Emigration,Housing Conditions,and Social Stratification in China1

Using data from the 1995 China 1% Population Sample Survey, this article examines the impact of international migration on housing conditions in China. We find that international migration affects housing conditions differently in cities, towns, and rural areas. In rural areas, the impact of emigration on housing conditions is seen primarily through the increase of housing space, whereas in cities the impact of emigration on housing conditions is mainly reflected in the improvement of facilities. Although having a cadre in the household continues to be an important factor, international migration has begun to challenge, and even rival, this legacy of social stratification in China.

Immigrants' Language Skills: The Australian Experience in a Longitudinal Survey

This article is concerned with the determinants of English language proficiency (speaking, reading and writing) among immigrants. It presents a model of immigrant destination language proficiency based on economic incentives, exposure to the destination language, and efficiency in second language acquisition. A unique data set, the Longitudinal Survey of Immigrants to Australia, is used to test the model. This survey had three waves, at about six months, eighteen months and three‐and‐a‐half years after immigration. The analyses are performed by wave, type of language skill and gender using probit analysis. Bivariate probit analysis is used across waves. The hypotheses are supported by the data. The bivariate probit analysis indicates a positive correlation in the unexplained component that declines with time between waves, suggesting a “regression to the mean” in the unobserved components of English language proficiency.

根据协整理论,利用中国1982-2003年的年度经济数据对中国对外投资和经济增长之间的关系进行了实证分析.实证分析的结果表明,中国的经济增长和对外投资之间存在着因果关系:他国对中国投资的增加促进了中国经济的增长,中国经济的增长又促使了中国对外投资的增加.

《圣经》与古希腊神话都是世界文学经典,两部作品均折射着父权统治的阴影。依此为据点,就两部经典中的女性形象与地位进行了例证分析,最后指出在两部经典所描述的男权世界中,女性始终处于被压迫、无自由的地位,其形象也受到不同程度的歪曲。她们是父权世界权利与地位争夺的牺牲品。     

渡河问题的Hamming算法的Matlab求解

借助于Matlab软件对渡河问题进行了研究,通过对渡河问题的解析解和数值解进行图像和理论分析,说明了Hamming算法对求解此类数学建模问题的有效性和实用性.

关于环境侵权责任保险制度的创新研究

由于环境问题有其自身的特殊性,所以在解决环境侵权损害赔偿问题的时候,便要求相关法律制度的建立和健全。实践表明,运用现有的侵权行为法及救济制度去解决这一问题,效果已不尽如人意。环境侵权责任保险制度的出现,恰恰符合了现实之所需,正日益展现出它的积极作用。本文通过从法的角度给环境侵权责任保险定位以及分析其存在的价值,从而指出构建与之相关制度的对策。
