There exist various methods for providing confidence intervals for unknown parameters of interest on the basis of a random sample. Generally, the bounds are derived from a system of non-linear equations. In this article, we present a general solution to obtain an unbiased confidence interval with confidence coefficient 1 ? α in one-parameter exponential families. Also we discuss two Bayesian credible intervals, the highest posterior density (HPD) and relative surprise (RS) credible intervals. Standard criteria like the coverage length and coverage probability are used to assess the performance of the HPD and RS credible intervals. Process capability indices (PCIs) are most effective devices/techniques used in industries for determining the quality of products and performance of manufacturing processes. In this article, we consider the PCI Cpc which is based on the proportion of conformance and is applicable to normally as well as non-normally and continuous as well as discrete distributed processes. In order to estimate the PCI Cpc when the process follows exponentiated exponential distribution, we have used five classical methods of estimation. The performances of these classical estimators are compared with respect to their biases and mean squared errors (MSEs) of the index Cpc through simulation study. Also, the confidence intervals for the index Cpc are constructed using five bootstrap confidence interval (BCIs) methods. Monte Carlo simulation study has been carried out to compare the performances of these five BCIs in terms of their average width and coverage probabilities. Besides, net sensitivity (NS) analysis for the given PCI Cpc is considered. We use two data sets related to electronic and food industries and two failure time data sets to illustrate the performance of the proposed methods of estimation and BCIs. The exponentiated Gumbel model has been shown to be useful in climate modeling including global warming problem, flood frequency analysis, offshore modeling, rainfall modeling, and wind speed modeling. Here, we consider estimation of the probability density function (PDF) and the cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the exponentiated Gumbel distribution. The following estimators are considered: uniformly minimum variance unbiased (UMVU) estimator, maximum likelihood (ML) estimator, percentile (PC) estimator, least-square (LS) estimator, and weighted least-square (WLS) estimator. Analytical expressions are derived for the bias and the mean squared error. Simulation studies and real data applications show that the ML estimator performs better than others. 相似文献

Cordeiro and de Castro proposed a new family of generalized distributions based on the Kumaraswamy distribution (denoted as Kw-G). Nadarajah et al. showed that the density function of the new family of distributions can be expressed as a linear combination of the density of exponentiated family of distributions. They derived some properties of Kw-G distributions and discussed estimation of parameters using the maximum likelihood (ML) method. Cheng and Amin and Ranneby introduced a new method of estimating parameters based on Kullback–Leibler divergence (the maximum spacing (MSP) method). In this article, the estimates of parameters of Kw-G distributions are obtained using the MSP method. For some special Kw-G distributions, the new estimators are compared with ML estimators. It is shown by simulations and a real data application that MSP estimators have better properties than ML estimators. 相似文献

ABSTRACTHazard rate functions are often used in modeling of lifetime data. The Exponential Power Series (EPS) family has a monotone hazard rate function. In this article, the influence of input factors such as time and parameters on the variability of hazard rate function is assessed by local and global sensitivity analysis. Two different indices based on local and global sensitivity indices are presented. The simulation results for two datasets show that the hazard rate functions of the EPS family are sensitive to input parameters. The results also show that the hazard rate function of the EPS family is more sensitive to the exponential distribution than power series distributions. 相似文献
