed significantly decreased levels across time but not between groups. The decreased recovery potential in the study group might have long-term health implications. The study points to the importance of looking at the impact of organizational change on employee well-being from a number of perspectives, such as self-reported health parameters, registered sick-leave data, and biological stress markers. 相似文献
