Nonlinear regression models arise when definite information is available about the form of the relationship between the response and predictor variables. Such information might involve direct knowledge of the actual form of the true model or might be represented by a set of differential equations that the model must satisfy. We develop M-procedures for estimating parameters and testing hypotheses of interest about these parameters in nonlinear regression models for repeated measurement data. Under regularity conditions, the asymptotic properties of the M-procedures are presented, including the uniform linearity, normality and consistency. The computation of the M-estimators of the model parameters is performed with iterative procedures, similar to Newton–Raphson and Fisher's scoring methods. The methodology is illustrated by using a multivariate logistic regression model with real data, along with a simulation study.  相似文献

A new discrete family of probability distributions that are generated by the 3 F 2 function with complex parameters is presented. Some of the properties of this new family are studied as well as methods of estimation for its parameters. It affords considerable flexibility of shape which turns the distribution into an appropriate candidate for modeling data that cannot be adequately fitted by classical families with fewer parameters. Finally, three examples in the fields of Agriculture and Education are included in order to show the versatility and utility of this distribution.  相似文献

Friday and Patil bivariate exponential (FPBVE) distribution family is one of the most flexible bivariate exponential distributions in the literature; among others, it contains the bivariate exponential models due to Freund, Marshall–Olkin, Block–Basu, and Proschan–Sullo as particular cases. In this article, we discuss the stochastic aging of the maximum statistic from FPBVE model in according to the log-concavity of its density function, i.e., in the increasing or decreasing likelihood ratio classes (ILR or DLR), and consequently in the IFR and DFR classes. Furthermore, a kind of DFR distributions which are not DLR is derived from our classification.  相似文献

The quality of the asymptotic normality of realized volatility can be poor if sampling does not occur at very high frequencies. In this article we consider an alternative approximation to the finite sample distribution of realized volatility based on Edgeworth expansions. In particular, we show how confidence intervals for integrated volatility can be constructed using these Edgeworth expansions. The Monte Carlo study we conduct shows that the intervals based on the Edgeworth corrections have improved properties relatively to the conventional intervals based on the normal approximation. Contrary to the bootstrap, the Edgeworth approach is an analytical approach that is easily implemented, without requiring any resampling of one's data. A comparison between the bootstrap and the Edgeworth expansion shows that the bootstrap outperforms the Edgeworth corrected intervals. Thus, if we are willing to incur in the additional computational cost involved in computing bootstrap intervals, these are preferred over the Edgeworth intervals. Nevertheless, if we are not willing to incur in this additional cost, our results suggest that Edgeworth corrected intervals should replace the conventional intervals based on the first order normal approximation.  相似文献

The problem addressed is that of smoothing parameter selection in kernel nonparametric regression in the fixed design regression model with dependent noise. An asymptotic expression of the optimum bandwidth parameter has been obtained in recent studies, where this takes the form h = C 0 n ?1/5. A 2 2 2 contingency table can often be analysed in an exact fashion by using Fisher's exact test and in an approximate fashion by using the chi-squared test with Yates' continuity correction, and it is traditionally held that the approximation is valid when the minimum expected quantity E is E S 5. Unfortunately, little research has been carried out into this belief, other than that it is necessary to establish a bound E>E*, that the condition E S 5 may not be the most appropriate (Martín Andrés et al., 1992) and that E* is not a constant, but usually increasing with the growth of the sample size (Martín Andrés & Herranz Tejedor, 1997). In this paper, the authors conduct a theoretical experimental study from which they ascertain that E* value (which is very variable and frequently quite a lot greater than 5) is strongly related to the magnitude of the skewness of the underlying hypergeometric distribution, and that bounding the skewness is equivalent to bounding E (which is the best control procedure). The study enables estimating the expression for the above-mentioned E* (which in turn depends on the number of tails in the test, the alpha error used, the total sample size, and the minimum marginal imbalance) to be estimated. Also the authors show that E* increases generally with the sample size and with the marginal imbalance, although it does reach a maximum. Some general and very conservative validity conditions are E S 35.53 (one-tailed test) and E S 7.45 (two-tailed test) for alpha nominal errors in 1% h f h 10%. The traditional condition E S 5 is only valid when the samples are small and one of the marginals is very balanced; alternatively, the condition E S 5.5 is valid for small samples or a very balanced marginal. Finally, it is proved that the chi-squared test is always valid in tables where both marginals are balanced, and that the maximum skewness permitted is related to the maximum value of the bound E*, to its value for tables with at least one balanced marginal and to the minimum value that those marginals must have (in non-balanced tables) for the chi-squared test to be valid.  相似文献

A fully parametric first-order autoregressive (AR(1)) model is proposed to analyse binary longitudinal data. By using a discretized version of a copula, the modelling approach allows one to construct separate models for the marginal response and for the dependence between adjacent responses. In particular, the transition model that is focused on discretizes the Gaussian copula in such a way that the marginal is a Bernoulli distribution. A probit link is used to take into account concomitant information in the behaviour of the underlying marginal distribution. Fixed and time-varying covariates can be included in the model. The method is simple and is a natural extension of the AR(1) model for Gaussian series. Since the approach put forward is likelihood-based, it allows interpretations and inferences to be made that are not possible with semi-parametric approaches such as those based on generalized estimating equations. Data from a study designed to reduce the exposure of children to the sun are used to illustrate the methods.  相似文献

The distribution of the aggregate claims in one year plays an important role in Actuarial Statistics for computing, for example, insurance premiums when both the number and size of the claims must be implemented into the model. When the number of claims follows a Poisson distribution the aggregated distribution is called the compound Poisson distribution. In this article we assume that the claim size follows an exponential distribution and later we make an extensive study of this model by assuming a bidimensional prior distribution for the parameters of the Poisson and exponential distribution with marginal gamma. This study carries us to obtain expressions for net premiums, marginal and posterior distributions in terms of some well-known special functions used in statistics. Later, a Bayesian robustness study of this model is made. Bayesian robustness on bidimensional models was deeply treated in the 1990s, producing numerous results, but few applications dealing with this problem can be found in the literature.  相似文献
