UMVU estimation of the reliability function of the generalized life distributions

The problems of estimating the reliability function and P=P_rX > Y are considered for the generalized life distributions. Uniformly minimum variance unbiased estimators (UMVUES) of the powers of the parameter involved in the probabilistic model and the probability density function (pdf) at a specified point are derived. The UMVUE of the pdf is utilized to obtain the UMVUE of the reliability function and ‘P’. Our method of obtaining these estimators is quite simple than the traditional approaches. A theoretical method of studying the behaviour of the hazard-rate is provided.

A fast method is presented for generating pseudorandom uniform points in a ball of dimension 3, 4, or 5.     

Who benefits from the adjustment process in developing countries? A test on India,Kenya, and Turkey

This paper employs country-specific multisectoral general equilibrium models of Turkey, Kenya, and India to study the adjustment problems confronting these countries. The effects of liberal and interventionist policies on GDP and on incomes of different classes are analyzed. The results show that liberal policies minimize the GDP losse that both capitalists and farmers are relatively better off under these policies, while industrial persons experience reduced welfare.
