A slacks-based measure of super-efficiency in data envelopment analysis: An alternative approach

The current paper proposes a slack-based version of the Super SBM, which is an alternative super-efficiency model for the SBM proposed by Tone. Our two-stage approach provides the same super-efficiency score as that obtained by the Super SBM model when the evaluated DMU is efficient and yields the same efficiency score as that obtained by the SBM model when the evaluated DMU is inefficient. The projection identified by the Super SBM model may not be strongly Pareto efficient; however, the projection identified from our approach is strongly Pareto efficient.     

Greedy algorithms for the profit-aware social team formation problem

Motivated by applications in online labor markets, we study the problem of forming multiple teams of experts in a social network to accomplish multiple tasks that require different combinations of skills. Our goal is to maximize the total profit of tasks that are completed by these teams subject to the capacity constraints of the experts. We study both the offline and online settings of the problem. For the offline problem, we present a simple and practical algorithm that improves upon previous results in many situations. For the online problem, we design competitive deterministic and randomized online algorithms. These are complemented by some hardness results in both settings.

     

继承与发扬季羡林学术遗产进一步加强对中印文化的研究

我们加强对中印文化的研究,要学习季老深入钻研东方智慧宝库的精神,把他启动了的研究专题继承发扬,特别是对他所说的中印关系是“天设地造”;如果没有中印文化交流,中国和印度都不会发展成今天这个样子;以及“三十年河东、三十年河西”作更深刻的探讨。本文对这三个论点提出些初步看法。     

Promotions and the pattern of grocery shopping time

The histograms of interpurchase times for frequently purchased packaged goods have consistently shown pronounced seven-day cycles. Evidence supports that the weekly spike phenomenon is the result of consumers' regular shopping trip schedules. We explore the implications of this peculiar regularity on the issue of consumer purchase timing acceleration. Data for five product categories are examined. Promotions are found to have little effect in accelerating purchase timing. In contrast, conventional interpurchase time models are shown to overstate the effect of promotions.     

巴黎和会日本“种族平等”提案与日裔美国移民问题探析

巴黎和会上,日本代表团提出将＂种族平等＂作为一重要原则写入国联盟约,试图从根本上解决长期悬而未决的日裔移民遭受排斥的问题。该提议由于触及了美国及英联邦国家的利益而被和会否决。＂种族平等＂的提出,主要是由于日方认为移民问题已严重伤害了日本的民族情感,并对其业已取得的大国地位产生了不利的影响。而日本在种族方面的努力,却在客观上加剧了美国社会对日裔群体的排斥,在一定程度上造成了二战期间日裔移民遭受集体监禁的悲剧。     

中美家庭结构与功能的比较分析

本研究聚焦于中美家庭结构和功能的异同以及文化力量的影响,利用美国社会工作学生访华计划设计了本研究课题,在中美双方老师的共同督导下,9名美国社会工作学生和18名中国社会工作学生参与了本课题研究,采用了面对面的深度访谈和观察的方法.比较了中美家庭在家庭结构、家庭决策、家庭沟通及家庭观念等方面的异同,并探讨了其中的文化影响力和对社会工作介入的启示.     

Bidirectionality in kindergarten children's school readiness and emotional regulation

This study examined the longitudinal associations of emotional regulation and school readiness among Chinese kindergarten children. Data were collected from 523 children (mean age at time 1 = 52.42 months; 52.9% male) at two time points separated by approximately 1 year in Hong Kong, China. At times 1 and 2, children's school readiness was assessed by their teachers and parents while their emotional regulation was directly tested. Teachers also rated children's emotional regulation at both time points. The results from the two reciprocal path models showed that, controlling for the corresponding autoregressive effects, school readiness at time 1 was predictive of emotional regulation at time 2. However, emotional regulation at time 1 did not emerge as a significant predictor of school readiness at time 2. Theoretically, these results underscored children's school readiness as a potential contributor to their emotional regulation. Practically, these findings suggested the utility of supporting children's school readiness to foster their emotional regulation.     

A network of management support systems

Based on the decision-making process that actually happens in most organizations, a management support system (MSS) or an integrated decision support systems (DSS) is defined as a network of subsystem interfaces, as opposed to management information system (MIS) being a network of information flows. Three modes for subsystem interfaces are discussed. To help the operationalization of the (computerized) support system, we also propose a design architecture which consists of the continuum of conceptual constructs, operational constructs and implementational constructs.     

Community Size,Individual Social Position,and Community Attachment1

Abstract The objective of this investigation is to elaborate and test the linear development and systemic models of community attachment. We focus on the interplay of community size, five social position variables, and three dimensions of community attachment, namely, involvement, amity, and sentiment. Data are obtained from a statewide migration telephone survey of 851 respondents aged 18 and over, conducted in Utah in October 1988. We focus on a weighted subsample of 415 nonmetropolitan respondents. Multiple Classification Analysis (MCA) techniques are employed. Contrary to the linear development model, community size did not have an independent inverse impact on community involvement, amity, and sentiment. Results do vary by social position and community attachment dimensions.
