We consider pairwise multiple comparisons and multiple comparisons with a control among mean vectors for high-dimensional data under the multivariate normality. For such cases, the statistics based on the Dempster trace criterion are given, and also their approximate upper percentiles are derived by using the Bonferroni’s inequality. Finally, the accuracy of their approximate values is evaluated by Monte Carlo simulation.  相似文献

Two‐stage designs are widely used to determine whether a clinical trial should be terminated early. In such trials, a maximum likelihood estimate is often adopted to describe the difference in efficacy between the experimental and reference treatments; however, this method is known to display conditional bias. To reduce such bias, a conditional mean‐adjusted estimator (CMAE) has been proposed, although the remaining bias may be nonnegligible when a trial is stopped for efficacy at the interim analysis. We propose a new estimator for adjusting the conditional bias of the treatment effect by extending the idea of the CMAE. This estimator is calculated by weighting the maximum likelihood estimate obtained at the interim analysis and the effect size prespecified when calculating the sample size. We evaluate the performance of the proposed estimator through analytical and simulation studies in various settings in which a trial is stopped for efficacy or futility at the interim analysis. We find that the conditional bias of the proposed estimator is smaller than that of the CMAE when the information time at the interim analysis is small. In addition, the mean‐squared error of the proposed estimator is also smaller than that of the CMAE. In conclusion, we recommend the use of the proposed estimator for trials that are terminated early for efficacy or futility.  相似文献

This article considers the provision of two public goods on tree networks where each agent has a single-peaked preference. We show that if there are at least four agents, then no social choice rule exists that satisfies efficiency and replacement-domination. In fact, these properties are incompatible, even if agents’ preferences are restricted to a smaller domain of symmetric single-peaked preferences. However, for rules on an interval, we prove that Miyagawa’s (Soc Choice Welf 18:527–541, 2001) characterization that only the left-peaks rule and the right-peaks rule satisfy both of these properties also holds on the domain of symmetric single-peaked preferences. Moreover, if agents’ peak locations are restricted to either the nodes or the endpoints of trees, rules exist on a subclass of trees. We provide a characterization of a family of such rules for this tree subclass.  相似文献

We deal with the problem of classifying a new observation vector into one of two known multivariate normal distributions when the dimension p and training sample size N   are both large with p<Np<N. Modified linear discriminant analysis (MLDA) was suggested by Xu et al. [10]. Error rate of MLDA is smaller than the one of LDA. However, if p and N   are moderately large, error rate of MLDA is close to the one of LDA. These results are conditional ones, so we should investigate whether they hold unconditionally. In this paper, we give two types of asymptotic approximations of expected probability of misclassification (EPMC) for MLDA as n→∞n with p=O(nδ)p=O(nδ), 0<δ<10<δ<1. The one of two is the same as the asymptotic approximation of LDA, and the other is corrected version of the approximation. Simulation reveals that the modified version of approximation has good accuracy for the case in which p and N are moderately large.  相似文献

We discuss a one-sample location test that can be used when the dimension and the sample size are large. It is well-known that the power of Hotelling’s test decreases when the dimension is close to the sample size. The comparative merits and demerits of these two tests vary according to the local parameters. In particular, we consider the situation where it is difficult to determine which test should be used, that is, where the two tests are asymptotically equivalent in terms of local power. We propose a new statistic based on the weighted averaging of Hotelling’s T2-statistic and Dempster’s statistic that can be applied in such a situation. Our weight is determined on the basis of the maximum local asymptotic power on a restricted parameter space that induces local asymptotic equivalence between Hotelling’s test and Dempster’s test. Numerical results show that our test is more stable than Hotelling’s T2-statistic and Dempster’s statistic in most parameter settings.  相似文献

Ingestion of contaminated soil is one potential internal exposure pathway in areas contaminated by the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident. Doses from this pathway can be overestimated if the availability of radioactive nuclides in soils for the gastrointestinal tract is not considered. The concept of bioaccessibility has been adopted to evaluate this availability based on in vitro tests. This study evaluated the bioaccessibility of radioactive cesium from soils via the physiologically‐based extraction test (PBET) and the extractability of those via an extraction test with 1 mol/L of hydrochloric acid (HCl). The bioaccessibility obtained in the PBET was 5.3% ± 1%, and the extractability in the tests with HCl was 16% ± 3%. The bioaccessibility was strongly correlated with the extractability. This result indicates the possibility that the extractability in HCl can be used as a good predictor of the bioaccessibility with PBET. In addition, we assessed the doses to children from the ingestion of soil via hand‐to‐mouth activity based on our PBET results using a probabilistic approach considering the spatial distribution of radioactive cesium in Date City in Fukushima Prefecture and the interindividual differences in the surveyed amounts of soil ingestion in Japan. The results of this assessment indicate that even if children were to routinely ingest a large amount of soil with relatively high contamination, the radiation doses from this pathway are negligible compared with doses from external exposure owing to deposited radionuclides in Fukushima Prefecture.  相似文献

Abstract

In a 2-step monotone missing dataset drawn from a multivariate normal population, T2-type test statistic (similar to Hotelling’s T2 test statistic) and likelihood ratio (LR) are often used for the test for a mean vector. In complete data, Hotelling’s T2 test and LR test are equivalent, however T2-type test and LR test are not equivalent in the 2-step monotone missing dataset. Then we interest which statistic is reasonable with relation to power. In this paper, we derive asymptotic power function of both statistics under a local alternative and obtain an explicit form for difference in asymptotic power function. Furthermore, under several parameter settings, we compare LR and T2-type test numerically by using difference in empirical power and in asymptotic power function. Summarizing obtained results, we recommend applying LR test for testing a mean vector.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the problem of selecting variables in two-group discriminant analysis for high-dimensional data with fewer observations than the dimension. We consider a selection criterion based on approximately unbiased for AIC type of risk. When the dimension is large compared to the sample size, AIC type of risk cannot be defined. We propose AIC by replacing maximum likelihood estimator with ridge-type estimator. This idea follows Srivastava and Kubokawa (2008). It has been further extended by Yamamura et al. (2010). Simulation revealed that the proposed AIC performs well.  相似文献

We consider a simulation study to evaluate the performance of the proposal and construct smooth bootstrap confidence intervals. In the context of nonlinear regression models, we propose an optimal experimental design criterion for estimating the parameters that account for the intrinsic and parameter-effects nonlinearity. The optimal design criterion proposed in this article minimizes the determinant of the mean squared error matrix of the parameter estimator that is quadratically approximated using the curvature array. The design criterion reduces to the D-optimal design criterion if there are no intrinsic and parameter-effects nonlinearity in the model, and depends on the scale parameter estimator and on the reparameterization used. Some examples, using a well known nonlinear kinetics model, demonstrate the application of the proposed criterion to nonsequential design of experiments as compared with the D-optimal criterion.  相似文献
